I have not read every comment but for those that think it was someone she knew or had seen before, I lean that way because of the ski mask and the person (if involved) showing up on camera in the middle of the night not too far away in the days before. I don't think they wanted her to recognize them. Just my two cents. I am guessing a hired person/roofer or just a hired bad guy. I think it was for money not revenge.

True, but I had never heard of her before this
Hadn’t heard of her either in Aus. There does seem to be daily coverage but I wouldn’t say it all over the news. Our political situation this week has taken precedence.

Ok, . Getting into this. I worked in NYC for years. A friend of my who left the force during the DeBlasio admin started a landscaping business in a cushy part of Long Island with estates and McMansions. It is no secret that there are crime affiliations and gangs based on ethnic commonality/nationalities. It is not just a cliche that many landscape hires are Spanish speaking. My friend told me "you'd be surprised how many of these guys I hired have connections, a cousin and friend a neighbor. Whatever, I have to be real careful hiring these dudes, bringing them around these houses." We had a huge problem with MS13 in the tri-state suburbs, and most people in those communities are very innocent good hardworking people, but you have to understand they navigate and live in close proximity to that element. From what I understand from colleagues many border towns share this same dynamic. So associates, wannabes, a crazy cousin trying to front as a gangbanger. I can see that sphere of influence here. There's a gray area with the street life as it were.

But it can always be something totally random. Some cases fit the pattern some are way left field.
Re Drug Trade. JMO

Along these lines, I mentioned earlier, that I thought it may be someone in the drug trade. Very close to Border where drugs come across daily, many people undoubtedly “ moonlight” in the drug trade. Tucson is known to have a lot of crime, probably drug crime is high, including getting rid of possible snitches. JMO

Possibly someone who worked for NG, day job checked out, hard working, honest on day job. Good work reviews. Worked some kind of construction or repair.

Maybe, one day NG happened to be walking near a worker, his car trunk open, she spotted what looked like cocaine bricks. Because NG had seen this on the News, close to border. NG asked “hey, is that drugs? ( she’s sharp as a tack!). It Was drugs!, but the worker closed the trunk and waved her off, “No just supplies for the construction business”. Acted amused and tried to laugh it off, assured her all was good.

Later, this person got paranoid, thought NG might turn him in. He worried about his own freedom, and drug bosses finding out that he may have gotten himself ( and ring) exposed. He hatched a plot with a drug friend, to get disguises, go into NGs home, remove her. So she would not talk, I’m sorry, I think she was killed right away, deposited in desert.

This example is a “ simple” everyday crime, and sadly, this kind of crime happens a lot because of possible exposure of the drug ring. I’m sorry, a beloved Mom is now likely gone. This theory works as there are few obvious clues RN, and in this example, because it was purely voice to voice convo, and no one else heard them, no texts or emails. NG probably forgot about it, didn’t tell anyone either.

Just an idea, as other ideas like kidnapping/ransom don’t make sense to me, too complicated.
I hope I’m wrong, that Nancy is still out there.

JMO

Edited to add, one thing about doesn’t make sense about abduction, the drug trade usually just shoots the person they want gone, doesn’t abduct.

Not buying that about internal cameras, we would have heard about that before now. If even to confirm Nancy was seen inside the house that night. Nonsense IMO.
That would imply that she was monitored inside her home..her movements etc. Since a huge amount of falls happen in the bathroom, that would imply she was viewed even while in the bathtub or shower or?? NO ONE HAS EVER SAiD SHE HAD A LIFE ALERT BUTTON SHE WORE., FOR EXAMPLE. That would be much more practical and far less intrusive than 24/7 cameras in her kitchen. Not buying it. HELL, no one was even paying for her Nest camera doorbell subscription! Now, we are supposed to believe she had cameras all over the house recording her every move? no way. MOO

Drug traffickers don’t usually leave their truck open in the middle of the day where an 84-year-old woman can see it.

I find this interesting because it gives confirmation of
1) inside cameras
2) the family specifically monitoring NG (or at least that was the intent)
3) access to people (which is more that most in a home where only the homeowner has access).

