AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Not true at all. I’m in the area and have multiple porch lights on every night and the majority of my neighbors do too. I have never heard of anyone getting fined for lights against the lighting ordinance, it’s more of a technicality when building than anything.

It's so good to have your perspective here.

I know they said the family did not hire outside help. But, I think if I were a member of the Guthrie family, I might consider hiring a PI at this point, especially after all of this back-and-forth nonsense that seems to be developing.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department tells us, “We’re looking for video from January 1 - February 2. PCSD is about to send out an alert through the neighbors app, wants people to pay attention to who is sending out alerts, and make sure it’s from officials. Alert will be sent out to those who live in a 2 mile radius of the Guthrie residence. Investigators are reviewing video submitted by neighbors.”

Good Lord. They are just now "looking for video from January 1 - February 2" ??? And just now "about" to send an alert through the neighborhood app?? Make sure it's from officials. Great. Luckily the neighborhood group has been more on the ball. Why didn't LE do this immediately. Even to say, PLEASE PRESERVE ANY FOOTAGE FROM JANUARY 1 - FEBRUARY 2" to at least ensure it didn't get overwritten. Honest to God, I have watched my local neighborhood lost pet Facebook groups act more proactive and organized than this investigation.

Actually, this is not too surprising given the relative smallness of the local sheriff's office versus the huge army of investigators who have moved in to help.

Typically, the local group is in charge... but I am guessing with the expertise of the FBI and since this is largely a very technical investigation, they are deciding and probably asking the officers to do most of the grunt work so "orders" are coming from the FBI thru the local sheriff's office.

This is the fog of battle on a very mysterious non-traditional big case.

We, as a group, are not without criticism. Many of us go on "hunches" and supposition from other posters... not the facts.

Glad we are not in charge!

I don't believe in coincidences; that backpack looks identical to the perps on NG’s front porch. Notice the back of it when he’s flipping it around to the pic of perp’s backpack on NG’s porch – it’s just as taunt. There’s no reason anyone should be in an alleyway trying to get into another’s back yard. Why are they blocking the alleyway perps face?

MOO.......
I agree that they do look identical.

I would assume since homeowner likely provided it that this would be illegal trespass, would that still not be enough reason to post actual video. I understand that still wouldn't mean they were a suspect, but...
In my neighborhood he would have been posted to the community on FB “Does anyone know this guy that’s trespassing on my property at date/time”

Um, that would have been helpful to ask the first day she was noticed missing.

MOO someone needs attention.

Agree. Not buying it.
He could just as easily report what he knows, get police protection and eventually the $50,000 reward. Nope.
In my opinion, the kidnapping angle has sailed away. I don’t know why NG was taken, but I doubt seriously anymore that it was for ransom.

This person is interesting. If they truly knew the kidnapper but they themselves were not involved in the crime in any way, they can report to the FBI and get the $50K reward. So yeah, either a scammer or someone closely involved in the kidnapping (could be the kidnapper themselves).
If it's real, we can definitely say the person demanding $$ has no morals. An 84 yr old woman, and they want money to rescue her? What has become of ethics?

The thing with this is that the streets in NG's neighbourhood are quite remote-looking. The homes are set back from the street, there is no sidewalk and tall native scrub. I would imagine many homes with the cameras would not even see past their driveways.

Is it true that Guthrie's have their own PI? I hope so.
No, the family has said that was false information, at least as of yesterday or day before.

As of last night, a source reported that the family had not hired their own PI. There are some stories with links in this chat from last night. I know this thread moves fast, but they are in here.

Same here. I am always getting notifications from people asking about someone they don't recognize. Also, almost everyone on my street has their porch lights on. I actually have a lightbulb on my porch light that comes on when it's dark, so I don't even need to turn it on/off. It's unbelievable to me that it didn't seem like NG had her front porch light on.

In regards to cutting power to home. I noticed when moving to Az some 20 years ago all circuit breakers are on outside of home which I personally had never seen until moving here. I put a lock on my cover of circuit box because did not like the idea of someone being able to turn off my power that easily but almost all are not locked. I recall a local news station talking about kids pulling pranks a few years back turning off peoples power in the evening while they were home. I bet Nancy's was on the outside too.
