The Guthrie sibling video was unsettling. Was surprised that the ransom wasn't mentioned until the end. Just a feeling. JMO.

Could LE have been at AG's house today to film the video of the 3 Guthrie siblings?
Can't say but going by publicly available pics of interiors, I do think that's where the video was filmed.

The additional FBI resources being allocated to the case will likely be able to make quicker headway on the ransom demands angle.

I wonder if the family wrote their own material or the FBI scripted it.

JMO.

In the past, helping victim's families create public statements appealing to their loved one's kidnappers/murderers/etc has been something the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit has done (aka profilers).

They were humanizing her first.

I really couldn't understand Annie's message for some reason.
I heard it clearly. Maybe it was the instagram stream?

  • #3,266
She was softer spoken and further back from the camera. Savannah is trained in speaking to a camera and projecting her voice. JMO
Yes, very, I didn't hear anything she said and I'm not hard of hearing, but it just sounded muffled. Understand a video and I heard their brother clearly. I'm glad they have him.

They both sounded sincere to me. This is such a bizarre situation overall. It is hard to gage normalcy.
Even though I thought the video was slightly weird, I think it could also be that we “know” Savannah and her personality since she’s on the news and is well known so we can tell she’s being sincere. We do not know Annie and her normal personality or how she acts so it’s harder to gauge her statements.

I’m trying to decide if the video was weird or if this situation is just so insane that it is so foreign to all of us and shocking
My vote is the latter. This situation is just so insane it's hard to wrap your head around it and not think everything about this is weird. It just is. To the Nth degree.

What? This is the first I've heard of that?
Edit, do you have a link to this info? TIA
i'd be very surprised if that info is factual. It has been stressed how regular her attendance at church is.

This case is a bit bizarre. I would expect to hear about ransoms in drug related, mafia, other countries ( or a hollywood script)i know really weird to ask, but wonder if any relative has any connection to those things… just my curiosity

So, if you are the FBI and asking the family to make this video, is there any significance in who speaks?
Maybe the family had a choice on who spoke, maybe the one most normally in front of tv had to speak, maybe one w/ known bitcoin had to speak, or maybe it didn't matter at all.
LOL I love your choices. This video was 90% eulogy. That bothered me. Now is the family's chance to scream that their mom needs their heart med or pacemaker is hasn't been monitored and needs to be by this Friday or XYZ...

No urgency. Just a eulogy. I think the sister that lived closer would have taken the lead in this kidnapper video; but no. Think she was too frazzled; and maybe for good reason. The body language between those three was strained for sure.

Has there been any situation similar to this where LE had people film a public address to kidnappers? This all seems so weird to me. Feels more like something you would see in a movie rather than in real life. What is the rate of true kidnappers who actually comply when they say they will release someone if they get money, if the note is legit? I would imagine pretty low. Does LE actually know what they are doing here?

But perhaps they text during service, etc. and on Sunday they couldn't reach her.

It's been reported from that start that church friends alerted the family, why is that now in doubt? What did I miss?

Just telling what the article said. Services at 2 different times live-streamed....https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15528621/nancy-guthrie-missing-savannah-tip-off.html

That's probably why the Internet Crimes Against Children are helping. They are tech savy too.

jmo
I wonder if ICAC was involved specifically to ensure that a traceable line of communication would be available after the family's statement was posted.

If LE has verified the credibility of the ransom demands or if they haven't been able to conclusively determine they are fraudulent, I imagine they would want to a) have the means to trace any communications to the family from the kidnapper already in place and b) ensure that any communications are recorded/otherwise saved for possible future prosecution(s).

MOO.

CNN: Profiler "talking statistically. Male, 30s-40s, criminal record. Doesn't want to say more because of the risk of being wrong.

But this is likely contingent upon the ransom notes even being made by the person responsible.

You won't get in trouble. You can still post Ashleigh Banfield but just not that video where she makes the claim about the "prime suspect".
Thanks Tricia but that’s why I was worried about this one as she repeats what her source told her in it right after Brian Entin talks about federal agents at AGs home today. I won’t get my feelings hurt if you feel it necessary to delete the link :)

Annie’s statement is weird. Savannahs is from the heart. Imo
It's very unfair to compare how different people present and express themselves. I saw them all as sincere and heartfelt, even the brother who barely said a sentence. Savannah is a trained lawyer and broadcaster with years and years of experience, she's used to being in front of a camera, speaking. JMO

That was probably it. Why do some thing Annie's message was odd I wonder. MEANWHILE, she is aware most likely that her husband herself are put under suspicion if had read any of the guessing out there. IMO
