I guess some neighbors have been asked about checking cameras for a grey truck. Fox News Nancy Guthrie disappearance: FBI reveals description of suspect and backpack he was wearing

“"Crime Stories with Nancy Grace" host Nancy Grace said federal authorities are looking for a gray truck in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

"They're asking everyone within a two mile radius to pull video and have they seen a truck, a gray truck, and do they own a truck, and do they know somebody who owns a truck?" Grace said of the investigation.

Grace said the reason authorities are searching for a truck is one has reportedly been spotted on video around questionable times.

Neighbors mentioned a possible gray truck in the area, though no make, model or license plate information has been provided.”

Problem with saying the truck is "gray" is that the porch cam video is black and white/gray scale. I'm in the graphic arts field and would expect this truck to be almost be any mid-tone. Silver, light green, copper, light blue, etc., would appear as gray when file is not in color. MOO.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen THOSE photos - now that could be from a suitcase potentially. Unless they were caused by the response teams that arrived after the report of Nancy missing
Odd how they just seem to appear in the front, just to the right of the stairs. They also seem to go out to the street. Also, noted that they are more visible from drone cam than eye level. Makes me wonder if they were even documented.

Why is he spending so much time there?
I wonder if the gray SUV they pan from at the start is Jason’s?

I mean, maybe he’s just a guy who really wants to pop up in interviews on social media, and who is socially awkward. But it seems odd.

Tucson is sounding quite scary…
Is this related?
TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A man has been arrested on several charges in connection with a homicide in South Tucson late Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The South Tucson Police Department said 26-year-old Leonard Miguel was charged with first-degree murder, robbery, kidnapping, and sexual abuse.

The STPD said the name of the victim, a 60-year-old woman, is being withheld until her family is notified.
IMO-no. Why would it be? South Tucson is a long way from Catalina Foothills. We don't know the details except the woman is older-not elderly, just older. IMO I don't see any connections. Tucson is not any more scary than another big city IMO. Sadly things like this can happen anywhere.

See I think he quickly went to kidnapping by stranger. He was adamant at first that she didn't wander away. Media quickly jumped from that to possibility of kidnapping and if a ransom was ever asked for. Then about two days in, then a ransom message popped up and I think media and sheriff ran into that direction. They did crime tape and search Nancy's house about four or five times -- each time taking down the crime tape. They never brought dogs in to search from house to wherever. We just saw boots on the ground for the first time over a week after she went missing. We did see searches at her daughter's house, which does seem fishy. I truly think someone close to her did this. If it was a robbery, we have NOT been told to look out for those items. So, I think this was personal. I really wish they had done a ground search much earlier, kept crime scene tape up (even pizza and Amazon deliveries happened -- did they contaminate crime scene on porch?). We saw that it was their 3rd or 4th time searching that they found a camera they missed. What about these "gloves" that got sent to Florida crime lab? Were they looked over in the initial searches as well? I still think ransom notes were done by people not involved in taking Nancy. The criminal(s) went to extreme measures to not show any skin or identifying marks even though they thought they were dismantling the camera. It sure seems like this premediated -- who does that besides a close friend/family member?

NPR, TMZ, etc have reported about search dogs. TMZ stated “One of the clips captures a Customs and Border Protection agent outside the home with a specially trained K-9 dog used by law enforcement to locate drugs, explosives, and missing persons” on Feb 5th. from Nancy Guthrie's Home Crawling With Police and K-9s, New Videos Show

I think there alot of assumptions out there, that simply are not the case. It does seem to me that there are some things have been bungled, but really none of us know. LE are going to hold back on alot. As they should.

Retired after decades with Houston Police Department, she helped solve over 170 cases and is in the Guinness Book of Records.

[…]

Gibson is widely regarded as a living legend in her field and retired from HPD five years ago after a career of helping law enforcement identify suspects through witness descriptions. In this case, though, she’s working entirely on her own. No department has requested her help and no agency has signed off on the drawing.
The sketch should not be viewed as an official image of a suspect. Instead, it reflects the instincts and experience of a veteran forensic artist who felt compelled to use her skills in a high-profile case that has captured national attention.

She seems like an extremely capable and competent artist, such amazing achievements in her career.

I personally think she should have approached LE/FBI and offered to do this, then had them release it.