Now, if these were set up by the family surely they were recording. Were they a separate system from the Nest? All home wifi systems and more elaborate CCTV now use cloud based recording. Why in this context would that not be available (it would not make sense otherwise to monitor their mom in case of falls, they need to access the footage, they are not watching 24/7).

Now the huge advantage of cloud based recordings (as opposed to back in the day when a skell would smash and grab a local dvr during the crime) is that you will record the person disabling the system and have it on your cloud/push alert even if the camera is disabled (just like the doorbell cam). So what happened here? And with the approach angles to inside cameras you'd probably have some better footage as the cameras were being disabled (and again why smashed, just spray and disconnect them, again amateur approach).
I think this may be misreporting. I am sure at one of the pressers the sheriff said there were no inside cameras.

Here is a wild idea- is it possible that the real perpetrators are sending in 'tips' that seem to have some validity, but are purposefully sending the local LE and FBI on wild goose chases to make them look bad? How does LE and FBI determine if a tip is valid?

I see people posting about cameras inside the house that the Guthrie children installed. I'm also seeing talk about those cameras being smashed.

Where is this info coming from because I can't find a MSM source or any other reliable source. Everything I see says there is no info about the state of the inside of the house.

Apologies if I missed it somewhere!

The source of this article is RadarOnline. Not exactly mainstream media or reliable.
I am not usually a fan of RadarOnline but we’re having to deal with TMZ links as well as that was where 1 of the ransom notes went. And the kidnappers strangely seemed to want it to be celebrity centric by sending it there. That’s another area for exploration.

If you check the link for credibility it ranges from low RadarOnline to high for AOL which this is on anyways.

More importantly there’s additional expert analysis from a former FBI profiler that is interesting to consider and makes some sense.

Signs Point to an Inside job

“The cameras were installed by Nancy's family, including her Today anchor daughter Savannah, for their elderly mom's safety, especially if she suffered a fall.

But the abductor knew where they were situated, prompting a belief they may have been familiar with the security setup – first reported by journalist Ashleigh Banfield – inside the home.

A source said, "The signs point to an inside job. Cameras that were smashed inside the home were there to protect their mother.

"Only a very few people have access to them — they were installed to make sure nothing happened to their mom, like if she fell when home alone."

Whoever this possible abductor is, they went inside the house and knew where those cameras were pointing," the insider added. "They were able to smash the cameras before their motion was visible in the recordings or streams. To do this, it takes a chilling level of intel."

Is radironline a credited resource? I always thought they were not reliable and therefore not allowed. This is the first time I’ve heard of cameras inside the house and cameras being smashed. iIRC, some externals lights were smashed.

Is it possible that they could have gone to Mexico and gotten the needed medication without a prescription?
I have actually thought about this, and hoped that this could be the case. If she needs meds to survive everyday like it has been said, that would be one way to get them going under the radar. But if that were the case, providing proof of life should be a no brainer if they really wanted the ransom. From what we have been told, they have not provided proof of life.

let me try to find it ... I am sorry I did not include it. Let me search again

quoted from the Article ... New York Times Article on 2/13/26

Her toughness has always surfaced in difficult moments, like when her husband died suddenly in 1988, or when budget cuts threatened a vital public health service at the university where she worked, or even two days before her disappearance, when she insisted on walking to the end of her gravel driveway to get the mail, even if a friend had to help.

I'm guessing valid tips jive with some known information.

I am getting flashbacks to Libby and Abby murder also, where they had the name of the suspect within days and yet it took years for them to finally realize the mistake

The Daily Mail pays top dollar to the paparazzi for shots and it shows but when it comes to actual journalists they seem to invest nothing.
It's always been the shots yes and they are EVERYWHERE as their reason for existing. The pressure to work there must be something, while working there I mean. Inside story would be interesting now that I think of it. IMO

Basically the jacket, holster and backpack was all Walmart. I wonder if FBI have asked all the Walmarts within a 100 mile radius to check for a transaction that included all 3. Walmart has nearly the same amount of cameras as a casino! They’ve helped in many cases. I’m sad I even have to ask if they’ve done this, but the whole investigation is a clown show. So many resources poured into a follow up lead 2x and NOTHING to show for it.
