To further drive the point on the weird mismatch and orientation of his gun carry....if someone showed up at my gun club or range with a semi stuffed in a cheap universal pistol holster and dangling at his crotch in some weird open carry semblance of an appendix carry, there would be audible laughter. For someone to actually use it in a real life op...yeesh.

The whole look/getup had some "lost in translation" filter about it that made it "off" like some edgy teenager's version of what a kidnapper would wear.
It's the oddest thing! I've never held a gun. But if someone handed me a holster and said to put it on my waist, I would know where to put in and on what side. And on the freak chance you've never seen a gun holstered properly, I would think common sense would tell you over the jewels would not be comfortable?

Wasn't there talk that this was a common way to carry in Mexico?

There were some commentators that called it "Mexican carry". That is not correct at all (I saw one expert say this erroneously in an interview).

Mexican carry is a general term given when anyone just tucks their gun into their pants, etc. without any holster, it's clearly more loose, dangerous, improvised. It's not necessarily a more common way to carry in Mexico but more of a cavalier, bandito style if you will. What the Nest cam suspect did was dangle it off a belt loop front and center--essentially and open carry awkward version of "appendix carry" but he was just letting it hang front and center (I think to display for intimidation as he approached the door).

Now I've said that his get-up seemed "lost in translation". I've seen such mismatched/cheapish get ups in third world countries -- the sandbox (Afghanistan, ME), West Africa, Central America, where they wear nikes and track suits along with mil-surp gear in a practical cheap mix. I have my opinion on Nest cam guy and without getting flamed it seems the suspect was sporting bandito chic if you will.

I believe this. IMO, this case is going to go cold. Thank you @imstilla.grandma !
Patience please, this isn’t a 60 minute police show on television. Please refer to the Idaho 4 murders: Rhoden/Wagner case, Alex Murdaugh etc., these real life situations are difficult to solve. And not to forget Joesph James Angelo (AKA “ The Golfen State Killer”) it took 38 years to arrest him!

Seems like a strange time to get a pool cleaned. It can wait.

Why let additional folks onto the property if it’s entirely unnecessary. Hopefully this isn’t like the pizza delivery guy sent by some randos. LE should turn pool people away regardless of who approved them.
Possible evidence in the pool or drains, wanted it swept?

Building on my own post, that a federal warrant was issued strongly suggests that Harvey Levin's statement that the FBI considers the kidnapping and ransom demand one in the same is accurate.

JMO.
The ransom notes would likely fall more under the FBIs purview and run afoul of federal laws: Wire Fraud Act and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act to name a couple.

I wonder if it will be solved because someone with knowledge of what happened starts to let their guard down and starts talking or bragging to friends. Where does LE go when the leads, searches and evidence stop? Unfortunately, if nothing else happens in the next week, I don't think that will be in time for NG to come home. JMO

What if it was a gesture by NG family that they are keeping her house in good order because they have faith she may come back to it?

Do you think it could be people "playing" cartel in an effort to try and gets funds?

I know zilch about guns but I don't think a gun club would laugh....he would look soooo out of place that everyone would take a defensive stance in preparation for a crazy mass killer!!!! JMO

This is from Megyn Kelly on youtube. Apparently a neighbor saw a guy on her ring camera snooping around on her porch looking suspicious. Please look and tell me this is not the exact man who was seen on Nancy’s porch and why hasn’t the sheriff released this picture to the public to warn them?
Only difference I can see is that Nancy’s kidnapper wore an outfit to cover who he is and the guy on this video did not. there is a clear picture of his face.
When he turns to walk away, his gait is the same and his hips are wider than his legs. Very same. And he has that look of the dark eyebrows, mustache and goatee. There is a profiler discussed here who drew a picture of what she thinks the masked man looks like. This video looks like a cross between DE and the picture the woman drew.
MOO but this guy is wearing a mask.

Don't forget kidnapping. This case has that component too, and those statutes you outlined, if applicable, would permit federal jurisdiction in a kidnapping for ransom case.

Fbi Seizes Vehicle In Search For Missing Nancy Guthrie

Pima County sheriff and FBI agents taking away a Range Rover,

Police in Arizona investigating the disappearance of TV host Savannah Guthrie’s mother have seized a vehicle from a parking lot and sealed off a road near Nancy Guthrie’s home.

A parade of sheriff’s and FBI vehicles, including forensics vehicles, passed through the roadblock that was set up about two miles from the house.

The two agencies tagged and towed a Range Rover SUV from a Culver’s restaurant parking lot

We still don't even know if this was a forced entry situation. Do we not know that because it wasn't a forced entry, or no sign of a break in?
We do not. The front security door seemed intact and we have not really heard the details of the "forced entry". I would be very interested in that.

We did see a suspect walking up to an old lady's front door late at night brandishing what looked to be a firearm and masked. I believe he positioned his gun (which was not visible in earlier frames) front and center as an intimidation and coercion factor.

I don't care how "sharp as a tack" this 84 year old lady who lived alone was, people panic and blunder when woken suddenly at night and thrown into a fearful situation. It would not shock me to find she opened the door. (bang bang bang. "hey lady, quick I need your help" "what? what is it? wait? hold on", opens door sees masked man in gun, complies" Not my PERSEC but even my own parents don't follow my security advice and get startled and make poor decisions.

I'd hate to live in the Tucson area--and look anything like the suspected POI and be scooped up LE.

How many more leads that potentially look like the POI that are called in are going to have their doors broken down (the Rio Rico guy did)

I'm sorry but this is just crazy the way this case is being handled.

I'm not hopeful this SO is capable of bringing Nancy home safely, unfortunately.

Purchase of face shaving supplies in Arizona just went up by 5000%

Besides the house a few days ago & last night, have other search warrants been issued? For example, was Annie’s home searched with a warrant or just searched with permission? (Not implying, I just don’t know the answer to this) I’ve decided to go back to my original thoughts.(and most likely MANY peoples’s original thoughts).
IMO, She was taken by someone whom she knows or by someone hired by someone she knows. She isn’t far. Her medicine is with her & this blew up bigger than expected & now they are stuck. I’m sticking with this. They say the majority of crime happens because of money, sex, or drugs. I’ve eliminated 2 of those in this case. This was intended to be easy peasy, get the $ and run, not kill her etc. and now they don’t know what to do. I wish the media & circus of people would just go home. It might give the captors the breathing room to let her go.

I heard on a podcast last night that journalist are already trying to position themselves to take over Savanna's Today host position.
Likely only temporarily, not permanently

"DNA other than Nancy Guthrie’s and those in close contact to her has been collected from the property," the Pima County Sheriff's Department said on Friday in a statement to PEOPLE. "Investigators are working to identify who it belongs to. We are not disclosing where that DNA was located."

Nobody with a fully functioning brain is going to open their door at 2 a.m. period. MOO but come on
I wouldn't even open the door if I heard screaming. I would offer to call someone, or call out that the police were on the way, or fire from the window if it seemed to be a life or death situation, but no way am I opening that door.

My husband travelled for most of our marriage, so there were many, many nights where it was just me and our daughter. Someone may break in, but I'm definitely not letting them in.
