I think it’s risky for LE to release a sketch of a masked suspect. It could be off and then the public is then thrown off base as to who to lookout for.

I remember some investigators in previous cases were hesitant to release sketches for this very reason. They’d only release it if it was a cold case and they have nothing to lose.
LE did NOT release this. A retired sketch artist did it on her own accord, no LE involvement. (I agree, I don't think she should have, as obviously it is confusing people that it is "official")

If the focus for LE has again become the ransom messages, I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are in regards to the first two being from one individual and the next three (from someone claiming they’ll give the name of the main individual for one bitcoin) being a different person? Is it possible all five are from the same person/group?

I don’t know if it was ever stated whether the bitcoin account was the same account in all communications or was there another account used/set up just for the newer communications?
I believe they are likely all the same author. I'm not sure what the goal is if not money. It's very confusing because they keep saying the "kidnappers" aren't trying to obtain their ransom but the three notes from the rat is trying.

Too little info to make a really informed guess. It seems LE either doesn't trust the legitimacy of the notes or they simply have advised not to pay any ransom. I believe the three notes sent to TMZ had a different Bitcoin wallet.

It almost seems as though LE feel pressure to act too quickly because of media eye on them.
I think it's a little too late to get out of that vicious cycle

This case in particular has all the hallmarks of what captures the publics attention

The issues that are arising is LE acts as they are supposed to if they feel a tip or lead is strong enough , the media follows and hype it up because they know the eyes are many . The public then feed off that and in a digital world it explodes and the cycle repeats

The negative impact of that is it no longer stays about the victim , it becomes a commodity , an online transaction ,everyone is getting something out of it . Whether that be monetary gain , interaction , likes etc

I caught myself in a moment where I had actually forgotten this was about a very vulnerable lady who is missing. And I had to humble myself and remember what I'm here for and it's not about how many tips and leads don't go anywhere.

Throw every resource at your disposal in finding Nancy and if it was my mum , I would want every member of the force out there every night

Where is she , the clock is ticking and the biggest mistake in my eyes thus far , was not sealing her home as a crime scene on day one . It was just stupidity at its finest

Imo jmho ,

What is the motive for removing an 84 year old lady from her home ? Is it financial or is it something else entirely? Because atm I don't see any perp gaining financially from her disappearance

Not sure if posted yet, but thread moving so fast hard to tell, so here is reporter Brian Entin's tweet from 2 hrs. ago:

@BrianEntin

"Pima County Sheriff says last nights activity was a federal search warrant based on a lead they received. Traffic stop also connected. No arrest in either."
Fed search warrant is interesting. It’s usually considered harder to get a fed warrant than state… must have had some good information. We may see these folks pop back up, or a previous owner/user of the Range Rover. It seems like whatever happened is connected to the RR more than anything, given the entire vehicle has been seized (as compared to the DoorDash driver).

Megyn Kelly slammed the Today show in an explosive post on her blog for their seemingly insensitive post about mothers as host Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy, still hasn't been found.

The NBC show shared a video on their Instagram on February 13, which featured co-host Sheinelle Jones hugging Disney Channel alum Adrienne Bailon-Houghton's mother

The universal holster he had had a long belt loop on it like these cheapo vinly holsters do. He attempted an awkward appendix open carry with it, but basically it was dangling low front and center off of his belt-line. It did not have a clip like say the kydex holster I use and would tuck into my belt-line if I were conceal carrying appendix style.

Moreso, he had what appeared to be a late gen semi auto stuffed into a longer profile pistol holster (?), and was wearing thick gloves that would be hard to fit into a trigger guard, so his entire set-up was impractical "show-over-use".

To further drive the point on the weird mismatch and orientation of his gun carry....if someone showed up at my gun club or range with a semi stuffed in a cheap universal pistol holster and dangling at his crotch in some weird open carry semblance of an appendix carry, there would be audible laughter. For someone to actually use it in a real life op...yeesh.

The whole look/getup had some "lost in translation" filter about it that made it "off" like some edgy teenager's version of what a kidnapper would wear.

