It's only big if they found something and there was contamination, and I reference this yesterday: I've followed cases with much bigger mistakes and it had zero effect. Like Families unknowingly living in bloody crime scenes, and a house being released with forensic evidence and the family having to be removed to reprocessing.

That search was seemingly contained to the outside and garage, and I don't think family had been in that house or anything since then (media would have seen that for sure).

Love John Miller. I still think it was a huge mistake. You had reporters walking up onto the porch where the blood was. A defense attorney will absolutely pounce on that.

My opinion: It sounds like there are 2+ cameras we are dealing with here: the Ring doorbell camera, which was disconnected around 1:45 am, and at least one other camera inside the house that detected movement around 2:15 am. None of the footage from either of the cameras is available for viewing because it was set to delete every 3 hours.

To me, that indicates that the perp knew there was a Ring doorbell and took action to remove it, but was NOT aware of the inside camera(s) and just got lucky that the footage deleted itself so quickly.

Well, up until this week, the odds of her being kidnapped were about zero.

Perhaps she felt abundantly safe in her home and used her cameras as I do -- to check in real time who is ringing the doorbell.

History is often the biggest predictor -- if she never had occasion to feel fearful, she may have felt no need to have greater security.

The initial reporting made it sound like it was an hour, but the timeline verified today indicates that it was only about 5 minutes, which makes sense to me. My dad is 88 and lives alone, so a lot of this hits pretty close, but if I saw blood outside of his house, I'd panic but still go inside to check on him, and if I didn't immediately find him inside his home, injured, I'd call 911.

It does hit close to home when you have an elderly parent(s) or had the experiences.

a) NG is not some senior who lacks the capacity to make her own decisions
b) NG lives in a million dollar home in a nice area so seems to have the resources to subscribe if she wanted to
c) I may have missed it as I am at work right now, but did the authorities confirm there was no subscription? TIA

You can also remotely open the garage from a phone. Maybe she had opened it from phone as approaching the house so it would be ready and lights on when she got there, especially if using an Uber. That would explain a two minute gap, maybe opening it one minute before she got there, walking in, and then closing it right after.

Releasing the crime scene so quickly was a huge mistake. The sheriff even said as much and when asked about contamination said "that will be for the courts to decide." That could be big down the line.

The DA's office is probably out at Home Depot even as we speak buying rolls of duct tape.

Sure, but that blood has already been processed. Now it would be different if they went back and reprocessed it, but that's not what happened.

I criticized this myself yesterday, and I stand by that. But I don't believe it is going to change anything, based on past cases with incredibly egregious mistakes much worse than this.

We also don't pay for a subscription. This case is going to be a big boon for Nest's and Ring's subscription business I would imagine.

Yes, most "experts" I have heard discuss this case said it's extremely rare in the United States, but common in countries like Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil, etc. I agree with your thought it was somebody known to Nancy OR it was a non-citizen from one of those countries, IMO. Praying for Nancy Guthrie.

So whenever there is gun related violence outside of the US, we should assume it is some undocumented American committing the crime. Good to know.

I actually was thinking about this Thursday deadline as to the reason the family wanted to make a plea just in case the ransom note was valid. I would do the same even if I were being told that it was more than likely a fake.
