Greetings to everyone!

How is everyone planning to view the hearing that is scheduled for tomorrow at 9am?

Is anyone following Therese Apel on Twitter for updates? Has anyone contacted TA via email or FB to find out if she will be covering the hearing?

I realize the hearing will be brief. I just want to look at that hoodlum killer of Miss Jessica Lane Chambers who remained elusive to us for so long.

Thanks for that, bbbd4u and MSCJgrad.

Why the DeSoto jail? Champion is DA for several MS counties (DeSoto / Tate / Panola / Tallahatchie / Yalobusha). Maybe he thought the Panola County jail would be a bad idea, although that would be the jurisdiction where the murder was committed. I'm sure Ben has plenty of friends working there.

I assume there will be a request made by the defense for a change of venue from Batesville, but where? It's not like this case hasn't received nationwide attention.

I found this tragic case from near Panola County where the defendant was granted a change in venue. The drowning murder occurred at Arkabutla Lake involving a 7yo little girl. AL is a reservoir that encompasses DeSoto / Tate counties, Mississippi.

Brandon, Miss., Oct. 11, 2000

"Troy Carlisle, 28, told authorities he was trying to save Dallas Reinhardt when he removed her life jacket ... "

"A ‘Depraved Heart’ Statute He originally was charged under a 130-year-old Mississippi law called “depraved heart murder,” which is filed when someone is suspected of placing another person in imminent danger of death."

"A man was convicted of a reduced charge of manslaughter today for wresting a 7-year-old girl’s life jacket away from her and leaving her to drown in a Mississippi lake."

Goggle map from Courtland (Panola Co.) Northward to Arkabutla Lake (Desoto Co.) indicates they are 49.5 miles apart. From Arkabutla Lake to Brandon, MS, where the trial was held, is appx. 200.4 miles south.

I live in MS and we currently have a few suspects in my own county waiting for trial. In every case they house the ones arrested for the murders in other counties. It's my opinion they do this for safety of the suspect so they are not incarcerated with their peers and at risk being hurt or killed or to keep talk down. Mississippi has its fair share if not more of jail inmates being dead in the morning at breakfast call.

The Tellis support group arrived late for the hearing. They brought an infant with them.

QVT did not appear to have lost any weight during his incarceration.

QVT gave a hand sign by using a closed fist with his thumb and little finger pointing out as he was led to the exit door. I am not sure of the meaning of the gesture made with his handcuffed hand.

QVT gave a quick slight grin (duping delight?) as he was being led out of the courtroom.

Questions:

I did not see Jessica's mother. Who were the people sitting on Jessica Lane Chambers' side? Her grandmother? Her father, Ben? And his wife? Jessica's sister? TIA

Are his attorney's court appointed? If so, why did they appoint lawyers from Jackson? Does one always receive two lawyers when using tax payer's dollars to fund their defense? Or is QVT/his family paying for the defense legal team? TIA

(6) half-sister by father's first marriage(in blue top)
(7) ?person with blonde ponytail (I did not see her face and don't recognize her from behind.)
