How extensive were the field searches before everyone went down the abduction route? Wouldn’t it be something if she was somewhere near her house but due to the sheriff claiming “taken from her bed” everyone was looking in the wrong direction?
They used a helicopter for a couple days to canvas the area pretty extensively.

They also brought in k9 on two seperate occasions once early on and also yesterday.

They also have done some grid searches per reporters on the ground.

I highly doubt she’s still in the neighborhood area. moo

But the stems aren't torn! They are broken! And leaves aren't strewn about. They appear to be broken, which is the difference.

I have this stuff growing in my front yard too and it's woody. However, it is a ground cover.

I think someone broke or cut the lantana somehow. It doesn't appear to be grabbed.
What if they used it to block the camera and then tossed it when she came to the door after removing the camera from its slot? My camera circle is small but I have a ring

Given the anxiety, the ransom note deadlines, & the statements by families, I would not be surprised if this is another attention seeker. Time will tell.

If they're in any way serious they would need to show proof of life to get a ransom for an ill 84 year old 6 days after her abduction. The whole thing is weird though.

But like we've seen in past cases (the comically horrible 90s Sun Gym Gang and Daniel Lugo) sometimes truth is stranger than fiction (which was the premise of the movie Pain & Gain based on that case).

Yesterday during the press conference, the FBI said they’d be putting up digital billboards for Nancy Guthrie. Can confirm while driving back to Phoenix from Tucson, my photographer & I saw a couple of them once we got into the PHX area right off the I-10 freeway.

Media ransom note said will be no further communication with the perp. If the family does not pay because of the no communication rule (so no proof of life from perp) and NG is not found or is found deceased, they may never know if she died initially/before the deadline (meaning family could not control her death) or if she died because they did not pay. JMO
If her deceased body is found, coroner should be able to say how long she's been dead.

It wouldn't make any sense because crypto does not take days to transfer. It's not like a bank transfer.

I think the dual deadlines is another one of those things where we don't have enough information to have a good quality discussion about it. We haven't seen the actual language of the ransom letter. Some of the descriptions have said things like, if you don't do it by Thursday, X happens and if you don't do it by Monday, even worse thing Y happens. But without actually seeing what was said, we're flying blind. I am pretty confident, though, that it wouldn't be "initiate the transfer on Thursday and we must receive it by Monday" because it's completely nonsensical for Bitcoin. And it's also not "do it by Thursday or do it by Monday" as some people have characterized. It seems pretty clear from the vague details we have that the two deadlines do have at least some differences between them. Not disagreeing that it's a weird way to do it, but maybe not entirely as weird as some people are assuming in this information vacuum.
Again, I know nothing about crypto, so you're probably correct, but this is where my understanding came from: This earlier comment talks about the deadline as Thursday payment, won't kill her until Monday.

Party details would not be verifiable via a third party unless others in attendance; sounds like there were none—we’d know). The church call would show verification via a third party, which would be a significant detail as is the Uber verification. They included SIGNIFICANT details, of which this one was purposefully omitted.

Edit: we also have no knowledge of a party. Only dinner.
I’m beginning to think the timing of the church call being omitted from the timeline may speak of it being possibly illegitimate? Maybe someone did call and fictitiously stated they were from NG’s church, but that was just to get the ball rolling?

New note info will be provided on CNN shortly

Wow, I really didn’t think there would be any further communication.

The original note said there would be no further communication. So that surprises me, if it’s from the same sender.

And if it were a hoax I would have expected no further communication bc of the arrest they have already made. I figured it would deter any further bogus communication.

This one was probably sent after the son's solo appeal. This may explain the Sheriff's confidence that she might still be alive.

I certainly hope that's the case. I am personally invested in this as if I knew her personally.

Honestly, seems like this may be a true abduction for ransom. The multiple ransom notes are just too weird.

I don't think it's a family member, how would they be sending multiple ransom demands discreetly at this point? They couldn't.

It sounds bizarre and outlandish but stranger things have happened. Nancy is celebrity-adjacent and just appeared on Savannah's Hometown segment a few months ago. Who knows what crazy person could've decided to target her.

Well if TMZ gets sent a copy of this second letter too, we should know its contents by tonight.

From public records that house that her sister lives in is only 2 bedrooms. I would think that they need more space.
It's actually a 3bed / 2 bath and 2,421 sq ft... large enough but I'm guessing they want to get out from being locked down in that house where everyone knows their location and to a secluded location.

If this is in fact the same author of the first letter this changes everything we know about the case.
Did SG pay the first ransom. Generally, if they didn't follow through with the first letter, a second letter would be sent right away if this was truly a ransom case. (Like if it said, "pay by 9 pm on Tuesday") Well that day came and went and now we're hearing several days later. It looks like they had plenty of time to "think" of something to write.

On CNN now.

Also, do they really have the mindset to be thinking about suing someone right now? That would certainly be the last thing on my mind.
It depends. The family is living in a nightmare right now. Some people freeze, some fawn, some fight. And if they don’t have a perp to fight, why not go after some journo slandering them (in their view)? I don’t see anything wrong with possible litigation in their position.
