lol. I think we’re all on the same page. Based on the new note and the immediate return to the scene, it stands to reason they are verifying something.
All this manpower suggests more than just verification of something in the note. Perhaps they now have potential location of a body... a kidnapper might stand to benefit not only from ransom money, but from a discovered and deceased NG...

I'm remembering in the Moscow, Idaho murders, the police chief saying things such as, "We really have no idea about that", etc. and it turned out they were moving in for an arrest.

Playing dumb to protect the investigation.

This is exactly what I sensed from all of the sheriff's appearances. I know a lot of people have been highly critical of the sheriff (e.g. emotional, inexperienced). Those things can be true, but my sense (as an investigator myself) is he has been feigning lack of knowledge from the start. There are all sorts of smoke and mirrors happening from LE right now.

Why would a kidnapper back peddle? Things are going the way they hoped? Or there is more than one kidnapper and they are not in agreement?
Emphasis mine.
Valid point !!
Hmm.
Am still surprised that Nancy's home was released to the family so soon, but again maybe it was deliberate ?
Which brings up other questions.

Maybe evidence came back and they needed to get back out there asap.

I think there’s just no way she’s nearby. They’ve been over that area numerous times, with multiple rounds of searches utilizing people, dogs, drones, helicopters, etc.

No, listen again at 2:00 min mark. Host was specifically asking about the doorbell cam and Sheriff Nanos talks about how they "sent in that device to do analysis" of it to the company.

That's an example of how the sheriff's choice of words have caused a lot of confusion. Another example was the 'I go with family' about who took NG home Saturday night.
I've now listened three times and read the transcript as well and still don't think they were on the same page. I can't get on board with them definitively talking about the doorbell camera when they started off talking about the doorbell camera and then switched to 'sensors', 'devices', 'cameras' etc.

I make my living as a (relatively) non-technical person working in technology and I listen to people talk across each other all day long and it's my job to make sure they are saying the same thing and on the same page. And for me that was not clear that they were here. If I was there I would have been asking clarifying questions.

Just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong because I would really love for them to have that doorbell camera!

I agree. The letter was received by KOLD at 11:00AM MST. Seems odd to just now be going to verify contents of the letter. They definitely caught a lead.

Personally I don’t think we will see billboards put up. I think the FBI and police know much more than they are saying.
Someone posted upthread today that they've already seen the billboards, IIRC near Phoenix.

I pray she is not

I am wondering if this new message is where to find her body, and that's why they want no traffic.
I wondered that too. Another thought I had is the AG's home is empty, they would know by now about the 2nd note. Makes me wonder if it was bad news. The kidnapper sent proof of death vs life because they didn't meet yesterdays deadline. This is awful!!!

Wondering how they will provide CURRENT proof of life with something in the house?

Good thing they keep releasing the crime scene instead of preserving it.
IKR ?
Do I detect a bit of sarcasm ? If so, I'm in agreement !

Unless, there's something large that we all aren't seeing yet ?
Where LE is playing chess with someone only used to checkers or tic-tac-toe ?
Like where you throw out the bait while fishing and very slowly reel it back in, watching for nibbles.

Or maybe they're catching on that this person likes media attention. And they're trying to stay one step ahead. It's been kind of hard when media has been reporting every movement of LE.

Media can be such a devil sometimes. There are so many ways that reporting can impede an investigation or help a criminal evade LE. As much as I love following along with the investigation, I first and foremost want this solved and NG recovered.

I've speculated before that the person(s) that did this is disappointed the body has not been found yet. May or may not point to motive.

Well they haven't overestimated their abilities (that we know of) yet. But, I would guess a high IQ individual with possible LE training/knowledge. Someone that knows about emails and Bitcoin, and how not to be traced. Someone with enough patience to plan ahead and wait this out for at least a week. An educated adult.
I wonder if someone very high IQ with exceptional tech skills would go the kidnapping route? This is a labor intensive crime. Abducting someone, keeping them captive, returning them. All while remaining invisible so the victim could not identify them. Perhaps killing them. Very risky way to make some money if they have the tech skills to steal money in other ways.

But yes someone smart, educated, good skills. But not top of the line. And perhaps young. If older, didn't think it all through.
