Wow! In his Myspace Page, Spell still looks like his nose had been broken already, but it looks like that picture was taken in much "happier" days!
I too thought I saw that as well.
Could he have taken a back route because he was attempting fly under the radar as much as possible?
Something else that has puzzled me: if Spell decided to return to CO early on he had a number of days to get there, yet as far as we know he was found relatively close to the scene of the crime.
I know I've heard that truckers use meth speed to keep them going since they often times need to work for longer stretches of time. I think I've heard that the companies that drill into our beautiful oceans are required to work long stretches of time too (ie: 3-4 days long shifts/ 3-4 days off). If that is the case I wonder if that holds true for the land oil drilling?
IF that is the case I wonder if that is something that attracted Waters to drilling oil or even to supplying drugs to oil workers.
These two are such an odd couple I just have to wonder if the connection is related to criminal behavior.
Here is the route from Williston to Rapid City. What I'm having difficulty with concerning Spell going to Rapid City is IF he took this bus he could have gotten off at Billings, MT, Buffalo, WY, or Gillette, Wy and gotten to Denver and then to Parachute. At Buffalo, WY he would have been on I-25 and about 6 hours north of Denver. Doesn't make sense to me. If there was someone in Williston who had connections to Rapid City, he could have gotten a ride with them and hid out in Rapid City. :waitasec: There may well have been a third person involved.

After the article about Spell's family. I was wondering about Waters' family. So, I did a little checking in the Indian River Clerk of Courts site. It seems that he has been married to a K Waters, they had a disolution done in 2004. All of kinds of judgments and court cases relating to Waters and his ex-wife suing for child support. I am not sure how many children that they had, but it looks like two and then another woman sued for child support too. Doesn't seem to be anything else for the past two years though. I would assume he left Florida two years ago or didn't have any kind of run in with the law. With his background I would find that hard to believe. Interesting that we haven't heard from his family...yet. IMO
Where are you getting this info about truckers and oil drillers using meth?? It seems pretty insensitive to paint everyone with that broad brush of yours. My husband, while in college, worked one week on, one week off on a drilling rig in the beautiful ocean. He's been an oil man for 30 years. Never used meth. Don't know anyone who is.
Anyway, here is a page from the internet a grabbed from the internet about this issue:
The primary users of methamphetamine in South Carolina are Caucasian. Commercial truck drivers use the drug to increase alertness, crack abusers switch to methamphetamine for its longer-lasting euphoric effects and lower cost, and young people use the drug at rave parties. Among high school students in South Carolina, females (7.2%) were nearly as likely as males (8.8%) to report lifetime methamphetamine use, similar to national averages of 8.4 percent for females and 9.9 percent for males.

And then here is a lawsuit addressing it:

So anyway, here is a site that discusses the use of speed and other criminal activity that affect the communities where there is a lot of drilling.
Drugs and Crime
Many rural communities are experiencing a rise in drug use and drug-related crimes that either correspond with new oil and gas development or, in some cases, is directly linked to development in existing fields. The poster child for this phenomenon is methamphetamine or meth, whose production and use has become an epidemic that has engulfed rural communities going through an oil and gas boom. As documented by High Country News, the long hours and other rigors of the drilling schedule are fueling meth use. Related crime and costs to users and others in their families drive up emergency and social service costs.

Yesterday evening I posted that I thought that Sherry was last seen jogging by the post office.
I just looked and I can't find any articles that say that so I asked for that post to be removed.
I'm really, really sorry that I messed that up.
Confused here - help!
I might have missed how these two are linked to Sherry - I mean, where did it come from that they killed her?
I've tried to read everything, but probably missed this bit.
I believe that the one witness who gave a media interview, Lonnie Lyttle, mentioned the post office. It was on streaming video, not in print.
I do not have a link to back it up and I have a terrible memory, though.
