I agree. The story has changed so many times that it’s hard to know what’s accurate anymore. I read that the SIL dropped her off, but I haven’t seen anything confirming that with camera footage. Was there ever any verification? I don’t recall reading that it was confirmed she was physically brought home, and that seems like a pretty critical detail.
DOES IT MATTER WHO DROPPED HER OFF ANYMORE? There is a perp on video camera with times etc. She is missing.. Pacemaker stopped syncing. with apple watch because she is out of range...time to be forward looking..moo

If they had this info- they would get the reward of 50K, about the same as 1 Bitcoin, 68K today.
Good point. And how did TMZ become the broker of ransom - or extortion - demands.

AT THIS point this will be the norm...lots of people looking to make a quick buck.
Exactly. I think that's why the initial reward amount was so low. Not because the family was being "cheap" but because higher amounts tend to bring out anyone just trying to make a crude buck and who are unserious.

I'm probably just being thick, out of the loop, or both, but can someone explain the camera timeline?

01:47 MST - Doorbell camera disconnects
02:12 MST - Software detects person on camera

So, if the camera disconnected at 01:47, which camera detected a person at 02:12?

Do they mean a physical disconnection (removed from wall/door) or a WiFi disconnection? Nest cameras are battery-powered, so are they saying it was physically removed at 01:47, was being carried around or placed on the ground temporarily, and somehow picked up a stray person while still connected to WiFi?
If the camera disconnected at 01:47 then:

1) Lost WiFi
2) Camera destroyed
3) Camera removed from property/WiFi range
4) Battery removed

IMO

Can’t stop thinking about the crime. Adult kidnapping is very rare in the US. Was the perpetrator a fantasist influenced by video games or movies? Kidnapping for ransom is much commoner in Mexico— so much so that rich people have body guards. Did someone familiar with kidnapping as a crime see an opportunity in which a woman would be easy prey but possibly worth a lot? IF this is a planned kidnapping at all? — I haven’t read a plausible scenario yet, really. As if we all just accept the crime at face value. It’s really very bizarre. —

Right if they had anything though they would just go to LE to get the 50K reward nice/legal instead of extorting for 60+K

I never would’ve thought 11 days later we would still not have Nancy

Harvey Levin on Foxnews right now saying they got a note from a person claiming to have info on NG and asking for bitcoin to reveal it.
When? A new note since the deadline on Monday?

I fear this is going to become the new normal.

if anyone thinks companies are storing everything forever from our doorbell cameras, the easy way to shoot that down is to do a little math and see that it's probably not even possible. and even if it is, it would get really expensive, really quickly. and for what benefit to them? google doesn't care if there's an amazon package on your porch. and if they want to be nosy about when your neighbor walks by for social media reasons, they can get that a lot more cheaply from location data.

obviously companies DO care about browsing habits, location data, and stuff like that. there's a whole industry around collecting and buying and selling that kind of data. but that kind of data takes up much less memory and is a LOT cheaper to store than images and audio and especially video recording. if you're not paying a company to store stuff like that, they're deleting it as fast as they can.

I think they still had info because it was very recent, thankfully!

Yes, it matters. If she didn’t actually make it home, then her last verified location was her daughter’s house. That would significantly impact the timeline and could suggest the events started there, not at her home. Confirming that detail isn’t backward-looking, it’s critical to understanding the case.

Not wanting to get involved in person isn't worth federal charges for extortion and five other things the feds will tack on. IMO

Not if you’re afraid of retaliation for snitching.
Or at least more afraid of retaliation than the risk of being found guilty of extortion or other charges they could find. Makes this feel more ominous and complicated.

There's a 50k reward, right? Seems odd to make a deal for a bit more?
People don’t always get the reward money for one reason or another (the McDonald’s lady didn’t get it for Luigi). And I wonder if it’s taxable?

One can easily deduct she made it home. Her blood was on the porch.
