MT MT - Jermain 'Liz' Morigeu (Charlo), 23, Missoula, 15 Jun 2018

But I’m encouraged by the DA’s words stated tonight on 48 hours - “you only get one bite at the apple, only one shot. So I want to gather as much information to ensure a successful prosecution. It’s my belief we are close to moving forward in this case”.

She goes on to state it’s her hope someone comes forward, provides them with a new lead that produces justice.

IMO, it’s clear what happened to Jermaine, Michael Defrance killed her.

Jermaine’s Aunt spoke to her in a dream. She asked her, where is your body? Jermaine replied, in Evaro. That gave me chills.

Police have searched for 23-year-old missing mom Jermain Charlo since she vanished in June 2018 from Missoula.

Just before midnight on Friday, June 15, 2018, Charlo is seen on video walking down a street in downtown Missoula. A man is walking a few paces behind her. In a second excerpt, Charlo is socializing outside a local bar called The Badlander. The same man is standing behind her. Just before midnight, Charlo and the man leave the area and disappear into the night.

MD's body posture in the video seems as if he is irritated or a least uncomfortable with Jermaine talking to the others. In other words, he's not in control.

I think it went something like this - after they leave the bar - sometime after midnight in his truck, they begin to argue.

Shortly before 1 AM a call comes in from Jacob, the guy Jermaine was dating. She intended to spend the night at his house (he was out of town). The call was silenced, never answered.

It's unknown whether Jermaine was alive at that time, either she silenced the call - not wanting to infuriate MD further. Or he had control of her phone by that time.

Jermaine's phone begins pinging off a tower 14 miles from the bar, from 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM before it goes dead. This area is where MD lived called Evaro Hill.

IMO, I think it's possible that MD may have panicked and called someone for help to get rid of Jermaine's body. Could she be in the Evaro Hill area, absolutely. Searches with cadaver dogs have occured there over the years, but it's a huge wilderness area. Akin to looking for a needle in a haystack. But I feel she could be elsewhere if he had help.

After the ping information became known, MD changed his story and said Jermaine left her phone in his truck. He was a truck driver at the time and said he threw her phone out in Idaho, while he was on a road trip. LE looked for the phone and never found it. Was he saying this as a "look here, not there" tactic?

IMO, LE knows he had help - someone has information that could bring this case to a close. I wouldn't be surprised if they have in partnership with the FBI, wire tapped certain people's phones over the years, trying to get incriminating information.

Hopefully the 48 Hour Special yields new information for LE. Michael deFrance is on the national hotseat now, wouldn't want to be in his shoes. Is someone else feeling the same pressure? Ready to crack under the weight of what they know or helped do?

Why in the world did they not release that video before now?
Yes, and wonder if they have located the two other individuals in that conversation? And if so what might they have told investigators?

There was mention IIRC in the 48 Hours episode last night that MD had rolled up his sleeves and seemed a bit agitated at JLMC talking with the other two gentlemen.

My observation from the last images of MD and JLMC leaving…… she seemed perhaps disinterested in him at that point. Maybe even upset and just wanting to leave. He is trailing and IIUC had driven them both to that location? So unless she had called another, was relying on him for the ride. Maybe someone will confide in another. And IIUC he is or was briefly locked up for the weapons charge? Wonder if he said anything incriminating while detained? MOO

Detectives spoke to multiple people who were in the alley, including the man standing behind Charlo. He's Michael DeFrance, Charlo's ex-boyfriend and the father of her two children. Charlo and DeFrance had plans together that night, though it's not clear why they met up or what they discussed.

DeFrance was sentenced in September 2023 to 21 months in prison and was given a lifetime ban on firearms and ammunition. On the same day, DeFrance filed an appeal. He has not served any time pending that appeal.

“I think they did an amazing job. I think the fact that it’s hit this huge national level — 48 Hours airs nationally here, but once it gets on YouTube, then it’s on a worldwide basis," Valenda said.

“Seeing the footage of how many people were in that alleyway and the people walking by, somebody had to have seen something. My hope is that maybe somebody from out of town was here to visit a friend and saw something that they didn’t think was important at the time. I’m hoping one of those people comes forward to help us get that one small piece of the puzzle we’re missing.”

Circumstances of Disappearance:
Defrance and Charlo spent a considerable amount of time socializing with several groups of people in the alley behind The Badlander until around midnight. They are on camera walking to the end of the alley away from the bar. Charlo has not been seen since. Defrance told two different stories about his next steps. He told Charlo's family he dropped her at Orange Street, near the Food Farm. However, Defrance told Missoula Police detective Guy Baker he dropped Charlo off in a neighborhood about 8 blocks from the Orange Street Food Farm. Phone records track both Charlo's phone and Defrance's phone to a cell tower about three miles from the Defrance family home around 2:00 am on June 16, 2005.

IMO, there is enough circumstantial evidence to bring this case to trial. In the special I watched a few months ago, the DA sounded as if she would do just that? Six years is a very long wait for justice ... SMH.

We know who is responsible for Jermain’s disappearance and murder. When will an arrest take place? The DA stated it would happen on national TV. Still waiting …
