AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

If no blood in the house and only on the front porch, the perp could have been someone who, in this order 1) disabled the ring cameras 2) knocked on the door to get her to come to the door 3) ambushed her at the door, a small struggle ensues, and puts her into a car
In this scenario, I’m wondering who she would open the door for?
Random example: “this is your über driver. I have something you dropped in my car.” (of course she shouldn’t answer for him). I only use this example because the über driver would have been able to see cameras and just how DARK it is surrounding her street and neighborhood, when picking her up.

If SG didn’t make Nancy a target, certainly living in such an unlit area with poor video surveillance of the streets etc. made her a vulnerable target.

My speculation

Perp/s park vehicle out of camera range
Disable cameras
Enter home, accosted NG, force her to the door, injured.
Unless she was carried, the almost would have had to assist her to the door.
Wanted at the door where she continued to bleed
Car is retrieved, driven right to the door (no cameras now)

JMO
if N was left at the door whilst the car was retrieved, wouldn't the blood pool? Also the risk of N raising alarm or someone discovering her injured? IMO she was carried out the door.

Interesting...they won't confirm who drove her home or who was the last to see her alive. Just "family member."
IMO he did this because of all the speculation and bad comments toward T.

I'm just thinking about this timeline:

9:48 pm - Family drops Nancy off at home & garage door opens
9:50 pm - Garage door closes

It would be helpful to know if she routinely entered/exited her house through the garage vs. the front door when she was being picked up/dropped off.

It would be helpful to know if she kept a garage door opener with her in her purse.

Jennifer Dulos was attacked in her garage after coming home from dropping her kids after school.
Fotis Dulos snuck into the garage while the door was still open , unbeknownst to her.
Could have a key pad on the outside. I believe Dulos saw the kids open the door with the keypad and memorized it. This is giving me way too many Jennifer vibes.

Two ransom deadlines. Days apart. Ransom note indicates knowledge of Nancy and her home. Details no one else would know.

IMO the perp thinks they are smarter than everyone else, and the ransom letter writer is the perp, and they are trying to make it look like a kidnapping for ransom, when most probably it was SA, and the kidnapping ruse is a cover-up, because the perp felt remorse after his crime, and can't get caught because it will cause him further shame and embarrassment. Kind of a "Hey look over there, not here" type scenario.
If it was an SA, there should be alot of DNA.

The sheriff was offered help from the FBI and other agencies. He didn’t hand it off. This happens in almost every difficult crime.
So he did technically hand it off to them and let them take over LOL.

not necessarily. if she opened the door as the car was pulling up. then it takes time for a mobility impaired person to get out of the car... then slowly walk to the door. then if she used a wall remote to close it vs one in her hand? Or perhaps she was walked to the door, so then A or T had to actually exit the garage before she could hit the wall remote? lots of scenarios that a feasible.
Maybe got something out of her car before going inside?

Ransoms sound fake. Of course. Sounds like multiple unconnected actors.
FBI said the ransom note included information about the Apple watch and flood lights at the house. When a reporter stated that this was out there in the news and so the person(s) who wrote the ransom note(s) could have got that information from the news, the FBI speaker nodded his head in agreement. But didn't comment on it. There were other things in the ransom note, likely, that included other details, but these are the two examples that the FBI gave at the presser.

Sheriff says Nancy Guthrie’s family has been very cooperative and the sheriff wants that relationship to continue as the investigation moves forward, and “sometimes people can be mean” and “potentially ruin that for us.”

Is he referring to the SIL?

did the ransom letter say anything about the clothing she was wearing? Or was that about wearing an Apple Watch? I thought I heard that ? Not sure if that was true or not.

The TMZ ransom letter.....is that the fake one an imposter was arrested for or another
The FBI spokesperson said the imposter would be in court later today, he believed, so we should hear more about this arrest later in the news today.

In regards to the note having two timeline, could one be for injuring her or punishing her and the second be for killing her or something along those lines? Just trying to guess why there could be multiple deadlines. MOO and sorry if someone said this already and it was missed.
Why not until Monday? It would increase their chances of being caught and that much more time to keep Nancy hidden, and alive.Makes no sense…

I wish someone would ask if there has any response since the family spoke last night.
The FBI spokesperson did state that there has been no response yet since the family video was made public last night.

People need to get rid of their keyless entry boxes,

i said this yesterday, but i can't wrap my mind around this amount of resource being needed if the crime was committed by someone with an interpersonal relationship to nancy. i don't know what i think happened, but like... a plea video for proof of life most likely directed by the FBI just to smoke out someone within the nancy's circle? that seems like a huge waste of time when they could just be interrogating those close to the crime instead? IMO.

i feel so heartbroken thinking of the despair of her family as this continues on.

I am curious if she willingly left the house. If, by some odd chance, this is a ransom situation, they could've told her that they had SG and would harm her if NG didn't comply.
My own opinion and thoughts

Police are not required to immediately name a suspect, even if they have one, as they must balance public information rights with privacy, the integrity of an investigation, and the presumption of innocence. Generally, names are withheld until formal charges are filed or in specific cases involving public safety.
This is an interesting point. Are "suspect" and "person of interest" terms they use when communicating with the public and not necessarily internally? If so, they may well have a direction they're leaning in but aren't ready to share that info/use that language with the public.

About the cameras.... if the doorbell camera was offline or disabled, it seems impossible for it to later transmit a movement notification unless it was back online temporarily. It's possible the notification was from a different camera, but any camera that was able to send a notification would have to be online and would send video to the cloud. I can't make sense of this discrepancy about the movement notification AFTER the camera was offline/disabled and the lack of any video recovery.

We have multiple cameras at our house from different off-brand companies. All of them use SD cards for recording because I refuse to pay for a subscription. The cameras still record when they are offline (as long as they have power), you just don't get any notifications and can't see the video until it is back online. If someone physically removed (or smashed) a camera, access to any video would be gone permanently (unless the SD card was found/recovered).

At any rate, if the camera was not disabled until 1:47 am, I assume that there would be video from all day Saturday, including any visitors as well as the family drop-off around 9:48 pm (if it was detected). If the drop-off was exclusively at the garage area perhaps it would not have been picked up by the doorbell camera but maybe by another camera (unless they were already disabled).

I feel that all the camera disabling makes it almost certain that the perp was someone close to NG because they knew how the cameras were set up, both the physical locations and the recording settings, etc. It just seems impossible that someone did all that without leaving a single second of video recordings on any camera.
