Because it is a "Live" Video we have no way of figuring out where the :604 you are seeing is located. On mine it shows a minus sign with different times

I think 6:04 refers to what I’ve circled, maybe?

I tried to do a little research and it appears that most often the pacemaker is synced to an app on the smart phone.
I believe that they can interrogate it remotely

Has there been any situation similar to this where LE had people film a public address to kidnappers? This all seems so weird to me. Feels more like something you would see in a movie rather than in real life. What is the rate of true kidnappers who actually comply when they say they will release someone if they get money, if the note is legit? I would imagine pretty low. Does LE actually know what they are doing here?
Maybe the 3 siblings were going to do it anyway, with or without the support of LE. So, LE helped.

IIRC, Thursday was the deadline to pay the Ransom, though also IIRC, the ransomers said they would not harm Nancy until Monday, giving more time to pay if they missed Thursday.
For real? I'm no expert but that doesn't sound like pro kidnapper protocol at all. It sounds half-baked and flaky.

I can't even imagine tomorrow's press conference! Although we know LE is being tight lipped for good reason.

It's very unfair to compare how different people present and express themselves. I saw them all as sincere and heartfelt, even the brother who barely said a sentence. Savannah is a trained lawyer and broadcaster with years and years of experience, she's used to being in front of a camera, speaking. JMO
I would agree. Savannah's part sounded like someone who is used to cameras and being poised and projecting her voice. Annie's was subdued and sounded like someone who was not as accustomed to cameras, but who does poetry readings; that came out in her part. She's also had almost 24 hours of her husband, and maybe her as well, being publicly suspected of potentially harming her mother. Regardless of whether it's true or not, that would take a lot out of you emotionally.

Both Annie and their brother seemed somewhat uncomfortable with the spotlight and the cameras. Everyone processes things differently, and we don't know how things are behind the scenes.

It's also occurred to me that Savannah's siblings are probably both somewhat accustomed to getting regular attention, but mainly because of who they're related to, not because of who they are. That can't feel good; if that were my life, I would have complicated feelings towards publicity and cameras, too.

Transcript of Guthrie family video statement

Savannah:
On behalf of our family, we want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy. We feel them, and we continue to believe that she feels them too.

Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She is funny, spunky, and clever. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you'll see.

Annie:
The light is missing from our lives. Nancy is our mother. We are her children. She is our beacon. She holds fast to joy in all of life's circumstances. She chooses joy day after day, despite having already passed through great trials of pain and grief. We are always going to be merely human—just normal human people who need our mom.

Mama ... Mama ... if you're listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.

Savannah:
Our mom is our heart, and our home. She is 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive; she needs it not to suffer.

We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.

Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment, and we pray without ceasing, and we rejoice in advance for the day that we hold you in our arms again.

We love you, Mom.
We love you Mom, stay strong.
We love you Mom.

I think they have experts who tell then what to say in those ransom videos.
That’s what felt weird. I have seen family appeals for a missing loved one, where it turns out the perpetrator was right up there and the others in the videos knew it. They commented later on how hard it was to stand there next to them. Savannah used the words to humanize her mother. In the ransom note or communication, were there images or recordings of their mother? Were they real? I’d like to better understand what the script was intended for.

LOL I love your choices. This video was 90% eulogy. That bothered me. Now is the family's chance to scream that their mom needs their heart med or pacemaker is hasn't been monitored and needs to be by this Friday or XYZ...

No urgency. Just a eulogy. I think the sister that lived closer would have taken the lead in this kidnapper video; but no. Think she was too frazzled; and maybe for good reason. The body language between those three was strained for sure.
Well, yes & agreed -- if they truly believe Nancy is alive.
I think your observations were stated respectfully, although some may disagree.
Scares me to think they already know ... something.
Imo.

I picture it like in the movies, where a photo is taken of the Loved One holding a newspaper with the current date displayed. Surely there must be other ways, but at the moment I can't think of anything.
With AI it would be hard to believe anything someone presented other than a phone call where they can ask her things to verify it’s really her.

I’m trying to decide if the video was weird or if this situation is just so insane that it is so foreign to all of us and shocking
You make a valid point. Each of us here has followed true crime for a long time. Yet, everything in this case is something that none of us has witnessed before. It's difficult to figure it out because it just doesn't make sense.

Like nothing we've ever experienced before. More like Netflix: 84 year old mom kidnapped & held for ransom, celebrity daughter, today's bitcoin edge thrown in....

John Miller CNN: Taking these ransom letters seriously. They want to build empathy between captors and their mom. Want to make it a two way conversation, and not between news outlets.

Need to know "are you real?" "Are you who you say you are?"

"Need to take this one way conversation and turn it into a two-way conversation for this to move forward."

Would like to actually speak to her on the phone. Going to be a challenge because it's traceable.

Can you give controlled questions that only she could know "who was your dog in the 4th grade?" "What did you eat at your sister's house the night you were taken?"

Brian Stelter: Savannah and her siblings spent much of the afternoon with the FBI in preparation for this video.

Seems bogus to me. A kidnapper who will give extra time and wait up to a week to b nice I guess

Thanks for explaining that.
The sad case of Laura Wallen was turned out to be what it appeared.
Would like to think this is different, but still feels resigned or like some of them know more ?
Imo.

Speaking directly to the abductor, and asking for proof of life.

Also explains the tripod thing we heard earlier.

I guess that's why the brother came from Vermont today or was it last night. They all needed to do this video together to appeal to a kidnapper if there is one. And maybe LE don't agree that the ransom messages are real, but the family insists they do not want to ignore the ransom messages, they want to reach out in case they are genuine.
Also, Savannah read the message, I assume that the FBI helped her to write it in the sense of emphasizing certain things that would help her mother in relation to the kidnapper(s) based on experience of situations like this (hostage negotiations, etc.)

And, as you mentioned, they needed the tripod to film the videotape. Amazing and heartbreaking development.

Are you sure? She looks the same to me from looking at her younger pics.

I'm sure. This Nancy you posted is in Nashville and references a husband and son. Our Nancy's husband died in the 1980s. And she's lived in Tucson since the 70s.
