AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

And this may be why other news outlets aren't publishing it - they need a source and if LE are standing by their 'no current suspects' then they would struggle to find a source, especially if Savannah and/or LE wish to control what is published and by who, or there is some other purpose behind it
I'm awaiting next Banfield report on this case. JMO.

The Today Show just reported that Savannah is remaining in Tucson with her family. Nancy's church is planning a vigil for her.

I was curious what the updated number were on abductions and murders committed by family members versus others:

Kidnappings:
50% by family members
25% by acquaintances
25% strangers

Murders:
15% by family members
30% acquaintances
30% friends
10% strangers
15% misc.

i think this is best for the situation.
no way for her to be okay with that kind of media on her and shift in time zones

Very nice clear chart. Appreciate this.

I know that Banfield keeps saying that her and Savannah are good friends, but I thought I read somewhere that they're REALLY good friends. Could this be another situation like Friedman where maybe she's being fed information to provide to the public?

I wonder that too.
I do think it’s weird no other news group is covering this angle.
Weird because news groups are always fighting over news bits and to be first with something and that’s not happening.
Weird because if LE wants to fool the real bad guys into thinking LE is not on to them, why are the other news groups not playing along?

I wonder if the a large percentage of kidnappings by family members are non-custodial parents taking their kids against court orders. idk

Wonder when video footage from cloud server will be available?.

Didn't I read somewhere where the video was being written overtop every few hours and so there might not be any video available?

I hope not!

I have DVR with 8 cameras and at 4K resolution, mine starts writing over the old ones after about 12 days. Mine is not connected to any cloud or network, jsut a stand alone DVR that I can watch from my phone app. If she had ring cameras, I think those store forever, correct?

That was my post which they responded to, but I wasn't sure what they meant.

I just referred to a post I thought I saw saying she had left AZ, but I might be mistaken. It might have been in an article. I was just asking them which part they were referring to, or my comment about it. I think they misunderstood me
Someone mentioned in this thread that Savannahs security team was at her sisters house when the FBI came to tow her car. I cannot even fathom what is going on in the poor womans head watching this all unfold this way.

Hi all new here! Here are my thoughts so far:

From a friend of someone who has met and interacted with NG, I've been told that Nancy had mobility issues but she was more than able to move around the house on her own.

I initially rejected the idea of it being someone in her family circle. If you are seeking inheritance or life insurance payout for an elderly relative with ongoing health issues. I'd imagine it's relatively easy to fake a natural death or just wait until she passes. There's not much incentive to stage an abduction and possibly murder them. Especially knowing with the family's name and resources that it would cause a thorough federal investigation.
But who knows- not all criminals are smart.

If the family intended to stage a kidnapping to demand money from SG due to personal grudges or wealth jealousy I would've hoped they would have slipped up by taking her pills from the house (we know the pills were left behind).

In terms of the blood evidence in front of house. I agree they look low viscosity meaning it dripped directly from the source of blood. The one concentrated area before the trail makes me think perhaps the abductor carrying NG, briefly paused to close the front door before heading towards a vehicle.

Something about this case really isnt adding up. I know LE keeps things close to their sleeve not to spook suspects but a little weird that nothing seems to be going right. Remember this isn't a murder investigation (yet) - this is an ABDUCTION well behind the 48-72 hour window. And unfortunately the outcome is looking more and more bleak for Nancy. I hope this is not the case and is returned safely.

Just AI chatgpt which is pretty good at summarizing data into easy clearly understandable form.. but probably only 90% accurate to the T

I'm generally curious about what's the trigger, Savannah's money or her mother's.
or both? Following the money always tells alot.

Welcome to WS. Sorry a tragedy close to home brought you here, but welcome to the discussion.

Splitting hairs? Banfield emphasized that a LE source told her that SIL "MAY BE" a prime suspect. She first said "is" a prime suspect but then seemed to correct herself saying "may be".

Unconfirmed information that the sister's boyfriend is a Mexican with debts and addictions.

Pretty sure he is Italian. Edited to add, not that I think it's relevant. Edited to add: maybe you were joking, I can't tell sorry if so.
