I'm not sure it puts it to rest at all. For all we know, this information was only relayed to LE by the sister's family. Until there is proof, it is hearsay; i.e., a named witness to that account, etc. A defense attorney would rip this statement apart in court unless the party is named and has signed an affidavit.

They probably are, but I haven't seen any confirmation from LE that they spoke to this caller to confirm the call.
Why would the cartels want anything to do with an old lady? Plus there's zero evidence cartels were involved.
I just find it so ironic with NG and SG favorite hometown restraunt being Mexican and them heavily promoting it, being loyal customers, for it to be cartel related, that would suck.

Of course they’re scared and want to keep private. This case is different than probably any I’ve ever followed. It has received national (international even) attention and involves a kidnapping for ransom. Why would anyone purposely publicly insert themselves into the case?
And too much scrutiny. I think they make more money running drugs and extorting other drug lords.
