Some of those pics show kids half his size. Could he really play football with little kids?
Well, my kid would not have been on his team. He could have killed someone.
Oh, he did....

Idk why grandma Batty did not buy a one way plane ticket for James, send him back to his mom. Idk how any person lives in a home with such turmoil & chaos.

That's my main mystery too. She told her friend she just didn't like him, it's obvious that III hated him, probably jealous of James and hating himself for being grotesque.

So why didn't they send him home, or if they didn't want to spend the bus fare from Montana to Texas, ask Mom for it.

I hope MT BOE thoroughly checkout everyone volunteering to coach. I have doubts if Sasser jr was qualified to mentor boys.
Also, as large & aggressive as #3 is, was FB a good idea? I think not. Perhaps power walking & a balanced diet.

I would also like to know the last time James was out of the house. Did he go to the stores or any public venue? Did the family ever have guests over? I guess not. It might be hard to explain a blood splattered home, a lifeless 12yo duct taped to his obese chuncle (my word, chubby uncle).
In my state hone schooled children can participate in school sports. So I’m still not sure if uncle attended school.
I bet Madison’s friends know a lot.

Imagine casually texting a friend that her brother probably killed James, then turning over to go to sleep. Maybe Batts did homeschool all of them, but I still doubt it.

Nothing about this family is normal, on any scale.

Thinking about what the police -detectives thought upon arrival to the house, with poor James laying dead, and the aloof response(s) from PS and the rest of the family. Then-think about what they thought when they actually SAW with their own eyes-on video -the multiple recordings of repeated beatings, torture, mocking verbal abuse of that boy? Those police probably need counseling after that! Dysfunction my azz! This family was a evil twisted mess! The giant sized "Uncle" who dished out punishment on Grandmas wishes? A child begging and crying to use the bathroom while tortured? It's all just too much!

@shotgun09 I almost need counseling after reading about James.

And your friend thinks nothing of it. I have an image in my head......maybe some back & forth texts, asking for a photo, then sharing, etc.
sick

He's only been there about 2 years. IIRC. One of those articles above says that he moved in with them after the father died, about 2 years ago. I don't know where he lived before that, while the father was still alive, but I don't think he was in Montana very long. (James).
I thought he had lived with his mother in Texas before he went to his dads in Montana. Am I mistaken?

He did. But we are unsure of when he moved to MT. Or why, really. Maybe his dad wanted more time with him, maybe James requested to move, maybe bio mom was embarking on a new life???

Same here. It is one of the worst I've seen, and I've seen a few
This is trite to say, but truth is indeed stranger than fiction. No one would have written a work of fiction such as this horror because the author would know that no one would read past those horrible, cruel, and unbelievable words about this all-too-real event.
But now our James is far, far away from this utter madness -- in a place of peace and love.

I hope he had some good days.

@mickey2942 do you think chunkle Sasser was abused when he was younger? Or, do you tend to believe the bio kids were not tortured?

fyi, I think all were abused emotionally.

I don't know, abuse in families can be selective. I think in this situation, James Hurley was the "chosen" one.

The whole mess is beyond comprehension. Reading the charging documents was truly horrific.

Definitely not bed time reading. Honestly, if I worked in the jail, I’d have a hard time passing either one a food tray.
It would be most difficult for me to remain professional, and do my job. I think I’d find myself staring at them, like I was looking at a zoo exhibit.

because his mom was embarking on a new life? Not really. He went to live with his dad after his dad was injured and lost his legs. Where was the dad before all of that???

Why is everyone blaming the mom??? She is a victim too. This thread is gross.
