Found Deceased MT - Rita Maze, 47, Wolf Creek, 6 Sept 2016 #2

well, the local news is saying the FBI is still "mum" awaiting lab tests.......what lab tests?......gun shot residue is pretty straight forward and so are finger prints...they know the manner of death....they have the body....they have the murder weapon....they have the car she was in....the must have pics of whomever got gas in her car and even if they were fuzzy pics, the difference between rita and a large man would be obvious....

I think they got a guy in jail already on unrelated charges and do not want to call him a POI or a suspect yet........I think they are trying to rule him in.......

well, its all very strange no matter what.

I'm still conflicted over both Cheryl & Rita's cases. At first I thought both were homicides, then after reading all the opinions here I thought 'well, maybe it was a suicide'. But then again, what do I know.....? I'm still perplexed with both cases.

I think Rita committed suicide and the thing that's most confusing to me is where did she get this idea? It's a complicated and unique plan. I've searched and found fake abductions and kidnappings and car trunk suicides but so far nothing that puts the two together. I doubt she googled anything (there's at least one specific site explaining methods) so there might not be anything on her computer pointing to this.

For no reason other than gut feeling I think the plan started to germinate after the carjacking/abduction in Helena. Maybe she wished something like that would happen to her and she decided to do it herself.

Me too.

I think she got the idea rather recently, though, and used that past event in Helena as inspiration for a cover story.

* It was Brogan Dulle - he was a student at the University of Cincinnati. I can't believe I forgot his name. I cried when they found him.

Kosta Karageorge was the Ohio State football player we have a thread for when he was missing. His death was a suicide, and he was found in a dumpster.

My comment about the past event in Helena was referring to the incident I quoted....there was a car-jacking case in Helena last year that received coverage in local press. It's been discussed previously on this case as well as referenced in post #102.

"that past event in Helena"...please refresh me..."what" past event in Helena?

Branden Conrad Miesmer - murder suspect, carjacker, barefoot fugitive:

In Helena, Dutton said they stopped at a convenience store where the two captives told a clerk they'd been kidnapped. The clerk called police. The captives apparently got back in the car with Miesmer, but were eventually able to convince him to let them go, Dutton said.

Officers spotted the vehicle Miesmer was driving at the Custer Avenue interchange with Interstate 15 and pursued him north of town. He exited at Lincoln Road and at some point hit a raccoon, damaging the vehicle. At the intersection of Lincoln Road and Hauser Dam Road, Miesmer forced a man and two children out of their car. Miesmer turned up Hauser Dam Road, but abandoned the car near the dam and fled on foot, Dutton said.

As of October 4 2016 the FBI is still being "MUM" - this is ridiculous! I hope the family is being kept in the loop. I feel awful for them and hope they can get closure.

this is ridiculous....are we to just forget about this little "incident" as if finding a dead body inside a trunk after several police agencies had been bolo for is person is just an everyday occurrence?...\

what are they checking out?...what is mystifying them?...

I wonder if they are up to something?....I wonder if there is another car missing from the area that Rita was found....it has to be something IMO to not have a conclusion after nearly a month.
I'm going to be in Great Falls in a day or so, and I think I'll just ask a couple of locals what the local vibes are....

I have just perused families FB accounts. It seems very telling to me that none of them are making pleas for anyone that has seen anything suspicious to come forward. Any please to catch her killer or anything along this vein. Her sister hasn't talked about it being a homicide since 09/11. I'm pretty sure they have been told privately the actual circumstances. This is just jmo. I could very well be wrong, but I do doubt it.

No matter the outcome, it's very sad. And if it is ruled suicide, what a doubly cruel and selfish act to not just take away the wife and mom of this family, but you put them through the torture of those harrowing phone calls. Just awful.

I agree on all points. This family hurts. Her sister seems so sad and lost without her. Their matriarch is sick and they are dealing with that also, and the daughter should be at the happiest point in her life! The only other reason I can fathom for the complete shutdown on info by police, as well as silence by family is if God forbid, a family member was complicit somehow.

Still, this case will haunt me. I try not to follow conflicting cases because I OCD on them. (Don't even ever get me started on JonBenet).

Maybe she thought the truth would never be discovered. And if they did believe the carjacking story they wouldn't blame themselves.

I know it seems manipulative and selfish from our perspective but nothing I've read or heard paints her as that kind of woman well-loved by family and friends.

She doesn't seem to be anything at all like the woman in Texas who killed her daughters and then herself. She tortured her family. She was straight up evil.

When people are desperately suicidal their thoughts probably aren't that rational. So if it does turn out to be suicide maybe she thought that this was the best way to do it away from her family. It's very elaborate but not evil.

I agree, if she did this, she wasn't thinking clearly. I think she wasnt of very sound mind (if this is true). I don't believe she was trying to hurt anyone but herself.

Also, a part of me really wonders if a family member did this to her for insurance. Idk. I hope we hear the truth of it once and for all.

spent the night in GF but did not get any inside rumors, etc.......

I too looked at facebook postings...none...

could be that the cops told the family that it was definitely suicide and they are just trying to cross their t's and dot they're i's....OR they could have told them keep vevy quiet about it all....

if this was suicide, its indeed a very sad tragic event....perhaps Rita thought that being murdered will salvage any life insurance she might have had......in any case, Rita died a very hard death and I'm so sorry this happened...

Does anyone know if they were religious - there are some rleigions that really disgrace suicide - I have wondered if this about something about a god does not like it or soemthing like that. Is that a very religious community where they live?

the case and say it could be months before they release an official statement regarding the circumstances about her death and alleged kidnapping.

Can anyone think of any case that has been solved in recent months? I am drawing a blank
