For me, it is a data point that helps rule out the SIL.

The SIL would have known about the door camera and come prepared for it. It's obvious from the video that the actual perp noticed the camera as he approached the door and then had to freelance a response to it.

I'm not sure what to make of it at all. I think it is possible he had disabled the internet before approaching the door and then was surprised when he saw the Nest camera recording light come on (I have a Nest door bell cam and the light starts blinking or turns green or something when it notices motion)... this is the point where he tries to smash it with his fist and then goes to grab flowers. Doesn't seem like a professional. Doesn't seem like a handyman/someone who works on her house either-- why not just kill her and leave her if there was a dispute over money or something. Seems targeted for sure though.

So many questions! To me, this brings obsessed fan higher on the list of possibilities. NG was featured a lot on SG’s show. Good way to get SG’s attention.

But how did this person get inside the home? There was no sign of forced entry. And yet, did they seem surprised by the camera?

Those images are absolutely terrifying. I can’t imagine how Nancy’s children must be feeling having seen the disturbing footage. My heart goes out to them.

Sadly, this monster has seen a vulnerable, old woman living alone in an expensive home and viewed her as an easy target. So so sad. Still hoping for a miracle however unlikely it now seems.

Exactly. I'm not convinced he is a professional. May have been hired or may have planned this with another person or on their own. If he hasn't disguised his facial features, he may be recognized. His gun / holster is distinctive and may be recognizable to somebody. Same with the backpack.

His backpack was full so he had things in there that he planned to use or had in there in case he needed them. This wasn't a robbery. He didn't act as if he had anticipated a nest cam.

Which is especially dumb since a lot of people have security cams. I have a camera. My neighbor across the street has cameras that also cover my house and parts of the houses to either sides of mine and he’ll text me if he sees something odd. We have a robust neighborhood watch here, we all know each other and look out for each other.

You have to assume everyone has one until they prove they don’t. The relative of a celebrity certainly would.

Indeed it is.

He had it way low though and not tucked in. He seemed to have it concealed first then displayed it out in the open as he approached. Two things with this position, easy access quick draw, and intimidation/brandishing factor.

Still elements of things thrown together for me. Should have been all black, no reflective stripes on backpack, just a wonky rag tag look for a seasoned criminal. Very brazen as well in the approach. Would seem to know exactly what was behind the door (no threat of a dog or guy with a 12 gauge)

Agreed. Appears to me to be a person with some experience and forethought/planning and yet still amateurish in many ways (thankfully) at the same time. Sort of a cocky, wannabe personality type. MOO

Post are coming in fast, so I have no idea if anyone has discussed the firearm/holster combo. Looks odd to me. Appears to be the butt of a semiautomatic handgun, but in a holster one would more commonly associate with a revolver. Especially a single action revolver. Note how the holster is rounded at the end (muzzle) and is closed. Note the profile of the holster. The wide, rounded opening ( where the trigger guard of a revolver would be, and the longer shank for the barrell. An exception to this if for a semiautomatic like a ruger 22 auto. A holster for that might look similar. The placement of the firearm in the holster does not look correct for that type holster. I shoot alt of guns and that set up looks odd. I’m going to chat got that holster to see if I can find one like it

  • Full-length, closed muzzle
  • Light leather body
  • Dark edge binding

  • Low-ride / drop style rather than a high concealment rig

That combo absolutely exists — it’s uncommon, but it’s a known crossover style.

I agree about 'not a young person'. The way he walks off step when he turned to get the lantana seems older and stiff versus young and spry.

He looks stiff when he reaches down to get the flowers. He doesn't bend over from the waist. Instead, he bends his front leg and balances himself by putting his other leg behind him. As some have noted, that could be due to the gun at his crotch. (If I were a dude, I wouldn't holster a gun at my crotch. Just sayin'.)

But the way he bends down is also like someone with lower back pain.* Also, unless I'm mistaken, he appears to be trying to pad around quietly.

*ETA, people have also pointed out that the apparent stiffness could be due to the weight of the backpack. That's certainly possible, though its bulk doesn't necessarily indicate its weight or contents.
