Now I'm completely confused again. I thought the card was only used for gas in Kingston, Idaho. Did someone also put $25 worth of gas in a car using her card in Ritzville, WA as well?

I do know those two locations are 121 miles a apart. Would a car even use enough gas in 121 miles to have room in the tank for $25 worth in Ritzville? If the card was used for gas in both locations I wonder if more than one car is involved or if Rita's car never actually went to Ritzville at all? I wonder how much gas was in the tank when they found her car?

In the timeline it reads that the credit card was used in the a convenience store in Kingston at 4:15. But it was used to get gas in Ritzville at 9:55. Not sure how accurate the first stop was. But they would have video.

This is where I read what the cousin said. It is a quote. JMO

But then the daughter is saying it was used at the pump...? So confusing.

Yes it is very confusing. Both the DM reporter and Rita's family member went to talk to the gas station attendants at Loves in Ritzville and got the same story about a large man using her card. DM got the photo and claimed that same photo was given to police before them. I guess we should take what the workers say as rumor. Maybe they were not really the ones working and they are passing on what they heard from co-workers? Maybe the manager who gave the photo messed up and didn't give them the right time frame? I'm a a loss to explain why the FBI says (according to Rita's daughter's comments) that the Loves employee in the DM photo doesn't even exist! I did try to look for someone by her name in Ritzville and could not find anyone but I thought maybe her last name was misspelled by the paper. If the DM completely made up that person and that interview, then shame on them. They claimed to speak to more than one employee as well. It just baffles me. :gaah:

Rita's daughter is saying that the card was used at the pump in Ritzville and there are no cameras. Further adding to the confusion of the family statements.

**I would not put it past the DM to have paid the employees to answer a certain way, or more likely to just make the statements up. IF the employees did say that, I wonder how the FBI can see any of their previous statements as credible.

I think the fact is, NO ONE saw the person who pumped the gas JMO

I think the mystery has to be solved by the forensics team and the Medical Examiner. Surely they can determine if her story was correct---that she was locked in the trunk for hrs after being hit in the back of head---and that she was shot while in the trunk, by someone else. I hope they have an experienced, dedicated team figuring that out.

So, did the car make it all the way from Helena to Ritzville before needing gas? If the car actually went to Wolf Creek before detouring on the route to Ritzville that is 415 miles. If it didn't go to Wolf Creek as Rita claimed it would only be 369 miles. My sedan (different model and year) could make it 369 miles but it would be on fumes.

I agree.

The family believes Rita was abducted by a large man, so they say a large man used her card. I think that's where the confusion starts in MSM reports. They are reporting is as fact. In reality, we have the family's belief and no proof.

It's likely they do. I think that's why it's so quiet, lots of things to rule in or out

Or someone at the gas station pulled a fast one one the DM, and gave them misleading info in exchange for a big sum.

Another mini mystery is 2 spent casings in the trunk but only 1 shot to chest and abdomen. Where is the first bullet?? JMO

They've only released that she died of one shot. It's possible there were two shots, but one was not a contributing factor to her death. Or, one shot didn't make contact.

ETA: I don't know anything about how guns work, so I may be misunderstanding. Anything I say about guns has the potential to be irrelevant, lol.

And the gun was found BESIDE her body not in her hands. If she shot herself in the chest would she have time to drop the gun beside her body before she died?

I don't think Rita committed suicide. I also don't think they know who took her, why, and where he was headed.

I do think that when 911 called her cell phone, the guy decided it was time to bail from his plan.

If the blood splatter or other evidence is all over the inside of the trunk door then it was probably suicide. In the absence of any activity against the inside of the trunk door, AND she has evidence of having been hit over her head hard enough or in just the right place to knock her out, I think they need to be looking for someone crazy and dangerous out there.

All my opinion, and all ALSO hinging on Rita NOT being the one spotted driving or purchasing any time after the rest stop.

Police aren't talking so we just don't know anything yet.

Her story could both be incorrect and she could be murdered. If say for financial gain, she could have tried to pull off a scam faking her own kidnapping using either a stranger for-hire or an acquaintance of hers, but in the end it turned out she hired a psychopath or the acquaintance had some kind of grudge so they turned a stunt for financial gain into a real murder. I think if she had survived as part of a scam, she not only would have found herself $10Ks richer in donations for surviving a high profile kidnapping, but she and her husband would find jobs quickly and probably better paying than the last ones they had.

There could have been two shots, but only one fatal shot, like for instance the other shot could have been a non-fatal grazing shot.

Tillicum said she believes that that gun ejects casings to the right....if so, and someone shot her, it seems like the casings would not have been in the trunk......all depends on trajectory, I guess. JMO
