Remaining open to all plausible scenarios, even the least likely/most far-fetched, what are all the potential motives behind NG's disappearance?

Brainstorming:
  • SA
  • Financial
  • Kidnapping for Ransom
  • Legal Jeopardy/Fear of Discovery
  • Political
  • Personal Grudge
  • Robbery
What's missing from this list?
What if anything on this list can be ruled out at this point?

*ETA: I think robbery can be ruled out, because if you're going to commit a robbery, why steal the person and leave all the possessions behind, but what do others think? Take it off, yea or nay?

I'll bet LE doesn't tell us when and if there is any communication from the disgusting cowardly POSs that took an 84 year old grandma from her home for their own nefarious purpose.
I'm just sick over this for the family. Seeing NG's 3 kids sitting together in that video yesterday looking so worn and weary, well, there just isn't anything sadder I don't think.

Had anyone seen anything online any speculation or any mention of an Uber driver before this press conference?

I'm curious as to why, given how vague they are being about so many specifics, LE have chosen to release that information.

If I was that Uber driver tonight I would not be feeling very happy about it!
Just guessing that they probabaly didn’t want to bring up the uber driver until they had a chance to investigate him/her.

Why bother with inside cameras, if she had no alarms on doors , windows etc?
People often have inside cameras for elderly that live alone just to check on them and make sure they are ok. I know several elderly people who had a sudden stroke living at home alone and were lying on the floor. Minutes are critical for help at that point. My friend's father ended up passing away from that stroke. Another friend's mother had a major stroke at home but luckily her husband was also at home at the time and saved her life.

AB. That is it. And everyone here STILL keeps talking about him, even though LE has said they have no suspects.
Today Nonas said everybody is a suspect to the question about the SIL. That's a wide range which would include SG herself (ludicrous). He could simply have have answered family is not suspected.

I agree with you, in-the-details, the person you are responding to, could be more clear and helpful, by citing a source.

SG's wiki entry says that she is known for her balanced reporting. (People here, can read it if they wish.)

So, I don't believe she's considered to be one party or the other. Or, ... even paints herself as anything other than a multi-media journalist who is committed to a balanced view. One can not assume anything about her personal politics.

MOO.
I mean, I can hazzard a guess by watching her body language and facial features. This would be my own opinion, of course.

Because they were having a party at their house? Busy setting up? Party already started and it felt rude to leave guests? They already had a glass of wine at their party? It was much easier to get her a ride from an Uber? SO many reasons and all of them would feel normal, to me.
Add to that that NG didn't want to trouble them twice in one night. A 10 min drive one way winds up being 40 mins of total driving time that night.

i thought having her take Uber on her own for this short distance seemed odd but maybe just worked with schedules and they do it often. I am a senior woman much younger than NG and don't want to take one alone. Just not comfortable.
Same here.

I just keep coming back to thinking this will be a crime by someone the victim knew. Probably pretty straightforward and simple in the end. I think LE knows a lot more than they are letting on, they just don’t have enough probable cause for an arrest and naming a poi won’t do anything to help further their investigation. I think the next update will likely be an arrest has been made. Which may take some time. moo

this more often than not is how it goes, i think you're probably right.
i think we're seeing a lot of intentional red herrings

So was it an Uber who took her home, or AG/SIL?
I feel like i missed a chunk of info
Uber picked her up, son-in-law brought her home

Agreed. Since Ben’s murder, I will no longer take Uber alone, either.

It does seem a bit strange to me especially since they were so close (10 minutes away).

One would think either AG or TC could have quickly gone to get her (just as they allegedly drove her home) whilst the other member of the couple could have stayed at their home waiting for any other guests.

Moreover, Nancy still has her car. Though her mobility is limited, if she does still drive, even occasionally, why did Nancy not just drive herself to AG’s home rather than taking this Uber (being that she was traveling to a familiar location that is a very short distance from her home)?

Is it possible she just chooses not to drive at night? (She left in Uber at 5:32pm per the press conference & sunset in Tucson was not until 5:57pm on 01/31/2026.)

Is there a possibility that she consumes medication in the pm hours that would potentially impair her ability to safely drive?

Did we ever find out/has it been determined whether anyone else besides AG and TC was at “game night?”

(Sorry if this was previously stated somewhere. This thread has moved so quickly, it is difficult to keep up/difficult to read every post.)

**All of the above are my opinions only/my ideas & potential theories. Edited to add time of sunset and Uber departure time.**

By now I’m fairly confident that FBI and local LE have had time to review business cameras, traffic cameras and or license plate readers etc. My conclusion is either those have so far proved to be fruitless. Or they have identified the vehicles that came and went in the general vicinity during the specific time window and they don’t need the public’s help identifying a specific one. moo

Can’t watch right now. But my question is, is this THE ransom sender, or a second one?
It is my understanding that there is only one ransom letter being considered as potentially relevant because the letter mentioned an item at the NG house that had been moved and one other item (that I have forgotten). But both of those references appear to be credible.

This letter is the same one that was sent to TMZ and local media companies and is the letter the 3 siblings’ video was responding to.

The second ransom letter was deemed a complete hoax and its sender has been identified.

Why not a robbery if you were an outsider? Seems an outsider would be interested in $ and valuables. It's not the Capone days. It would take a lot of intellectual planning to get away with a ransom. Why take an 84 yr old woman? Makes little sense. Where would someone take her? Did they not know her relationship to SG, or understand the disappearance would be nationwide?

What does an obduction rather than a theft or scam tell us about who (characteristics) this might be?

Obviously this approach could be higher risk (?) for higher reward.

What does the request for a Bitcoin payment (if true) tell us about the captor?

This is not random and the abductor knew her and/or her house.

These are some thoughts running through my brain.

Have you ever tried to make an independent older person do something they didn’t want to do? Maybe she was busy with her own life.
This is exactly how Samantha describes her mom in the video. She characterized her as a strong, clever, and spunky. The drops of blood probably occurred when she resisted and fought back when they pulled her out of her house at the front door. She did not want to go!
