I certainly pray that is true, but I will be very surprised if NG is still alive. A home invasion is a huge stressor for someone with heart trouble. Being kidnapped even more so. Since SG described her as frail, I'm afraid her system couldn't withstand much fear
and stress.

Now, if the criminals were intending a burglary, I don't see how they would be prepared for that to become a kidnapping. With no expectation of having a hostage, they had no reason to prepare a place to hold her. And every hour she remains with them, with no meds, is more stress on her body. Her captors should be freaked out and freaked out people don't make good decisions.

Regardless, I admire SG's steadfast effort to reach whatever spark of humanity may live in the people that took her. I can't imagine what hell they are going through.

Agree. Was curious to see what folks are thinking now. I still go back to my original inclination. I do believe it was murder, and I do think that a person/persons were hired as part of the scenario, perhaps for the original deed, maybe for cleanup. I think it will end up being very close to her inner circle because I think whoever was acquainted with the property, the home, that area and we know felt comfortable enough to be inside for 41 minutes in the middle of the night.

I do not buy into burglary or kidnapping. That backpack was stuffed to the gills, and no burglar is going to go in without room to take whatever they're supposedly there for plus nothing seems to show stolen items. And I still go back to the same thought that no one is going to take an elderly, sick woman on a cane hostage. You also have the facts early on where there was no request for money until I think some random folks got involved with notes, etc that have nothing to do with the original murder. It's not cartel, too messy, not their style.

Maybe it was an argument that went wrong or I do still think there's a chance that the people associated with the murder tried to stage it as though it was a burglary or a kidnapping, etc. However, I do not think that was the actual intent in any of it. I think it was disposal and cleanup. Just awful.

I agree with most of this, LE brought in the homicide squad right away.
The only part is “ someone close” to NG, if they have interviewed all family, workers, delivery people, who could it be?
Perhaps, the 41 minutes inside, included NG negotiating, “I won’t tell, please let me go” ( just an example). They considered letting her stay, live, but it was too big a risk, even with disguises.

I still think it could be something as simple as local thugs in the drug trade, NG saw or found out something about a worker, moonlighting in drug trade. Too big a risk, she needed to be gone.

I hope I’m wrong, that somehow she is still alive.

The Lantana man was covered head to toe in coverings, how was his DNA discovered in the house? What was it? Did he sneeze and even with the masks on, droplets fell onto a surface? I think there were two people inside, maybe the second person wasn’t as careful and his/her hand physically touched something?

Yes, Google backend systems can recover disconnected or deleted Nest camera footage, a capability highlighted by high-profile law enforcement investigations, such as in February 2026, where the FBI retrieved video from a disconnected camera that had no active subscription. @jtfolden is trying to make the point that if the camera were really disconnected from the internet (in this case, via wi-fi), the footage that's stored locally in the Nest camera, ready for upload to Google's servers, is never uploaded. For it to be uploaded, it needs a connection. Even the FBI can't recover footage from Google's servers if that footage never left the camera. If the camera was disconnected, and footage recorded after the disconnection was recovered, the camera had to have reconnected at some point and uploaded the footage to Google's servers.

I posted this last night. LE should potentially be able tie the glove to the Guthrie residence through plant DNA. The glove in question , if used by the perp, should be loaded with lantana plant DNA .

And the perp had the bite light in his mouth, a rich source of DNA, which should be on the glove when he pulled the light out of his mouth. We see the bite light in his mouth and him handling the lantana plant on video. So the plant DNA and his own DNA should be on that glove. And we have the video of all of it.

I'm not getting why the FBI need to announce that they are going to enter the DNA results into the DNA data base; just do it.

It seems like by what BE read per the FBI is that they may have a partial match to some evidence they already have, concerning the gloves, and they are submitting the full profile to Codis to make it an official match.
Now that is just my personal take on it.

Agree it was unintentional. Maybe the criminal had nothing to do with NG injury. She could have been attempting to flee, fell, hit her head. Perp did not know what to do, spent those 41 minutes checking NG with no response. He then decided to take her. Then what?

That is the million dollar question. If she could identify him by his voice, she may have even said something like "I know you!" After which, he would panic and irrational thinking would kick in. What started as a small theft suddenly feels like a life-ending moment. His adrenaline spikes, his thinking narrows, and he immediately assumes he’s been identified and that arrest is inevitable.

In that panic state, his thoughts become very basic and urgent: escape now and face prison later, or try to control the person who can identify him. The first urge is to control, so he likely bound and gagged her, put her in his vehicle and left.

Judging by the over all incompetence of the crime scene and his actions, I speculate that if he killed her, he took off and didn't look back. But, if he did kill her, it was not intentional. I do not believe he killed her though.

This is all so confusing. Are we confident that DNA was actually collected ON or IN her property? I feel like we've heard reports and then it's been stepped back and forth.

Two things I'm pondering on Monday morning:
1. Did the alert sent to Nancy’s phone when the suspect removed the ring camera wake her up causing the confrontation that may have injured her?
2. Did the suspect break in somewhere other than the front door, injure Nancy either intentionally or accidentally, and call in a waiting accomplice to come to the front door from where they removed her. Did they use the front to to carry her out rather than carry her all around from the back or side of the house? An unconscious person is very heavy to carry. The front entrance has the u shaped driveway for a quick entry and exit. The removal of the ring camera was not initially planned but became necessary after she was injured and had to be carried rather than walked out from the back or the side of the house.

ETA If this was a planned kidnapping, the perpetrators may have planned to take her alive, bring her to a preplanned location, and begin ransom negotiations. They would not treat her badly and everything, (in their minds) would be quite civilized. This would explain the disguise he was wearing. She could not identify anyone who may be involved. They could collect their ransom and ride off into the sunset. Once she was injured, perhaps badly, the whole game changed.
