Maybe one of our Lochmereians will know the answer to this: do reservations have to be made at these tennis courts that M. Hiller was referring to off of Lochmere Drive? Or are they just public courts, first come first serve? (pun intended)

Yes. Big time. But I don't know exactly what is off about it.

BTW, I was re-reading Brad's rebuttal affy and found a mistake he made in one of his dates! It's not a huge thing, but it is a typo. The part where he states that he said he hadn't been on his training bike since June 3, 2007 but then looked at his training log and saw he was on his bike in January 2007--that should say 2008 to make sense.

I do find it odd that he accuses LE of trying to coerce him into saying he used Nancy's phone and then turns around and says LE is doing a good job. Weird. Guess it will have to wait til trial cos there is no way to know what exactly is off with this. Hinky meter is not settled.

Iron Man

Congratulations to Mr. B! Last week, he competed in his first Iron Man triathlon, and finished in under 13 hours, which is an excellent time. Last night, Ms. N threw a party to celebrate his achievement, and to celebrate that she'll get a little bit more hub-time for a while. Except that he's already signed up to do two more of these crazy races in the next 12 months. And he has a full-time job and is getting his MBA at night school and has two small daughters. I thought I was tired...obviously I'm just not doing enough.

The party was lovely, with lots of cheeses and dips and crackers and chips and wine and turkey meatballs (Ms. N's signature appetizer) and wine and friends and more wine. And small children running around like maniacs.

I agree, momto3kids, very sad! :(

Yeah that's not really that long of a deposition...

7 hours didn't strike me as being on the 'short side' either though. Certainly would seem on the long side if he answered most/many questions with "on the basis of my 5th amendment rights...". Hmmm... maybe he didn't' plead the 5th at all...

[sarcasm]Gee... what's taking them so long to post the deposition transcripts on the web with all the other custody & murder-investigation stuff?...[/sarcasm] :D

Sleuthy, I can't remember if reservations are required at the tennis courts in Lochmere. It would be easy enough to call, assuming they have an office for that. It's been since the mid-1990s since we canceled our membership. The kids grew up.

Yes, Mom, I've read every nook and cranny of DD's blog, click on the people's responses, and followed everything like that. You find out so much that way.
Same with iMorial. Read the people's responses too. You never know what you'll come across. I think one of the "telling" responses that I mentioned before was deleted since I ran it across WS the other day, about the two in the group's having had affairs in the last year.

Another Websleuth find for me, just by browsing around, Googling: I was looking to see if someone I had known in childhood was listed on Websleuths as missing. She is!!

Lourdes Gruart. As a child, her family was our neighbor in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area. I babysat Lourdes and her sisters. Well, you can Google her name and will find a lengthy article about her disappearance from New York City in October 2000 entitled: "The Model Vanishes". She had become a fashion model. What a changed life she grew up to live, and probably is dead now. Unsolved. It's on Websleuths too. I still say, truth is stranger than fiction. Only wish the complete truth would come out in her case and in the Cooper, Young cases.

Yeah...I noticed that. My immediate thought was that after he said what he did about the cops he thought he'd better do a little sucking up!
I'd like to know what kind of a budget this guy has his wife on! I definitely got the feeling he had no use for Nancy. BC and him seem to be birds of a feather.jmo

Funny! I agree with the possible afterthought on his part, leading up to a cleansing "sucking up", ha ha.

After you posted this the other day, another poster said it was still there, and found it and copied it and pasted it in her post...

SG - I'm still studying on this Hiller affidavit. Something is just way off with this. You get that feeling ?
What I think is strange is MH's revised affidavit shows great effort to discount JA's statements concerning painting plans with NC... shining the light of possible guilt for NC's murder on her. Insinuating that JA fabicated the painting plans raises "reasonable doubt" about Brad's guilt. MH seemingly wants it to look as if NC never had plans to paint at Jessica's Sat. morning.

And he certainly did do some backwards pedaling when approached by the media concerning CPD tactics. He's quoted in the N&O this morning as saying he was glad CPD interrogated him so intensely and wishes they would do so with everyone to help solve NC's murder.

My question is what could possibly be in it for him to smear Jessica Adam in such a way? She is obviously the hero in this story (if you can call it such), and, to me, the most unlikely person to attack. I am also wondering if he even knows her personally. Jessica is not in the same neighborhood and was not at the BarBQue.

I'm not sure all the people who wrote affidavits on NC's behalf really are in the same clique. The common thread was friendship with Nancy but not necessarily with each other. His statements concerning Jessica's pressuring friends to write affis against Brad makes no sense IMHO.

But the biggy here is: WHY would MH attack Jessica?... unless he is trying to get the dogs off HIS scent!

Do you know JA?

Hiller was doing a fair amount of speculating in his rebuttal affy, which is not the point of having an affy in the first place. The info about being questioned by police about NC's cell phone and possible usage does not relate to the custody issue and it serves no other purpose than to try to make the cops look like they're bullies.

And, as someone upstream said, they would only ask about cell phone usage if there WAS usage on NC's phone, otherwise... obviously a stupid waste of their time. If the police are questioning you or want to question you, you don't HAVE TO talk to them. You are not required. You can get a lawyer or request one at ANY time if you feel the need. And, if you have nothing to hide, you hide nothing.

How about - he thinks she may have had something to do with NC's murder?

Jump, do YOU think JA is involved? And if yes, what evidence leads you to this belief?

Don't know. I'd certainly be surprised... but not shocked (little in this crazy case would shock me at this point). :)

Crazy...yes. But only, to me, in the way the civil custody case will preceed a possible criminal case and all the affidavits of the civil case made public. The crime itself doesn't seem so out of the ordinary. Especially in this state, I hate to say!
