Thank You for welcoming me!!! I have been very disturbed by the thought of thinking these guys MIGHT have been around here since this summer. So they could know the country more than they are telling........I for one know that You can take back roads here.! From Richland county to Roosevelt to Sheridan into North Dakota, From any of these counties you can travel "dirt road" without traveling a WELL TRAVELD HWY.Into North Dakota, at the most if seen on a gravel road one would think you are just a rig worker reporting to work. These 3 counties are very big and there is alot of ol' farm steads with shelterbelts, ASWELL as North Dakota. My concerne is I dont think Alot of Farmers/Ranchers are not going to search around there common area of yard, but yet they might not have been home and there yard seemed vacant(to the perps).....just my thought, I belive in never leaving a stone unturned, The family and community of Sherry need her home, regardless!!!

Waters and Spell have been approved for court appointed attorneys for their hearings this afternoon. On the applications, both men say they are unemployed. Waters wrote that he works in construction when employed, and the only asset he listed was a 1992 Ford Explorer. Spell wrote that he performs "labor" when employed, and the only asset he listed was $11 in cash.
Court documents indicate Waters and Spell are scheduled to appear in court in Sidney on the aggravated kidnapping charges on Jan. 24 before Judge Greg Mohr.

It's hard to believe that these two bums were doing any kind of work at 6:30 AM (ie driving for a company).. or even looking for work that early in the morning. Thank God someone tipped the LE to them and they are sitting in jail.. I am hoping and praying they find Sherry before a deal is offered in exchange for the location

Unfortunately, there is lots of territory in that area with no cell coverage at all. If they had cell phones, then pings from areas that have coverage could provide some hints but probably not enough information to pinpoint where they hid her body.

My mom camps in Slope County for a few weeks every year, and there's no way to contact her via cell phone when she's out there. It's really just a lot of vast, empty land. I wouldn't believe how remote it is if I hadn't been there myself.

Q2 has not been able to obtain state District Court documents, but we have obtained a citation (below) out of the city of Sidney on aggravated kidnapping charges issued to both Waters and Spell. The citation was issued Jan. 7 at 6:40 a.m. for knowlingly or purposely or negligently "commit the offense of aggravated kidnapping by without lawful authority, restraining Sherry Arnold." The citation lists the location at 900 East Holly St., which is along the truck route that Arnold often ran on.

from the same link:

Spell's estranged brother spoke with CBS affiliate KREX-TV. He says he has spoken with his brother since he was detained and believes Spell was threatened by Waters.

"He [Spell] was going up there to work with this guy and came to find out the guy threatened Michael, my brother, that if he didn't do what he said and everything, he would come back and kill his little baby and his wife," he said.

Wonder why his brother is "estranged".

  • #107
So spell is married with child.

Yes, apparently. Only one child that we know of. He must not have a vehicle either since he didn't list one in his assets.

Just a thought...the first name I saw on Waters' alias list was Larry Chapman. Has anyone found any information under that name? I ask because the other aliases are relatively close to the name we have been provided. But Larry Chapman is quite different, so I wonder if that is an "alter ego"?

Or identity theft or fake identity. Something he learned in prison probably.

I'm still not feeling sorry for Spell. He is 6', taller than Waters, he could have diffused the situation.

Thank you....hopefully, the bashing of oil workers can be put to rest, now. The mayor should apologize.

The mayor did pretty much change his tune here, Amster:

Sidney Mayor Bret Smelser told Reuters in a weekend interview that city officials are seeking to ease the fears "that some of the female population have right now" by reestablishing the neighborhood watch program and examining other kinds of surveillance.

"We hope the community remains the same as it was ... a community that accepts outsiders, knowing that 99.9 percent want a better life just like the rest of us," he said.

I agree. I think he made up the whole story after he got caught. I'm not buying the "I was threatened by the scary man" story. Spell is no Boy Scout himself.

Missing Teacher Suspects Fighting Extradition

Two suspects in the disappearance of a high school teacher from eastern Montana are seeking a hearing that could delay their extradition to Montana.

This article has a photo of Waters in cuffs in the courtroom today.

Bail set at $2.5 million as men in missing teacher case fight extradition

Each of the accused opted not to waive extradition, and to have a hearing. According to Rustad, the state of Montana will have "clear and convincing evidence as its burden of establishing that the defendant is the person they are looking for and that their documentation is all in line with the law."

An extradition hearing for each of the defendants will be scheduled "within 10 days of receipt of the supporting documentation," Rustad said.

Both men appeared in court, and requested an extradition hearing when asked by the judge.

I just wanted to say one thing about the trucking industry and drugs. A DOT [Dept. Of Transportation] rep shows up and administers drug tests [urine tests] right there, the rep literally escorts the trucker to the rest room. If the test is dirty, the trucker is suspended on the spot and some companies policies are that they are fired. There may be independents that have issues but the industry, as a whole, is vigilant about truckers being clean.

11 dollars, iirc
