The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and the Issaquah Police Department is asking for any information regarding two people who are believed to have been in the area of the Dena Mora rest area in late November. The rest area is located at mile marker 4 on the westbound side of Interstate 90.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Issaquah Police Department on Dec. 1 about a man and woman who were reported missing by family earlier that day. Deputies found their vehicle parked at the Dena Mora rest area later that night.

A five-day search was conducted . The search was called off by Mineral County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 7 due to weather conditions and a lack of indication that anyone was in the area.

The Mineral Sheriff's Office reports that it's not clear at this time if the individuals left the area on foot or if someone gave them a ride. The two have been identified as Suzanne “Annie” Michelle Labelle, 24 and Sherwin “Jay” Fernandez Lamando Jr., 25. Both are California residents.

Has anyone heard any updates?
There have been no updates since December of 2017. One thing I found odd in the reporting is the missing posters on Facebook have them going missing from Vista California, with the vehicle found in Montana. Are there any records through credit cards that they were in the vehicle on that journey?

Human remains found near I-90

...sbm

According to Mineral County Sheriff Mike Toth, a huckleberry picker found bones and a shoe near the Dena Mora rest area, a few hundred yards from the off-ramp on the Montana-Idaho border.

Toth said deputies from his department confirmed the remains were human. An investigator with the Montana Department of Criminal Investigation confirmed there were two sets of bones.

Toth took the remains to the state crime lab in Missoula for further investigation.

Toth believes the remains may be of a man and woman in their 20s who were reported missing from Issaquah, Washington, in 2017.

He said their vehicle was located on Dec. 2 at the Dena Mora rest stop, but a large search in both states turned up nothing.

“Deputies responded to check on possible human remains found near the Dena Mora rest area. We believe this could possible be connected to a missing person case from 2017. Two young adults went missing from the rest area where their vehicle was found. This is a heavily wooded area and makes search extremely difficult. But last night some people out picking huckleberries found some bones scattered up and above the rest area about 200-300 years. (yards, IMO) State DCI was called and they assisted in the recovery of what remains could be found. Family’s were notified today of what was found and that DNA test will be done at the Montana Crime Lab. This could take 2-5 months to get any results back. We will update when we learn more.” (BBM)