If you have noticed, LE has not said "lock your doors. Dangerous criminal on the loose". That tells ME they view this as targeted and personal and not a risk to the general public. They are asking for video starting from January 1. My guess is that they are looking for someone scoping out the area. I stand by my delusional, lovesick over SG stalker, theory. MOO
I agree with the obsessed angle but it needn't be a fan. In the current climate, it's more likely an unhinged person bent on retribution motivated by ill will, in my opinion. Stochastic speech and demonization are normalized, emboldening lone individuals to act in unpredictable ways. For instance, a manufactured, promoted disinformation campaign motivated an individual to drive 350 miles to shoot up Comet Ping Pong pizzeria. If he hadn't been caught at the scene, the culprit would have been difficult to find because he was not from the region and had no connection to the location or people.

The worst case scenario here is a kidnapper who is not from the region and has no nexus to the victim. Apprehension could also be frustrated if the crime is not rational to anyone but the perpetrator.

They cannot ask the FBI to take the lead. The FBI only takes the lead in federal crimes such as terrorism, bank robbery, kidnapping across state lines., civil rights, counter intelligence.. FEDERAL CRIMES. Local law enforcement is the lead for most cases as that is how the pecking order it is designed. FBI assists in local crime when asked and it is appropriate.

It was a federal warrant issued last night. That is telling and doesn't just imply FBI jurisdiction, but confirms it.

Building on my own post, that a federal warrant was issued strongly suggests that Harvey Levin's statement that the FBI considers the kidnapping and ransom demand one in the same is accurate.

I would almost suggest it has something to do with the latest bitcoin demands to TMZ with it being fed paper… but them taking the RR makes no sense if that’s all it was about.

Wasn't there talk that this was a common way to carry in Mexico?

I am 77. There is NO WAY i will open my door at 2 am to anyone! Nancy’s mind was sharp. I doubt she felt 84. She was certainly wise enough to call 911 if anyone is at her door in the middle of the night. Just because you reach a certain age you don’t just get stupid. As a matter of fact, it makes you a bit wiser and careful to take precautions. If only our bodies were as strong as our mental faculties, we would be okay. I still know how to shoot straight and not miss my target.
i am praying for Nancy.
I’m 72 and won’t even answer my door in broad daylight. I don’t want to become a statistic!

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos admitted the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, could take “years.”

After hitting several dead ends in the investigation, the weary sheriff promised that his team would remain dedicated to finding Guthrie — even if their search goes on for longer than intended.

“Maybe it’s an hour from now,” Nanos told the New York Times on Friday. “Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy.”

The update arrived shortly after authorities believed they had received a break in their investigation after they detained a delivery driver, Carlos Palazuelos, for questioning on Tuesday.

You're right. I just zoomed in and I can see the area protruding where the snap is now.

The only thing that is throwing me - The lining of the holster is not the same color as the holster itself.
Would the holster being white in the footage mean it would actually be black and if so, would the lining of the holster then be white/lighter in color because it is black on the footage?
Here’s the actual Lantana man backpack and then with camera night vision.

And here’s a quick link to how night vision cameras may distort images

Good points. I was referring to some of the comments made on tv stating the fbi has the tech capabilities to unmask the perp and get a composite. They’d have to be pretty certain a composite is going to be accurate enough to generate the right tips.

If she SAW him she probably wouldn't have opened the door. But maybe he stood where she couldn't see him, only hear him? "Hey, Nancy. It's X, can you open the door, I broke down and my phone is dead. Can I borrow yours?"

That isn't what happened IMO. But completely plausible. And lends credence that she knew them or recognized them and that's why they took her.

I think Lantana Man was there as #2 just for clean up, waiting for #1 (who came in the back door) to open the front door to let him (#2) in.

We still don't even know if this was a forced entry situation. Do we not know that because it wasn't a forced entry, or no sign of a break in?

Just putting this here as I found it interesting. When we had an in-ground pool we used the same pool cleaners for years and it was always on the same day.

A new pool cleaning company sounds reasonable.

LE haven't ruled anyone out and if they're keeping track of the contractors who regularly visit NGs home. Probably best those people stay away until investigation concludes.

I believe this. IMO, this case is going to go cold. Thank you @imstilla.grandma !
