I wish I better understood flight transponders. It’s strange to me on the initial flight south it disappeared near Rio Rico and then re-appeared at the hospital miles south of there.
I had the same question! tried to figure it out but everything is moving so fast so I stopped trying. I wonder if they can hide certain parts of the flight path for security/privacy reasons upon request

EDIT: Thank you "Chainspell", who said: "Flightradar puts in that line for an estimated flightpath when a flight loses signal (for whatever reason, such as being out of range)."

Helicopters can often drop due to lack of coverage/getting hidden by mountains due to their low altitude. Of course, transponders can also be turned off for whatever reason. :)

So do you think it's more likely the person of interest, injured while being sought and detained?

No, they were detained earlier today - not half an hour ago.

Wonder if he got the idea to flee to Mexico when the media gave him an hours-long head start 🙄
That was LE just fleshing him out.

Be careful before making claims, people…
especially potentially-defamatory ones.

Helicopter just touched down Banner Universaty medical center. Heli, went down to Rio Rico from Tucson , and back up to Tucson , Banner. Don't know if relevant,
Of course the flight has disappeared from my FlightRadar24 app, but the helicopter took off from Tucson around 3:50 MST, if that has any relevance. It must have been on the ground at Holy Cross for quite some time.

Not sure…if not Nancy I would think totally unrelated to her case. The person in question here was detained during a traffic stop which, to me, indicates Nancy likely wouldnt have been with him, so I don’t think the location of this medical emergency is related to the location of the traffic stop.

All this being said, I really, truly do hope with all my heart that it IS Nancy in that helicopter going to the hospital.

ETA: so much in this case hasn’t made sense to me - this would be a hugely pleasant surprise if it defies my logic and is Nancy
Can you post source for it being a traffic stop?

RIO RICO, Arizona — The man detained of questioning in the abduction of Nancy Guthrie was headed toward the US-Mexico border when he was stopped by Pima County sheriff's deputies with the help of the FBI, law enforcement sources said.

Cops stopped the man and detained him for questioning, sources said.

He was being pursued when cops stopped his vehicles in this tiny border community, which is 60 miles south of Nancy Guthrie's home and just nine miles from the border.

Sources did not know if he was trying to flee to Mexico.

Emphasis mine.
Hmmm.......
Thankful he was apprehended.

Whaaaaaa??!!!! Link?? Pls
Why would they not medivac someone who's injured? This is literally what they do. If someone isn't alive, they don't waste resources like this.

So if he was detained during a traffic stop, where are they conducting the search warrant? Which came first, the location of the search warrant, or the detainment in a vehicle? How long ago was the detainment?

Coming from a nurse/EMT, if the life flight was a total of 4 hours it’s highly unlikely that they were rescuing someone from an acute situation. Usually those are extremely quick and life flights won’t even fly if the patient can get to the hospital faster by ambulance. It was likely a transfer between hospitals for a patient who came in needing a higher level of care and time was needed to stabilize them enough first for flying. I could be wrong though

'It isn’t clear whether the man detained by law enforcement tonight is the person who was seen in security video appearing to tamper with a security camera at Nancy Guthrie's home.

The man who is being questioned was detained hours after the FBI shared the security video.'

Just think if NG was found alive, this would be splashed all over the news. SG would be headed to see her mother.
