AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I believe this was calculated based on the camera timeline alone and here is why:

Assuming the front door was not replaced before media arrived- it seems like it takes a good amount of effort to get through two doors if you are just an opportunistic criminal searching for an easy target. Additionally nothing was reported stolen. So Nancy was clearly the target whether that be for SA or ransom or for some other sick twisted reason.

From Sherrif's Timeline:
1:47 AM Doorbell camera disconnects
2:12 AM Camera Software detects person/movement but no video

It seems though the perp decided first to remove the doorbell camera which is an odd choice considering you can't avoid the camera if you're walking up the walkway. And then they walked around the back or side as another camera detects motion 20 minutes later. This seems like a lot of effort for an opportunistic criminal. Which points to it being a more confident criminal or someone with the specific mission to kidnap or harm Nancy :(

My speculation

Perp/s park vehicle out of camera range
Disable cameras
Enter home, accosted NG, force her to the door, injured.
Unless she was carried, the almost would have had to assist her to the door.
Wanted at the door where she continued to bleed
Car is retrieved, driven right to the door (no cameras now)

JMO
They spent at least 41 mins inside the home. What were they doing the rest of the time? I'm afraid this was a robbery gone wrong and not a kidnapping.

The "forced entry" question. Do I remember correctly that Nanos wouldn't answer that, or that he said no forced entry ?
Would not confirm or deny

OK.... so IF this is completely random.... what IF when they got in the house they saw pics of SG and realized they had a family member/mom?

in reality... i don't believe this... BUT when I read this post it popped in my head!
The only thing about that, is that maybe it’s me but I don’t know that Savannah is completely recognizable to just anybody… I think she’s recognizable to a certain population but it’s not like seeing Bob Barker or Betty White. But at this point, no option has been ruled out!

I wonder why he wouldn't confirm. Is it an important bit of info that they want to keep quiet? Seems to be a simple question.
It is an imortant piece, but if for example it wasnt forced, it points in a certain direction and they may not want that person to feel they are a suspect?

This is an interesting point. Are "suspect" and "person of interest" terms they use when communicating with the public and not necessarily internally? If so, they may well have a direction they're leaning in but aren't ready to share that info/use that language with the public.
The sherriff did say that there was no 'prime suspect' and no 'person of interest' but that everyone connected with N in anyway was a suspect. He could be telling fibs though.🤷‍♀️

Why not until Monday? It would increase their chances of being caught and that much more time to keep Nancy hidden, and alive.Makes no sense…
Would it be because the Olympics are starting this weekend and it is Super Bowl Sunday? More publicity? I personally and sadly don’t think she is still alive, but maybe perp wants publicity and attention?

Her family would likely have a key and not need to force entry....obviously. JMO.

The note that went to TMZ or the local station? Or was there a third note? If it was fake, are they thinking the other note is not fake? I thought they were the same note? Confused about the ransom situation.
Okay … FBI confirmed the KOLD news station note and the TMZ note were identical, and they are taking those seriously.

The individual arrested had sent a third, unrelated note which they determined was sent by someone who did not have Nancy (looking to financially capitalize on the situation).

if N was left at the door whilst the car was retrieved, wouldn't the blood pool? Also the risk of N raising alarm or someone discovering her injured? IMO she was carried out the door.

Didn't Brian Entin say that the blood trail STOPPED at the front door and did not continue on further toward the actual driveway??

The video he took seemed to confirm this.

If true, I wonder 2 things:
1) Was she struck at the front door and taken INSIDE the house from there? If so, that to me suggests someone she knew at the door waking her up, identifying themselves, her opening the door and then her being struck. There are some dried flowers at the door so maybe she brushed up against a wreath... which looks like it was removed. But then again, it looks like the blood dripped there for a few seconds in one place.

2) Did she get carried by more than one person to a car?

The clues we know about just add more and more questions.

I can understand no cloud, but someone other than Nancy should have gotten notifications as well. She is an 84 year old woman with mobility issues, a pacemaker, is in pain every day, and requires daily medication. I’m guessing no central station burglar alarm, no life alert device, and we know no subscription service for the cameras. it appears that Nancy really was self sufficient and it seems that the household help was truly to take care of the house-not Nancy herself.

I'm convicned that whoever did this is someone who knew the layout of her house, knew she had cameras etc. From what we know so far it really is giving a premeditated act.

SHORT VERSION:
*Family members can be discussed as suspects because the sheriff has not cleared anyone.
*Nancy's very political posts could be a reason for her kidnapping. Any discussions about her postings must be discussed in connection with the kidnapping
*NO POLITICS

*Use initials when discussing the family.

