Broderick Kendell Varnado, 25, of Hattiesburg has been charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Varnado is being held in the Forrest County Jail awaiting his initial appearance which is scheduled for Friday.

Varnado was previously indicted in January 2014 in Forrest County for a sexual battery charge stemming from a Jan. 2006 to Dec. 2007, incident involving touching of a child under the age of 14. According to the indictment, Varnado engaged in the act of sexual intercourse.

He entered a guilty plea in court in August of 2014, and was sentenced to 10 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine. Varnado's sentence was suspended, all but time served, and pursuant to and in conformity with post-release supervision for 5 years.

I don't know why, but when I saw this picture I lost it. I've kept my tears in check from the day this horrible case was announced, but this simple picture does something to me. God Bless Hattiesburg, my home state of Mississippi, all the officers at HPD and the families of these two fallen officers.

Reporter @WDRBNews

officer deen and officer tate have been on my mind so much lately and i always keep this thread open as well.......i've been searching for updates and i have been very frustrated not being able to find anything......

so i contacted ryan moore, the reporter with WDAM who's work is scattered throughout this thread. ryan was not only a friend of officer deen's but did a phenomenal job covering the tragedy and funerals of both officers......

i confirmed with him what i thought to be true.....that all seven of the arrestees (there are nine total but two were given relatively low bonds and have been released) remain jailed.....all will be presented to the grand jury when they next meet.......

i have asked when that will be and will report here when i am notified of such.......i also let ryan know of our thread here at WS and told him i hoped that he would visit and read soon and thanked him for his wonderful coverage........

i know that this will be the first father's day that officer deen's children will be without him......i will be sending special prayers their way tomorrow :heartbeat:.....bless them.....and i'll also be thinking of the fathers of these brave men, bless you as well :heartbeat:

just wanted to update everyone..........

:rose: officer benjamin deen - rest in peace sir, with honor
:rose: officer liquori tate - rest in peace sir, with honor

Please keep the Deen family in your thoughts and prayers. Officer Deen's 13-year-old daughter passed away night before last. She was ill with a virus. This family has been through so much lately.

That is so, so sad. Condolences and strength to the family.

Psalm 82:3-4

3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Rest easy my Brothers, for we now have the watch.
