Aren't all the kids grown up? I suspect it's because they (abducter) know NG, her house, and a frail older person is easier to control.
per the christmas photo SG children are still young..early teens maybe? Unless that photo is really old

That's Amazing that she lived there since her early 30s. I guess SG grew up in that community.
They bought that home when it was cheaper to live in AZ and likely not as built up out there. Now those properties go for the millions.

If NG had a heart condition the lack of daily medication could be catastrophic depending on the severity of the condition. If it was diabetes, perhaps less so, except for Type 1, where you need daily insulin shots to stay alive.

DJT made what he perceives as a political good move in the midst of chaos in Washington. Nothing to do with "liking her".
None of us can divine the reasons why POTUS has devoted extra federal resources (I suspect there's more than one), but I'm sure we can ALL come together in agreeing that it's a huge plus, and whatever the reason may be for his actions, the effect this will have on the investigation is a positive one.

It's okay to say he's done a good thing here, even if you don't agree with or like the man.

Forgive me if this was posted, but a couple of minutes in, he mentions that they reestablished the crime scene. This is interesting, and I don’t recall seeing this happen in previous cases. Did they really miss evidence the first time? Or maybe this is regarding new tips that came in?
either new tips or something from the ransom demands required they go and look for the items referred to in the demands sent out via news orgs.

Say the demand said you'll know I am telling the truth about having NG because I moved this from this location to that location while in the house, or I broke this seemingly inconsequential thing while there. So now LE have to go back to the scene they already released because they have new info to pursue or substantiate.

The biggest thing was the whole "snatched from her bed" thing that the media ran wild with. He later walked that back, saying that he didn't mean that literally (he even referenced the mess that caused prior to a particular presser).

He was also late in shooting down the rumors regarding Savanah's sister and brother in law, allowing them to take hold for many hours before responding.

He's gotten better as time has gone on, but it was a rocky start.
To be fair.....I don't think he's gotten better but that could be my bias coloring me since I've sat through his stuff before on different issues locally.

in looking at SG and her life she is very well known in Tucson and visits as often as she can.

I have an idea for how LE could get proof of life. They make a copy/clone of the pacemaker app that's on NG's phone and email it to the perps (using the email address from the ransom note). The perp installs it (on a burner phone?) and allows it to sync with NGs pacemaker. Not only does that show she's nearby, it will collect data (heart rate?) proving she's alive (which would be transmitted to her Dr normally). The only problem is that it could be used as a tracker (especially if FBI added a tracker to the app) and perp might not want to risk it. But they could drive to a temporary location to do the sync, then quickly get out of there and ditch the device with the app on it. Maybe someone who knows tech better than me could judge if this could work.

lol. In this case, “gotten better,” means not sticking his foot in his mouth as much.

I have my suspicions of why but they are neither here nor there. It IS nice that it was done at least. That's not something I would have expected especially the way he treated her as moderator of the debates in the past.

But SG lives in NYC, not some remote, rural place. Much harder to pull off a kidnapping of teens+ for many reasons.

I was watching it with someone else, and I was describing what they were doing as the video was playing. I actually said “wait for it,” before they got to the direct message to the abductors.

This was a prototype of how I would do it.

You play to their emotions first, because if you do it backwards it is much less effective. This was for the abductor, not for us.

Right, you said something which made me realize something I've been feeling muddy about:

Whether the note is real or not, the abductor is definitely real!

They might even think that implying that the note is real will encourage the abductor to make contact, if only to say "I didn't write that note!"

Messed up psychology of someone who does a crazy crime but also wants to get caught.

Yeah, it works on many different levels. Personally, I don’t believe the person who did this would care about the emotional element, but it could cause stress seeing all this coverage, which skyrocketed (amazing that’s even possible), following that video.

You’re turning up the heat

Not disagreeing, but I'm skeptical that law enforcement would put the family through a production like that without some kind of viability as to its legitimacy. Would be a cruel thing to do to them, IMO.

"Hey you know, we don't really have anything at all, but just in case do y'all want to make a video for us on the outside shot someone wants something for her?"

JMO.
It's also possible that the family were discouraged from doing the video and that the FBI made it clear to them that they didn't believe that the ransom communications had legitimacy. But then, if Savannah Guthrie looked at the FBI agent in the eye and asked if they could 100% guarantee that the ransom notes were not legitimate, then we know that no LE could say that for sure. And so the family would have insisted then that they had to do it, for Nancy's sake. How could they live with themselves if they didn't take it seriously and it really was legitimate? At that point, the FBI could only help them make the most out of the video with targeted messages inserted into the video.

An elderly person living alone in a relatively isolated, and dark location is an easy target.

according to wikipedia, she had the children in 2014 and 2016 so they are 11 and 9 (looks like their birthdays are later in the year)

agree AB report did not help them.
I knows these reporters are trying to get the best scoop, but I believe the naming of a potential suspect should be left to law enforcement.