I can’t tell you exactly how to post, but I can ask that you use common sense.
Because the sheriff has not cleared anyone—including family members—discussions about family members are allowed. That’s not my personal opinion; that is the current status of the investigation.
NO POLITICS.
While Nancy’s very vocal political posts may be relevant to why she was taken, that does not open the door to political debate in this thread.
Please remember: your words have power.
What you say here stays on the internet forever. The people being discussed—or their loved ones—may read these posts someday. Keep that in mind before you hit “post.”

This is a stupid thought on my part... but think it I did. :)

The Super Bowl is this Sunday. Perhaps they want the weekend for the game? Yeah, I know, then why did they pick last Sunday to abduct her? Told you it was stupid, but it did come to mind. Big games are HUGE for a lot of people. Everything stops so they can focus on the big game.

I'll go put my dunce cap on now and sit in the corner.

I think he meant that more in a general sense, As in there is no video so it could be anything. I think If you actually look at the timeline its much more likely that it was someone that was involved with her disappearance when you look at how closely in time that her pacemaker disconnects from her phone. JMO
Agree. The camera detects a person at 2:12 a.m. and NG's pacemaker disconnects from her phone at 2:28 p.m. So in this scenario, the suspect would have been in the house for approximately 16 minutes. That sounds about right.

But at 1:47 a.m. the doorbell camera was disconnected. So it sounds like the suspect was on the grounds of the property for about 15 minutes before making entry. Was the suspect getting some things ready in their vehicle during that time or looking for another point of entry, but disconnected the front door camera as that would be the suspect's planned exit near to where the getaway car was parked?

The Sheriff did say that NG had multiple security cameras on her house/the property. But it sounds like none of the security cameras' videos were saved based on the kind of service she had or didn't have.

I believe it was stated they were involved because they have useful resources (the dogs maybe?) and not because they necessarily think she was taken to Mexico.
(working on getting sources for this, hold please)

I’m in CA, and Police often look at San Yisidro ( border crossing) to see if the criminal went to Mexico, often catch prep in Rosarito, MX( or other locations nearby). Mexican border police are fast! They also check, Mexicali, Andrade other border CA/ MX crossings. They see the car they are looking for, everything is recorded, very clear images.

In this case, police likely checked the Nogales border crossing( closest one), for sure. Going to Mexico for cover is often done by criminals, but Mexican police are very good at finding perps, sending back to US, if this is the case here.

Once they find an image of the car that drove Nancy away, they can start to trace her movements, right in AZ, and at the border. Maybe more than one car used, perps try to foil police tracking the prep. I’m sure local police and border patrol are on it.

Yes, I know what you are getting at as to that person after thinking it over.

I wonder how much similarity there is in all the ransom notes/emails as far as the watch, the floodlight, the ransom amounts, and the dates, etc.? Obviously the one ransom note seems to have been given more credence for some reason(s).

I also feel that the watch was maybe discussed prior to the ransom demand being sent (although no one really knows when that happened), so not sure how meaningful it is.

Catching up, so I haven't read everything. Does this mean she went in through the garage door?
  • 9:48pm - NG was dropped off at home (time determined based on the garage door opening, notes that this is consistent with what the family told LE)
If so, that explains why they went back to check the garage.

About the cameras.... if the doorbell camera was offline or disabled, it seems impossible for it to later transmit a movement notification unless it was back online temporarily. It's possible the notification was from a different camera, but any camera that was able to send a notification would have to be online and would send video to the cloud. I can't make sense of this discrepancy about the movement notification AFTER the camera was offline/disabled and the lack of any video recovery.

We have multiple cameras at our house from different off-brand companies. All of them use SD cards for recording because I refuse to pay for a subscription. The cameras still record when they are offline (as long as they have power), you just don't get any notifications and can't see the video until it is back online. If someone physically removed (or smashed) a camera, access to any video would be gone permanently (unless the SD card was found/recovered).

At any rate, if the camera was not disabled until 1:47 am, I assume that there would be video from all day Saturday, including any visitors as well as the family drop-off around 9:48 pm (if it was detected). If the drop-off was exclusively at the garage area perhaps it would not have been picked up by the doorbell camera but maybe by another camera (unless they were already disabled).

I feel that all the camera disabling makes it almost certain that the perp was someone close to NG because they knew how the cameras were set up, both the physical locations and the recording settings, etc. It just seems impossible that someone did all that without leaving a single second of video recordings on any camera.
I get stuck here too. I understand the camera that’s offline is of no use. But, are all cameras now offline because 1 is? The camera that alerted at 2:whatever …or any other camera in the house…why weren’t they functional?
