During a segment on the "Today" show
Monday, NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz shared that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained the significance of the January date and why authorities made the footage request to Nancy Guthrie's neighbors.

The sheriff said Google initially told investigators that a surveillance image of the suspect in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, a masked man who was seen in Guthrie's front entrance, was from Jan. 11. The date is 20 days before Guthrie was allegedly abducted from her home.

But Nanos said the tech giant later "retracted" its statement on the surveillance footage, adding that Google told police it could not "definitively peg the photo to that day." Per NBC News, Google and the FBI have not commented on the timeline of Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

Nancy Guthrie Likely Died in Mexico After Kidnapping, Says Veteran Pima County Cop

Rick Kastigar, the former boss of Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, has shared a grim theory on what he believes happened to the missing 84-year-old.

Speaking to NewsNation’s Brian Entin on the latest edition of Brian Entin Investigates, Kastigar said he thinks multiple people were involved in Nancy’s abduction and that it’s likely she was taken to Mexico in hopes of getting her the medication she needed to keep her alive.
