AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

She shouldn't really have to "walk" a dog... with so much private property there, she probably just lets it out...
Thats what i do!!

Maybe that explains the delay in calling 911. If the dog was also missing, they may have assumed it had run off and their mother had gone in search of it?

Thank you @SammiSleuthing for the love and care that you put into your work, and the respect you show to your residents.

In my mom’s memory care, there is one aide like that. I adore her. She will call me when I’m in New York if any concerns arise about my mother.

It’s a difficult job that I could never do, but unfortunately the majority of the aides do the minimum, even though we were paying for the highest level of care, but I’ve seen too many times that residents are begging for help and the aides are on their phones ignoring them.
Sadly it extends to other industries also. A good friend who lost his wife (my bestie) in 2013, hired household help just once... He found her sitting in the bathtub (dry of course), chatting on her cellphone. It wasn't the only time! Now at 77 he just does the best he can cleaning his home without any help. It's not easy to find good, honest help!

Nothing has been said about her having a dog, the photo of her with the dog could very well have been family members dog. Personally I don't think she has one or the Sheriff would have said her dog was left behind or she and her dog are missing. All JMO
I am wondering if the dog isn't the thing they found that led them to suspect foul-play immediately. Remember they called in the homicide unit to process the house within hours. I don't know that she has a dog, but we don't know for sure.

The dog isn't missing- or the bulletin would be telling us to look for it.

The dog may be dead or injured, or it may have been locked in a closet, or running loose in the yard etc...

surprised by the kidnap for ransom dude, so close by. imo this case is really rare and odd...and you do get a feeling this is some kind of staged event by someone who knows her.

who kidnaps an old woman? very very rare in deed. but there have been murders staged to look like kidnappings. mOO

Per the article, "Savannah Guthrie’s sister, Annie Guthrie, was the last person to see their mother, Nancy Guthrie, before she went missing in Arizona, where she lives.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Us Weekly on Monday that Annie, who went to dinner with Nancy on Saturday night, didn’t notice any “red flags” about her mom’s behavior throughout the evening."

PS it is strange that this site posted that about the brother in law. Perhaps he got info that they are keeping from the public now until they make sure? Speculation for sure, but if he drops her off at 10 and she is taken/harmed at 2 am…just putting it all together.. And the ‘checking on her” is strange if he drops her off at 10…when would he need to check on her?
Did you read it and what do you think?

This showbiz411 is really an entertainment item, not really msm....
So I really think we have to look at all the words speculatively......
It could have just meant he "took her home and checked her into the house safely"
We really have no concrete data... we are just having to speculate meaning all over the place!

But so standard for a fast paced emotional story.

The showbiz link quote fully says:

Sources say the last person who saw Nancy alive on Saturday night was her other daughter’s husband, her son-in-law, who checked in on her. He is absolutely not a suspect.
How would anyone know? This was posted last night and we never heard from any other social media source about the SIL.
Could be the FBI doesn’t want him to know he's a suspect?

Why is this not reported elsewhere? We do know she had dinner with the daughter but never that her husband drove NG home..

Does anyone else think that its odd that law enforcement is not putting out warnings to the community?

Tuscon is filled with retirement communities and I do wonder on what basis the decision was made to not place a proactive warning.

Is the photo even dated? Is it possible the poodle has passed since the picture?
The sisters partner/husband is holding a small black poodle (puppy)in the recent Christmas photo

I think this suggests LE have a suspect in mind and/or an idea to motive.

I've seen a lot of speculation about why it took so long for the family to call LE, and I've been thinking it was possibly due to the same reason so many here have wondered if ransom could be a factor. They have a high-profile family member. Once they realized something was definitely wrong, they may very well have paused and wondered "what if" and called SG first. SG may have then consulted her security team and maybe even legal, before being like "no, we need to call the police". MOO

just getting to the driveway might have been too far for a sync, and we know she was bleeding (and therefore alive) at that point.

Has it been confirmed that the blood drip is from her?

What kidnap for ransom dude?
sorry don't have time to look back, but someone here did a RSO search for her area and found a dude that had planned a kidnap of a child for ransom living not that far away, hopefully they can repost it.

I put her address in the sex registry and searched from her house out 3-mile radius and there are 44 sex offenders. I looked at the ones closest to her house and they all have charges related to minors. Then there was one that stood out, if you put her address 5820 N Camino Escalante Tuscan, Az and filter within 3 mile radius. There is one to the far right of the circled area. He was charged with plotting to abduct a child for ransom.

In this article it says the man owned a security service at the time of his arrest. It may be absolutely nothing, but when looking at the charges of those on the registry near her, that jumped way out to me. He wanted to abduct the child for ransom.

Confusing to me.
HE is in Scottsdale. His company is/was in Colorado.

Are you finding that the child that was targetted was in that 3 mile radius??

I believe you initially posted the Showbiz source, right? Why are you believing one part of the paragraph but not the rest? I provided the full quote from the paragraph for context.
