Turns out she did drive the quarter-mile to the casino, and drive home afterward.

Search party planned for Sherry Lankford, missing for 2+ weeks

As the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Sherry Lankford continues, friends of the missing 42-year-old Great Falls woman are taking action.

BF, a longtime friend of Sherry's, announced on Wednesday that a search party will be held on Sunday, beginning at at 11 a.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Lido Bar.

KRTV reporter Katie Stukey spoke with Sherry's son Derek on Tuesday afternoon; he said that he's been staying at the home since his mom's disappearance, but was out and about when police arrived this morning. He told her that police are "not saying much."

Family Search for Missing Woman Still Leaves Questions

Sherry Lankford, 42, disappeared from Great Falls three weeks ago. She was last seen at the Barrel O' Bucks Casino on March 13th. Last week a crime scene unit searched through Lankford's home. Two vehicles were seized from the property during that search.

Today a search party made up of about 40 family members and friends met at the Lido Bar to begin looking for Sherry Lankford near the Missouri River. The group then set up at the West Bank Park, sending people to search up and down the bank.

How do they know she made it home, just because her stuff did? Is that why they said she made it home, yet last seen at casino? Her stuff could have been put in the house, I suppose, by abductor...

I guess they don't KNOW she made it home, unless her son saw her after she returned. But that's an awful lot of work for an abductor, to drive her truck home, and leave her wallet and keys out. Possible, though, I guess. Either way, her home and the casino are less than a quarter mile apart. Pretty similar search area. They focused a lot on the river area today.

Crowd searches for missing woman

More than 250 people joined family and friends of Sherry Lankford on Sunday to search for the missing woman, but no leads were turned up.

"The whole west side got searched today," said Brian Foster, a friend of Lankford's and organizer of the search party.

Lankford, 42, was last seen three weeks ago. Earlier this week, it was announced on a Facebook page devoted to finding Lankford that a search party would be held on Sunday.

I'm glad they sent a CSI team to her house.

It does seem that she got into the house ... and would she have opened the door for someone after midnight?

No sign of struggle and her belongings still there. It does not seem likely that she left on her own, even with someone willingly, I think you'd grab your keys.

Unless she went outside to put trash out or something like that. Then I could see leaving the house without keys, wallet ...

When she went missing, Lankford's door was left open, and her keys, wallet and other belongings were still in the house, and her vehicle was parked at the residence, Fowler said.

By open, I assumed they meant unlocked, not ajar. JMO

The missing posters say she was wearing a coat. I wonder if that is because she was wearing that coat in the video, and that coat is missing from her house.

Sherry was wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt with a white North Face coat and brown shoes.

I also wondered why it took her son so long to report her missing (if the 3-day span is accurate).

I read "She was last seen on Sunday around 9 pm by her son at their house on the west side of town." and wondered whether he did not live with her as indicated, or was out of town after that.

Maybe it was normal for her to be gone but her wallet being there is odd, but maybe he didn't know that. I don't always put my purse in the same place.

I lived in Great Falls for 5 years so I know the area.

Something else to note...the Upper Missouri River is less than a quarter mile from Sherry's home. And it's about .4 miles to the bridge.

The person I doubt would dump a body in the Missouri River because There is a Dam there and she would be found pretty fast. Usually the water isn't very deep. I use to go fishing every night around dusk.
