I can't find the exact source for the amateurish description of using a flashlight with a low, but not low enough, high, but not high enough amount of lumens... but the video link has a pretty good description of how computer technology can map facial features.. starts around 6:52. And the tucson.com article points out that even using a flashlight confuses our ability to determine a motive..
