My guess would be that Apple Watch was on her night stand next to the bed. Crazy question but where does every one keep their watch?
Exactly there - nightstand

Another thing that seems a little weird to me is that there have been 5 days during which the information circulating was that the family had waited an hour to call the police.

Where did that piece of information come from?
Exactly! I saw Megyn Kelly speculate that, because the family was getting so much grief online for waiting an hour to call 911, they changed their story. With no working cameras, LE cannot easily determine when the family arrived.

So this could have been at the back door?
Near the home doesn’t sound like
Back door to me. I immediately thought more like a trail cam

Does anyone think that these criminals are looking more sophisticated than the typical bumbling fools? This makes me feel like perhaps it is not family after all?

Questions sorry there's too much to read.
They say they let her in via the garage.
Does she have a car? If so was it parked there,?
My own feeling is this is a home invasion gone wrong, there was a person seen in neighbors back yard?. Person broke in and thought no one was home maybe gone away , especially if he saw the car.
Nancy comes home and he hides for a bit trying to get out, and goes to bed and he accidentally wakes her up, they fight dhd gets hurt, or killed and he now has to dispose of her body.
This is why cameras seem to dlbd disabled after Nancy got home not before and why he pacemaker stopped.
Now he has death of a famous person mum on his hands so to buy time makes up a kidnap ransom.
So did she have a car, where was if parked if so?
Was Nancy evening clothes she wore accounted for, if not did she actually go to bed,? How do they know she was in bed?
Is area remote, of so what tyres marks are there? How did the person get there?
Why did the camera doorbell not pick anything up, before it was disconnected, I'm.assumjng person broke in through the back...of maybe just to blow my theory out of the water, the had a leg yo the back door and was already waiting.

Curious if anybody thinks this is typical of the frequent Mexican kidnappings for ransom since only sixty miles from the border?

Since 2021. I was surprised by that too.
They recently have been more about photos of women in skimpy bikinis ,than the news source they used to be. Surprised if that was a Fox thing bc they are the more conservative outlet.

There's a grass area, sth like a patio(?) at the back of the house, and a small pool. I'd say it was somewhere there. Is it ok to post a google maps link to the house, of post a screenshot of it?

Sure they can. Cell phone data. And if that's not enough, car metrics and GPS.

This would be incredibly foolish- the time can be verified by their cell phones. The call from the church member, the call to 911, the location of the phones, perhaps even that they opened the garage door.

Wow. If a family member was a musician in a band .....which had members with checkered, criminal pasts.

..and, then, s/he/they chose to continue that life, and commit this crime, it would be very disappointing, horrific and sad.

If this is true, then I'll bet LE will be impounding many more vehicles connected to these band members.

I doubt the family is directly involved or knew. I certainly hope not.

It will be so important to check the other ring cameras on the block that Nancy lived, and compare the cars/vans seen that night to vehicles owned by friends/colleagues/mates of the family members.

This is so sad. I am praying for her safe return.

Unfortunately and sadly, I do not think NG is alive. I think she was killed at her home early Sunday morning and taken out for unknown reasons. I am firmly on the fence about the perp and the ransom. I wish I could come up with a good working theory, but I'm mostly baffled.

''What we know

  • Six days into the search for the mother of "TODAY" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, no suspects or persons of interest have been identified, authorities said.
  • Officials yesterday offered a timeline of the hours after Nancy Guthrie, 84, was dropped off by family at her home outside Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday night and when she was reported missing about noon Sunday.
  • Reports indicate that ransom notes referencing Guthrie have been sent to at least three news outlets. NBC News has not seen copies of the notes, and no law enforcement agency has substantiated news reports about them.
  • One of the reported ransom notes had a deadline of 5 p.m. yesterday. In a video statement posted near the deadline, Camron Guthrie asked to speak to “whoever is out there holding our mother,” saying the family wants to talk and is “waiting for contact.”

If we assume that the ransom note is real and was sent by a person or persons who kidnapped NG, I can easily imagine a line of thinking that results in this lack of communication.

Their priority obviously is not getting caught. They asked to be paid in Bitcoin (which, as has been discussed is not actually untraceable, but many people think it is, and in any case it's less easily traceable than some other payment methods. And it's mainstream enough that the kidnapper could reasonably assume that the family could understand what's being demanded and make payment that way). They apparently sent the letter in a way that's not quickly traced. And they seem to have gone out of their way to write the letter such that they expected to get paid without any further back-and-forth. They made it clear that this was their plan all along.

Every message they send exponentially increases the chances that they will be caught. They will slip up in something they write, or mess up however they are anonymizing their sending, or whatever. Each new communication is a risk, and they surely know this. Opening up two-way communication is an even bigger risk. Setting up some private way for the family or LE to contact them is almost sure to get them caught, so they're not going to do that. And sending any pictures or videos also opens up huge risk of some inadvertent detail causing them to get caught.

If avoiding capture is even more important than getting paid, I can easily see them refusing to communicate further. And I can also see them assuming that getting NG back is more important to the family than money is, which would suggest that once they get desperate, they will pay even without proof of life.

I just don't think it's that hard to imagine a scenario where a kidnapper convinces themselves that they can and will get paid without sending any proof of life, especially if they are going to great lengths to stay untraceable.
I do not understand how they communicated thus far and remained anonymous

I think, if Nancy is still alive, making a video( recorded), sending it for proof of life could be traced to the sender, so unlikely. Even more so, I highly doubt they would do a Live chat with Nancy, so questions could be asked, to be sure it’s her, she is alive. Too much of a risk, I would think.

I pray for Nancy, but don’t see how she can be returned, slim hope. Sadly, I don’t see a viable way forward for Nancy, which is so sad. With FBI, so much heat, I suspect the perps still want the money, but they have No respect for human life, will not return Nancy. Just thugs that want money, and they likely won’t even get it!

As far as leaving the country, the abductors can collect $( if they are paid by the Family), from anywhere, its deposited online. They may have crossed the border right after crime, I doubt they would go now,( car might have been be identified). If they are already in MX, they may head as far South as possible, huge country.

Mexican police are very good at finding criminal Americans near the border, sending them back to USA for justice.
Just a few thoughts.
MOO
if they are Americans.
guess they could drop a drone with a recording- still not real time- delayed
anything they leave suggests where they are or were shortly before
