Since the first person listed there is now identified, it makes me wonder how often exclusions are updated/corrected?
I don’t think it’s too often as I see a few all the time that have been identified up to 2 years ago.

Yet another missing person case that seems like a domestic homicide that was covered up. The defensive behavior of the mother and her attempt to control the narrative is telling. Why is it that so many of these cases seem to have had a botched investigation/sloppy police work? Poor Leigh.

My theory is that Leigh and her mother got into a heated argument which went too far. There is evidence that suggests Leigh was being physically abused at home. Perhaps she was at the age where she was staring to fight back and it escalated too far?
I have wondered if it was Leigh who left the blood smears. She may have been the one who put the bloodied nightgown into the wash, so as not to further anger her mother. The mother drives to work, starts to worry about what she's done, and panics when there's no answer. For me, that sounds more plausible than the hurricane story. My only snag with this scenario is that I don't know if there was enough time between the mother returning home and calling the police for her to dispose of Leigh's body? It could be that the attack happened the night before and her alibi was all planned out that morning.

Bumping for Leigh. She was my age. I hope there will be a resolution to her case.

Last updated October 30, 2024; details of disappearance updated.

Foul play is strongly suspected in Leigh's disappearance, which remains unsolved. In October 2024, she was declared legally dead at the request of both her parents.

I can't shake the feeling I have about the mother. According to Leigh's father, when she called him to tell him Leigh was missing, she downplayed it made it seem as if Leigh ran away, and didn't mention the blood. Why would an intruder attempt to clean the crime scene, specifically the blood? An intruder would not take the risk or waste time to do that.

The mother VF, seemed more than willing and even eager to blame Leigh's disappearance on a local sex offender, who has since died. It seems a little too convenient if you ask me. From what I've read, her parents are not on speaking terms, and Leigh's father felt that VF didn't seem interested in searching for Leigh.

So much time as passed, the house wasn't treated as a crime scene, so much evidence was undoubtedly lost and/or destroyed. Leigh didn't deserve this.

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Federal and state agencies are searching a ditch in a Tupelo neighborhood where a 13-year-old girl disappeared more than 30 years ago.

I wonder what prompted this.

I am curious too.

It could be a number of things. Retesting evidence or re-interviewing possible suspects? I always wondered if there was any evidence on the glasses or the envelope it was in. It was addressed to the step-dad if I am recalling correctly.

Either way I’m glad to hear that this is being looked at again. :-)

Has anyone seen the broadcast special featuring Leigh's half-sister Lauren? It's available on YouTube. Very interesting.

I haven't. What's a good title to search for?
