Found Deceased MT - Amy Harding-Permann, 34, Great Falls, 26 Jan 2020

I just listened to a podcast that colors my opinion on what *could* have happened. In the podcast, a woman tells the story of her husband’s psychotic break (after starting meds for depression) and how she had to call 911 after he had an altercation with her, thought she had killed their dog, and then fled the house in her car. Thankfully he ended up ok at his parents’ house.

It just makes me wonder about her mental state and perhaps 911 was called more for her safety than for his. MOO..there’s just a lot we don’t know.

Do we know if her divorce was recent?

Police came for an assault call. Don't know how many officers arrived. Don't know when a search actually started.
The search began quickly - probably as soon as LE learned she wasn't dressed for the weather. They called in SAR and Malmstrom AFB to help in the search overnight. The next morning, they had K-9's, a helicopter, and a drone with FLIR capability as well as volunteer firefighters, more deputies, etc. MOO

Volunteers requested to help in the search for Amy Harding-Permann
[...]

.... He says that with improving weather conditions, he is asking people who wish to help in the search to meet at Faith Lutheran Church (1300 Ferguson Drive) at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and be prepared to assist until sunset.

Slaughter asks that volunteers be at least 18 years old, in good health, and wear weather-appropriate clothing. He asked that volunteers also bring and wear a safety vest (such as used for hunting) or a life-jacket (such as used for boating). Bring your own water and a sack lunch, along with identification and a cell phone. He stressed that safety of the volunteer searchers is critical.

Anyone that would like to help but is not able to participate in the search is welcome to bring bottled water and/or snacks to the search headquarters on Wednesday. People that show up to help after the initial meeting time of 7:30 a.m. may be utilized in another capacity.

Don't know if she was intending to harm herself, but if so, she didn't need any of those things.

Of course, please forgive me. I hope that Amy is found safe, and her boyfriend is doing well.

I wondered about her state of mind as well. Is it possible there was a breakup, she didn't take it well, and threatened to hurt herself on the way out the door? I also don't think the 8,000 SF home is hers, she may be living there, but I think it's likely his home. Small detail, but the media keeps referring to it as "her home".

That brings me to whether Amy's son lives there also? There were several pictures of Amy & JV on her facebook page from 2018, but they trailed off in 2019. Trouble in the relationship lately?

There's just not a lot of places Amy could have went to on foot out there. I'm really hoping this was not a case of self-harm :(

But no idea of her last contact besides him? I haven’t checked her FB but did she have any likes or comments ? Just how long has she been missing ? Anything from her parents or family members or friends ??? I’m not seeing anything here on her thread yet that anyone has commented so far ...

Yes, property records for Montana show JV is the sole owner of that home at that address. Amy is the sole owner of a home on 39th Ave NE in Great Falls.

He called at 8:19 pm and the police showed up ten minutes after that.
Right. But just because he called at 8:19 pm, that doesn't mean he told the truth about what time 'she left.'

They may have had a bad fight at 6 pm, and he didn't get around to calling 911 until 2 hours later because he was too busy staging the scene....hypothetically speaking.

I am late to the party here, but I do have questions.

Why are we assuming that the boyfriend is telling an accurate story. I mean IF his version is correct, than we would have to worry that she might be upset and thinking of self harm.

But is there any previous history of that? It doesn't seem like it to me.

I know facebooks are notoriously misleading---but I still see a stable young Mom, seemingly devoted to her family, and a lot of co-workers from the hospital commenting and seemingly appreciative and respectful of her.

What do we know about the boyfriend? How do we know his story is truthful?

I found a picture of Amy with JV dated in July 2015, so IMO if it was recent, she had already moved on years ago.

This morning neighbors weren't willing to go on camera, but they did have some interesting news. One neighbor says she heard her dogs barking around the same time Amy went missing. She said it was quite odd for them to be barking at that time of night for no reason.

Yesterday Amy assaulted her boyfriend John VanGilder right before she left.
Today John is telling us there were no serious injuries, but wouldn't go into details.
John also says that sheriffs found her phone at the house and now has it in their custody.

A lot of people have asked is their foul play be involved here. Sheriff Slaughter says that in a case like this there will always be cause for suspicion.
Sheriffs are now looking for the communities help in the search for Amy Hardings

Lots of friends (and her old prom date) are worried about her they’ve been posting a lot. What the prom date says is interesting, though, IMO.

I'm not assuming the story is accurate, katy. I had the same feeling I did when Shanann was missing without her purse, phone, keys, etc. MOO

Cause for suspicion, yes, there is cause for suspicion. I’m only speaking for myself, here, but if it were me and I was mad at my boyfriend and threw a box of cereal at him (or something), if I were going to leave (even spur of the moment) I’d make sure to grab my phone and a coat. Especially in those temps. I’d also have my keys to get into my car that has a heater.

Never would I run off in thin clothes, no phone, etc. it seems very suspicious.
