AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Her disappearance could have begun as an accident or spontaneous event that occurred, and then the "ransom note" business was concocted as a cover story while the true events were covered up.
Maybe, because the timing of a demand seems odd. IMO, it would make sense for any demand, if it's legit, to be early, before law enforcement is even aware. Why wait until you are under a microscope? I don't get it. Forgive me if explained already. I'm trying to catch up.

They’d just download any devices directly. No reason to do anything like that.

A possibility from what we saw yesterday (agent carrying a cellebrite unit into AC and TC’s hime), is that their phones were downloaded for a second time (especially TC’s).

This would tell them about his activity from say day one, and after those ransom demands.
Oh...I wasn't aware that they had already downloaded (possibly) their phones. Activity including computer searches or communications with other individuals?

SHE DOESN'T OWN THE DOG.
That’s the best news of the day. Otherwise we’d have 1,000 people in here asking what the dog saw and why the dog was unharmed and why did it not bark

I would like to know what format the ransomer used to designate the times. Local, international.

Proves nothing but I'm still curious.

I can understand no cloud, but someone other than Nancy should have gotten notifications as well. She is an 84 year old woman with mobility issues, a pacemaker, is in pain every day, and requires daily medication. I’m guessing no central station burglar alarm, no life alert device, and we know no subscription service for the cameras. it appears that Nancy really was self sufficient and it seems that the household help was truly to take care of the house-not Nancy herself.

If there were other internet-based cameras, people who could sign into her home internet...

Worth noting -- it took LE about 30 seconds to find the idiot capitalizing on this family's grief. As far as we know, they haven't yet identified the sender of the other one, which suggests to me that that person took some decent counter measures... which makes me think it has a fair chance of being legit....

Anyone have a theory as to why/how the floodlight was broken? I would imagine if the perp wanted to conceal the porch in darkness they would just unscrew the lightbulb, not break it?
I'm not quite tall enough to unscrew my outdoor lights without a stepstool, but I could whack one with something and break it.

The fact that the blood was confirmed to be the victim’s is so worrying. So we know she was injured in some way. She could also bleed easily from medication etc being that she is 84. I feel so bad for her family not knowing.

They say they have 'no suspects' at this time.

But didnt they also say that they have not cleared everyone also?

I'd think they could have cleared SIL already. He should have solid alibi and proof he was not at her home at 2 am. Right?
That’s what’s bothering me.

Logically, he’s suspect number one in investigator’s minds, and my mind too.

You’re going to have his phone data, surveillance footage from his neighborhood, almost certainly dna in his car, and perhaps other places.

Even if they don’t have anything rock solid (allowing for an arrest), it should be solid enough that you don’t have to allow the family to go through the devastation of filming that plea to the kidnappers.

One would think anyway.

That’s why I’m exploring other possibilities (random offender), but I’ve still got that on my mind because it makes the most sense.

Maybe there’s lab results and other things still outstanding.

But those things are certainly being expedited!

Points and counterpoints all over the place.

The question will still be asked, sorry to say. IMO

I still haven't found the pic of the floodlight, but maybe they chucked the doorbell camera at it?

Could the ransom deadline today be for a smaller amount, and if they wait until the follow-up deadline, they multiply their demands? The two deadlines is odd.

If this is the case, the perp must be using the largest excavator in the world to dig this hole they will not get out of.
I've seen at least one high profile case with a very questionable "ransom note" that seems to have somehow filled in that hole and allowed responsible parties to avoid getting stuck in it.
