Casey doesn't have to talk because Cindy is doing a fine job of speaking for her.

A child left in a car seat in a hot car would be considered 'accidental' and (usually) without malice. I believe that would get an involuntary manslaughter type charge (maybe gross negligence too). Depending on the situation I suppose they could go for a tougher charge. But proving premeditation would be a huge challenge.

I've been lurking for a while after being told that my posts aren't welcome here, and if this post gets me banned, so be it. How utterly refreshing to finally read something written with compassion and understanding of what a horrid thing the Anthony family, and most especially Cindy, are struggling to deal with. I agree completely, Cindy's inability to accept reality is sad and pitiful. The woman needs emotional support, not ridicule and scorn. She's lost her grandchild for gosh sakes, a child that she obviously loved and adored. She is soon going to have to accept that her daughter is a murderer, capable of killing her own child. Perhaps some here could simply accept those things without batting an eyelash, obviously Cindy can't. Someone posted earlier that Cindy "deserves" everything that happens to her. It makes me shudder to see such a dark side of humanity. Who deserves to lose their granddaughter?
Everyone is so concerned about whether Casey might commit suicide. Cindy is the one I worry about. Stephen Grant's father killed himself because he couldn't live with knowledge of what his son had done....and he didn't have half the nation gleefully spewing venom at him.
Yes Cindy is acting frantic and "weird" according to some people. I'd be suspicious of her if she was acting any other way. That poor poor woman.
Thank you, Nicki, for showing me that I am not alone in extending my sympathy to Cindy. You're a good person.
I know Cindy is a irate right now, but could you imagine being in a home where your grand daughter is missing, presumed dead, and the very person who could have done it is right in your face and will not talk to you?
In my mind, when they say she isn't talking to anyone, I see her as being the kind who sits there with evil eyes, rolling eyes everytime you walk by, and just says nothing.
If I were Cindy, I would have already lost it..
I really hope this isn't the case and she is actually speaking to them.
I agree, why give her a 48-hours heads up?
do you have a grandchild? How would you respond if your grandchild was missing and your daughter never waivered from "the nanny took her" story. Never waivered, and says I love you, I love her, if I knew where she was, this wouldn't be happening right now. Imagine, for a minute, this coming from your child's mouth.
I believe Cindy is delusional too, or (I hate to say because I have no proof), I am beginning to think Cindy helped cover this up. I have never seen a Mom acting like Cindy. She is part of the problem with Casey and has been enabling her for years.
And in reference to Casey spending so much time at the attorney. Why? She isn't talking so why does she go to his office for 7 hours with her book bag? Just weird to me. Even the lawyer on NG tonight said it was strange.
That's all well and good. But when I ask her "Sweetheart, when did this happen" and she tells me 30 days ago and I haven't called the cops yet, she's gonna need protection - from me!

Very true and I agree but one thing that is really burning me up is that there are dozens of missing children organizations in this country that are "starving" for funds. The padilla brothers ride into town and spend 100k under the ruse that there trying to find a missing child without even researching the case. If they did it would have been obvious to them that it was already to late for Caylee.
imo
poor Tony didn't get to say much - he looked great!

And perhaps this very family dynamic fed the dysfunction we are seeing now?
I have compassion as do many others here. But right and wrong is pretty clear cut. If this is how this family dealt with things....then I can surely see where the problems grew from.
Closing ranks and denying reality is an insult to that precious baby Caylee. It does their daughter Casey no possible good either...maybe a lesson learned 22 years too late, but they should make her take responsibilty for her actions.