I wonder if they've got daytime (and therefore probably colour) footage submitted by someone in the neighbourhood that shows the vehicle they're apparently looking for?

Why is he spending so much time there?
He may have some cognitive limitations or some sort of psychological disorder and this has put him in a tailspin. He may have the belief he is being "told" (by some unseen force) to deliver a message. In other words, he may be triggered.

Amateur opinion and speculation

There were multiple cameras on the property. The doorbell camera was likely physically disconnected as soon as it was removed from the doorway.

TMZ said the time of this video is 2:12 a.m.
Obviously it wasn't physically removed from the bracket until after 2:12 a.m. when this video was captured.
2:12 a.m. is when a sensor captured something/someone. LE didn't mention a camera capturing anything or anyone except at 2:12 a.m. so that leads me to believe the disconnection was from wires cut or via a phone app.

Any idea how they figured out that the backpack is black?

Does a pool being chlorine-based vs saltwater-based have any impact on viability of forensics?

New ideas:

1) Perp used the side of his fist to block camera because he was about to knock on the door when he noticed the camera, so he shifted his fist to quickly block it while he gathered his thoughts (something about the camera surprised him).

2) Perp didn't care that HE was on camera, but still needed it blocked/disabled. Why? To hide video of him leaving. Or video of someone else arriving.

Why hide video of him leaving? Because maybe he was leaving with a dead body that would undermine the kidnapping farce? Or there was some other aspect of the departure that he didn't want on camera?

So maybe he tried to cover it up with a plant, and when that failed, pulled the entire camera off.

Edit. Or he wanted it covered so that when he knocked, NG wouldn't see anything if she checked the camera.
ok, i think i know what he was doing with the plant when he weirdly held it there for a while and fiddled with it: he was trying to jam it into a crack or hook it on something so it would stay blocking the camera after he let go. then he could go about his business and not worry about it. don't think it worked though.

if so, non-terrible attempt at improvisation, but still amateurish and ill-prepared.

Did anyone ever find the jacket worn in the video? There's like 1000+ pages to go through so I missed it if it happened....

Found something similar, I'll post once I get on my computer but was just wondering what had been found so far. Tia

I agree. I observed this also when the video was released.

What is your opinion on why he was knocking?
Maybe knocking for his accomplice(s) who entered from the back door to let him in?

I'll say it right now as of this particular minute but it will change tomorrow, my mom in her late 70s has no security cameras and WILL NOT sign up for any type of subscription. I'd have to do it for her, and I will now because this is scary as he77 to me, even though I can't imagine anyone targeting her or breaking into her house in her community that she's in. But apparently...

I don't lock a door to my bedroom. She doesn't either. Do you? I'm honestly curious and if you can say without giving too much away, where do you live where you have to do that. We lock our doors, outside doors. I have some cameras and security, but she's in a gated community and I suppose we've gotten a little too comfortable with that but that's gonna change. She's gonna hate me starting tomorrow LOL

I thought NG's neighborhood looked very nice, "safe" as much as you can say. I think most people don't imagine things like this, most places are pretty alright. It's stuff like this that makes us add the locks and cameras and other security to what we thought were "safe" places.
Ok, I’ll join in! Share about security.

I’m in a small town in CA, I do not lock unless I’m going on a trip.

I do have cameras because of wildlife, and want to know when Amazon comes( package won’t be stolen), I just want to know! The wildlife are fierce here, coyotes commonly take small dogs and cats. We also commonly have mt lions and bears, although they DO look menacing, the coyotes are actually worse( attacking).

Megyn Kelly is reporting that LE is asking neighbors of AG's about a phone.

We need to get this corrected. Is she talking about Nancy's neighbors or Annie's because that makes a HUGE difference?

It is a single car tyre tread, just look at the scale.

The tyre tread on the left is just not as visible because of lighting or the drive being firmer on that side so not leaving as deep a tread.

I had not seen the narrow tracks in front of the house before. My first thought -- sorry for the graphic visualization -- is that it's about the width of a person, making me wonder if the marks could have been made by the dragging feet of a person? 😢

At the same time, it's hard to imagine that LE wouldn't have seen the tracks immediately and been all over them looking for dropped items or DNA evidence. So maybe the tracks were not there immediately after the crime and instead were made by some LE equipment or the legs of a media tripod?
