I agree that burglars and other criminals who invade homes often carry a kit; however, IMO in this case, the backpack looks evenly stuffed. With duct tape, zip ties, tarp or plastic sheathing, and presumably some tools (sledgehammer to hit floodlights, crowbar, maybe a screwdriver or two, a flashlight, and some small picks for getting through locks), I’d expect the outside of the backpack would look irregular from the shape of those various things stuffed inside. But it doesn’t.
We don't know if this guy was coming or going...it is possible that he was at the house earlier, committed the crime, paniced, left, and then returned to clean up the scene. If so, when we see him on video he could have already been back into the house through the back entrance and the contents of the backpack could possibly be bedclothing (sheets), towells, that could have his DNA if NG was surprised and attacked in bed. The backpack to me appears fully stuffed, but quite light, does not sag as if heavily loaded, and shows very little definition of shapes inside if they were rigid objects like tools. It doesn't move on his back as he moves around either.

Wow!!! So much to take in there!
What news station is she with?
🌟🌟Never mind. I just saw that she's a celebrated true crime reporter with a reputable AZ news channel: CBS 5 KTVK
3TV.

Weird. Have heard of burglaries gone wrong where the victim is killed at the home but not where the victim is taken from the home. That requires a lot of effort.
If that does turn out to be the case I wonder if they went in for burglary and noticed photos of SG perhaps in the home with NG and changed tact.

Remember the cam on the roof they got several days later? Was anything ever said about it?
So it wasn’t actually on the roof. It was high up on the wall of her house and looks like it’s wired to a solar panel on the roof. I have NO clue how LE missed that camera for the first 6 days of the investigation.

It looks similar to this Nest model

Can someone please kindly summarize any key info that’s in the video but not mentioned in the text of the tweet? I am somewhere with bad connectivity and can’t get the video to play.

Inside info (source) told them it was an intended burglary

They are testing DNA from the scene

Source said possibility Ms Guthrie is still alive

most important points: They believe it was a burglary gone wrong. DNA being tested from RR. widespread belief that NG could still be alive.

Investigators believe it was a burglary gone wrong. She mentioned testing RR evidence so implies that it is a hopeful lead. Investigators believe Nancy may be alive.

There is no proof that he didn't plan for and anticipate the camera. Only proof that he didn't anticipate it working or - perhaps more apt - still working.

Not all (heck not even most) seasoned, successful, and yes - even professional - criminals formally dress for the Home Invaders's Prom or go to yearly home invader trade shows in Vegas for the latest and greatest in kidnapper merch. Indeed, they are usually too busy invading homes. And if they've been successful with minimal change in their standard tools and typical garb, then the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' mindset probably applies.

That mindset may ultimately get him caught this time since an army of law enforcement, pretty much every major (and minor) media outlet, and a large swath of the general public are collectively looking for him, but it doesn't mean he is a beginner, stupid, naive, or amateur.

JMO.
The difference is the way he dressed and the moves he made did not make sense as I pointed out. It's not about criminal chic or style, I pointed out the impracticality and why someone with half a mind would not make those choices. Sometimes you get a try hard who goes all mall ninja or uses something too distinguishable like Kohberg with his Marine KA-BAR and leather sheath.

So what you are saying is that he's been lucky, and that's what I said before. But it is still amateurish and shows. Mouth light that transfers saliva, that dangling universal holster that would fumble out his semi if he ran or turned quickly, gloves he couldn't even fit in a trigger guard. These are not criminal "style points" like you focus on but practical lapses in applied thinking. Yeah I agree he might be a bumbling amateur that got away with past scores.. Many do. So it's not his first rodeo in that sense though he's an amateur w/ goofy choices. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Do you think that Nancy left her house alive? Or did something happen during the kidnapping/robbery and she had a medical episode and passed within minutes?
I believe she’s alive. I also believe after 2 weeks, she and the person(s) that have her are reaching a critical point. I believe they have underestimated her needs and I also believe the walls are closing in and it’s becoming harder to manage everything.

I am not aware of what would be called standard. I wasn’t presented with an option. It would be what the electrophysiologist at her hospital felt was best and the manufacturer they contract with. Two brands I’m aware of are Biotronik and Medtronic. There are several…but IMO they would all store data for reporting. Mine even allows then to adjust the rhythm range detection point to where it should intervene. Tickles the throat a bit when they do this from a laptop. 😝

People aren't given a choice of a particular pacemaker, but SG would have made sure that her mother's electrophysiologist was top-notch. An electrophysiologist uses the same brand for all of their patients and it's exactly as MsMatlock says - they use whatever brand the hospital contracts with. They usually have reps of the brand at the hospital so that when the pacemaker is put in, the reps help the patient connect the pacemaker with an app on their phone, their Apple watch or a computer. JMO

I was originally given the choice of my EP’s preferred pacemaker with leads or paying for the leadless one out of pocket (this was while they were still investigational). Just throwing it out there since I was given the option of an “upgrade” of sorts… at substantial cost. So it’s not always “you get what you get”.

IMO—a young reporter trying to get some media attention—
Just summary of what is going on—don’t think there is anything new and really the supposition that LE thinks this is a burglary gone wrong is just that speculation—not from official press release…the LEOs involved in this case are probably discussing all kinds of theories of the crime.

Tarp or body bag, rope, gag all “ soft” , plus “hard” tools.

Due to the blood trail outside, I think she left alive. There looked to be some initial spray, then drops, which makes me think she was injured (intentionally or not) as she was being taken out of the home.

How are they interfering with what is going on. There is nothing going on.
Exactly, this woman needs to just shut up and sit down.
