There is ZERO chance those videos were just recovered today. They have been sitting on those for days.
What is your source for this accusation?

do you think we'll get more info tonight or is it too late now?

Holding my breath. Another Olympics, long ago. Jim McKay coming on the air to deliver news on the Munich hostages. That’s what this feels like. Hoping for a different outcome here.

If NG had been found, this would have been huge news. Doesn't seem so. Guesses are this is the ransom guy. Just my thoughts.

I think it’s been pretty well established, without much reason for doubt, that they only just were able to recover and be in receipt of the Nest photos and videos today.
Yes! It took time to get to this point. There's zero doubt the FBI was doing everything in their power to get those images and get them as quickly as possible.

This was almost certainly priority number uno

I told my husband they should have done this to begin with. It's amazing how fast someone can be recognized...
They just received the footage this morning.

Ex-Agents commentating have said it's likely they've had them for a couple of days but, again, like everything we read/hear daily... it's (almost) all speculation

AI can’t deblur or enhance. It makes an entirely new image. I’m so sick of AI I wish everyone would use their actual intelligence.
I think the problem is that the AI is still new enough that there hasn’t been enough education available to explain how crappy it really can be. There are ways to use it effectively, it has a place, but it isn’t magical and the stuff available to the public at least, has alot of problems and errors. I think it’s helpful to think of publicly available AI ( such as ChatGPT) as a very rapid data compiler and sorter. Without data, AI doesn’t even exist. So if I’m using it for a project, I may use it to brainstorm a list of ideas. But I still need to go and research all of those ideas, because some of what AI is going to give me is going to incorrect. It’s also not magical, it doesn’t have the power (yet at least) to tell use what a face under a mask is going to look like. I really wish there was much more accessible education available to the public. I’m not a techie, and my explanation above is very simplistic. But we really need to lift the magical veil off of AI. End of rant.

I'm watching the NBC Olympics coverage, and they just broke in with a breaking news update about the person detained. One thing I found interesting- one reporter asked the other a question, and he replied back with (my paraphrasing follows) saying that they don't want to share any details that might compromise the investigation. The implication, IMO, was that there might be more known that what is being publicly shared.

It's also clear, to me, they all like and respect SG as a colleague. It must be a heavy week for her colleagues, layered on top of an incredibly busy week for NBC with the Super Bowl and Olympics. IMO.
I wish they would give that much respect to ALL the victims and their family. JMO

Do we know if the photos released today were related to the camera detecting motion by no footage due to no subscription? Maybe it just took them a few days to recover the images?

Waiting for Patel.

No idea if it’s connected, but that LifeNet helicopter seems to have taken off from Holy Cross Hospital and is now returning north. Where it originally landed is not clear.

is it true that the medi flight heli took off from Rio Rico AZ and flew to a hospital? i'm not sure if someone can confirm, otherwise I'll delete

edit: TBH I'm not sure how to delete my own post and can't find instructions...

To begin with....

Took a good while with deep searching by tech company to retrieve the images

What "Residual Data" and "Backend Systems" Mean

  • Residual Data: This is data that remains on a storage medium after it has been "deleted." In many surveillance systems, when a file is deleted, the system simply marks the space as available for new data, but the original bits remain until they are physically overwritten.
  • Backend Systems: These are the underlying servers, databases, or cloud architectures that support an application. While a user might not see a video in their app (the "frontend"), the data may still exist on the service provider's servers or within internal logs.
No telling how many hours it took to find the images, kudos to Google and the FBI.

There might be a delay if they do find NG so they can alert the family.

I wonder if LE has had the video for a day or so and may have had one or more people they were interested in and wanted to have them under surveillance so they could see how they reacted to the release of the video/images.
