Updated article:

"A man who authorities are calling a person of high interest in the deaths of a Deer Lodge mother and her son isn’t well-known by local residents.

When interviewed Wednesday, business owners and store clerks said they remembered waiting on David Wayne Nelson, 53, but nothing unusual was noted about the man who worked as a handyman in Deer Lodge".

Maybe not well-known, but he wasn't unknown. I haven't had the time today to dig into these new articles, but I fully expect LE in this case to turn over every slimy little rock and uncover everything, in their pursuit of justice for Beverly and Greg.

Interesting comment on the Help Find FB page: https://www.facebook.com/BevandGregGianonatti/

Apparently, LE think the man Beverly was having lunch with that day might not have been a mystery man at all, but could have been her son, Greg.

Interesting, yet that actually makes sense doesn't it? The people in the restaurant probably didn't know him, especially as he's the one that it was reported to live a quiet, private life and stayed to himself, unlike his mother who everyone seemed to know. I can't believe what that evil man did to them. :(

I find it shocking that locals wouldn't recognize Greg. Its not a very large place and he has lived there a while. You know he went out and about, as his neighbors took notice of his comings and goings. I'm sure he ate with his mom at local dining establishments now and then. They were described as being very close.

could she have gotten a safety deposit box?

I think this guy spent some quality time with the Giannonatti 's prior to their death. They may have told him where the gold bar was, truthfully. He may not have believed them........ he didn't like their answer......or.....he may have gotten it and buried it somewhere.

IF Nelson wasn't told where the gold bar was, then ransacking their homes makes sense. If he was told where the gold bar was, then I'm assuming that their homes were ransacked after it was announced they were missing, by opportunists and thieves made up from the same fabric that Nelson is.

What's hard to fathom here is that Beverly told no one what became of that gold bar, nobody legitimate that is. The sheriff has stated repeatedly that they haven't found the gold yet. I would think that if Beverly had told someone what she did with it, they would have come forward and offered up that information to LE by now. Her banker, her accountant, her pastor, her doctor, her lawyer, her best friend..........if any of those people knew where she put the gold, wouldn't they say so ?

What could she and Greg have done with it so that not a single person would know ? More so, why ? Why not get it to the bank to either cash it in or keep it secure ? It was 9 days from the time the gold bar was found, until she was seen eating lunch with the mystery man. 9 days.

I think if she had there would be record of that and the authorities could get that info from the bank. At this point, last I heard LE still considered the gold bar's whereabouts "unknown" so I don't think it would be in a safe deposit box.

Well, that's true too. Which I thought at first as well, but then after reading that post by Claire, I could see them not recognizing him as a possibility. My problem is I can see both possibilities. Which I don't particularly like, being that indecisive, lol. :sheesh:

I wonder if there was a secret cache area, underground or otherwise where her ex hid some of his valuables. Or, did the killer get it? :(

Yeah, I'm indecisive about it too. There certainly is a possibility that the witness that reported seeing Beverly at lunch did not know Greg. IIRC The sighting was at about 11 am, so the restaurant probably wasn't crowded at that time. Maybe whoever was waiting on tables was new.

So this killer stole bars of silver and sold them to a gold and silver business.

So, he did admit to killing them and was the one that lead LE to the bodies.

Then there is this: The affidavit and petition said Nelson stole 17 100-ounce silver bars belonging to Greg Giannonatti and sold them to Grizzly Gold and Silver in Missoula on Oct. 23.

The Giannonattis went missing Oct. 28 along with a 25-pound gold ingot — worth an estimated $480,000.

So did he go back for the gold bar or did they confront him about the missing silver and that lead to their murder? I wish LE would give us a little more info. Do they think he has the gold bar?

ETA: The affidavit says that the silver bars were stolen from 86 Larkspur. That is the father's house, which is also were the gold bar was found. http://mtstandard.com/david-wayne-n...pdf_ea9af205-074a-5f6c-ae42-473d149c48cb.html

The affidavit says he killed Bev and Greg on or about September. I thought that was odd.
Was that a misprint?

He obviously had stolen and pulled off selling the silver bars prior to any kidnapping or murder of Beverly or Greg. I wonder what/when he decided to go further and why? (the gold bar) and if so, if he admitted to murder, and admitted to theft of the silver, then why not the gold.....there is yet another piece missing to this puzzle. IMHO
