With Labor Day weekend, more people will be out in the park hiking. I hope that she will be found. The bow hunt starts next week, and while no one hunts in the park, more people stop in the area to wander around.

I wouldn't be surprised if snow starts in a week or two. Hopefully she will be found before that.

Did she use any apps, or have any particular trails marked? Had she discussed where she might be headed?

She had a garmin fenix 6s. She had two trails listed . She was around Logan pass possibly on high line trail or dragons tail

Is it possible to get turned around and lost on these trails?

Years ago I used to work summers at Glacier, Lake McDonald lodge and have gone back to hike several times.
My heart goes out to this family and missing woman.
Both trails that are mentioned are for at least somewhat experienced hikers imo.
I do have hope that she will be located, I'm sad for her loved ones that it is September 3rd and she still hasn't been.

I have worked at many of our national parks, I am guilty of this myself... But I just wish people would not go hiking alone, regardless of skill level or familiarity with the location. There is often no cell service and you can find yourself in a bind before you know it, it happens to the best of them.

All around terrible situation.

Totally gutted just sitting here and waiting and wondering. I think temperatures aren’t that bad and water is accessible so keeping hope alive

It is possible to slip/trip and fall...

Getting turned around would lead to the beginning of the trail... As in they don't have other trails leading off that she would take a wrong turn onto and they're not looped trails. You hike in and hike back out...

So it would be unlikely to be lost More likely to be injured?

Always keep hope alive. We are miraculous beings with a built in desire and fight inside us to stay alive.
I have hope that she's alive. If she has water there's certainly hope.

I would think injured but from a fall.

But maybe she wanted to take some pics and went off trail and got lost. All possible outcomes have to be considered and then eliminated.
If injured and on the trail, it would seem she would have been located by a hike of both trails by searchers.
If lost and not injured it seems she would have been found by searchers as well.

Imo, if she went on Dragon's, she may have fallen.

This is sad.

I would think the rangers would know where to look for people who fell? Is it that difficult if a trail that people fall off?

Dragons is at different areas. And you can fall hundreds of feet, and sadly it wouldn't be easy for rangers to see/know where to look. It's hard to really see the massiveness of this park if you haven't been there, and Dragon's has ridgelines exposed on both side in some locations. While the entirely of the hike isn't dangerous (it's a beautiful hike) you do at times, hike over shall rock and it's extremely easy to slip and fall or get caught in a shift of rock that takes you off the ridgeline. Most that get in a terrible situation have dropped something while hiking the shall or ridgeline and try to get it. And then they fall. You can't just walk to the edge, look over and see the bottom like looking off the roof of a building to the ground. So I imagine rangers would still have a hard time looking, even with a general idea of where someone is *likely to fall.

The first 1/3 of Dragons tail trail is really the only place to get lost, or be stuck.

JohnMarch I am so sorry for all you and those who love her are going through! Thank you so much for joining us, hopefully together we can soon celebrate her being found safe! I went to Glacier this early June and was surprised how warm it was- hoping this means the weather has been decent for Jenn as she awaits rescue. The area is vast but I believe in the locals there- seemed very kind and caring- and that they will work diligently to find her! I am so glad to hear she is a strong fighter who doesn’t give up! We have seen incredible stories of survival here and Jenn will hopefully be added to that list. Adding Jenn to my prayers as well as each of you who love her.

I wish I knew of a place near that could put drones up to look for her.

When we were last on the phone with Jen we were talking about the navy seal make your bed graduation speech by Admiral Mcraven and the girls said they would never ring the bell. She’s a fighter please help find her I know she hasn’t quit.
Could you explain? I don’t understand this post.

Anyone familiar with the park, how is cell phone service there? Are there areas without it?
There won’t be any cell phone service in Glacier except maybe perhaps in the congested areas. Any time you get canyons, mountains, backcountry, large forests, or any one of those, there is no cell service, or it’s so unreliable, you can’t predict it’ll be there. IIRC The biggest exception to this rule of thumb is that Oregon has towers above tree line in the Cascades deliberately to facilitate SAR. You still have to find a good spot for an emergency call, but the possibility is not entirely absent.
A hiker would want to carry a PLB anywhere in the backcountry, especially somewhere like Glacier. Bear spray, too. But definitely a PLB. And a solo hiker? Absolutely no question.
