BREAKING NEWS: ANOTHER ARREST IN THE NANCY GUTHRIE CASE

LOS ANGELES - As one person was detained for questioning – but released shortly after – in the Nancy Guthriecase, a man with ties to Los Angeleswas arrested and charged federally days prior for allegedly contacting relatives of the missing 84-year-old woman.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 11 on February 5, Derrick Callella is facing federal charges over allegations of reaching out to Nancy Guthrie's relatives asking about the ransom.

The court documents said Callella was charged with transmitting a demand for ransom in interstate commerce, and without disclosing his identity, utilizing a telecommunications device with the intent to abuse, threaten, or harass a person.”

I don't think that having analysed the blood splatter, it was planted at all, the pattern doesn't show that. You can see there are two sides to it and a large point at the end, almost in a V shape formation. If it was thrown in two stages to create that effect,it crossed over at a point a little. Still, it doesn't its all created in one go.
This pattern suggests that someone was hit with some sort of blunt force at the front door, and we know that it's Nancy's blood. I would suggest that perhaps, quite simply, Nancy was pulled out of the front door and possibly pistol-whipped with the gun. As she's an older lady, her skin is much thinnner so it's unfortunate that she would bleed and bruise much easier than a younger person.
As for who or what or why and all the other speculations, who knows, but let's just look at the evidence there is, not what there could be.

Perhaps it's just me, but it appears that the stems of the plant are too thin to be any use as a tool. I think he was trying to obscure.

video for reference
The masked man not prepared for one of first & most obvious crime scene hurdles. He might be the idiot cousin brought along at last minute, his job was to secure front door & be armed lookout while others accessed & entered a back door & took NG.
He either forgot his tape, hammer, shoe cover? for disabling camera . clear he knew it would be there - hunched walk. Does seem odd that he is all bundled up with stuffed backpack, hunched to obscure face etc … but no idea how to obscure the camera. (My son does a better job of sneaking his GF past our camera - I could give this joker some advice. Walk hunched, get right to camera and block camera with your body or get to the side of it facing away from door)

Feb 11, 2026
A man who says he was detained by Pima County Sheriff's deputies for "kidnapping" Nancy Guthrie spoke exclusively to ABC15 following his release.

This^^^ guy sounds believable, I think.

That appears to be an old article. Ten hours ago is a long time in this case, the "second" man is the one who was cleared and released last night. The first arrest they mention was the bogus ransom from last week.

Yes we discussed this card very early on in this thread. At the time it was my belief that this card appeared *after* the crime, because JMO MOO i don't think it was there in the earliest photos of Nancy's house in the very early days of the investigation. But perhaps I was wrong, I am going to see if there is a way to find out by going back in time over the images. Either way, the leaving of the card was very strange, but if it was indeed before then that is baffling.
Sorry, I didn’t know that it was posted about before.Today’s the first day, that I came back to WS after 11 years. I came because of Nancy’s case. And I started reading from page 1041. So I have no idea what was written before that page. I didn’t mean to post something you all have already discussed. Thanks for understanding. 😊

Sorry, as I am in Europe I was asleep when the article was first published, so I must have missed it.

Person who was detained has been released. It's a good reminder that detaining someone is different from arresting and charging.

Ok so I asked chatgpt to link me to the early news articles and it found me a reuters article from Feb 2nd in which there is a close up shot of the front door (jpeg attached) taken from that site:

My post here is from Feb 4th:

Was taken from a Daily Mail article linked in that post, but that article has now been updated. However you can see the image with the card in on my post.

MOO but this leads me to suspect that the card was placed there between 2nd Feb and 4th Feb, ie after Nancy went missing. I believe it would be visible in this attached image if it had been there at that time.

But nothing leads me to understand why or who would place it there!

All JMO and MOO. My techno skills are not great so am only hopeful to have done all of the above correctly.

Actually we didn't discuss it all that much, there was so much happening at the time, I think it's very interesting to revisit this card as I have always found it strange.

She may not have left from home. NG was active. She could’ve been at a friends, book club, a girl gaggle, having her hair done, any number of things.

If she had spend the night at her daughters this may not have happen.
Moo…
If you only live 4 minutes away, most older women want to go back home for the night to their own bed, bathroom, kitchen, etc. Also it is easier if you have medical or social appointments the next morning.
