Is it correct feds have jurisdiction in ransom cases? Would that mean that if FBI has determined ransom notes are directly connected to NG, they take over?

Just trying to reason though the PCSD/Nanos statements to media the last 48 hoursish and wondering if some of the info leaking/coming is from the FBI and hasn’t been shared with PCSD? While that seems extremely unlikely, I just don’t know what to think.

If the 4 emails were sent to TMZ using whatever people use to hide their IP address I wonder if each time they do this it makes it a little easier for the FBI to track them. I sure hope so. If they do have valid info I want them found. If they don’t I still want them found and prosecuted. JMO

NewsNation is reporting live that the signal sniffer helicopter is currently flying over Nancy Guthrie's home and surrounding area.
Excellent.

They did separately report that unidentified dna was found in NG's home that didn't belong to any know family/workers/etc. The odd thing is I don't think they have mentioned the testing of the dna found in the home against the dna found on the gloves - which is interesting. are they not the same profile types or....? We also haven't heard if the unidentified NG house dna had a codis match. Maybe they don't have enough for a profile??? Did I miss this?

The sheriff said that unidentified DNA was found on NG's "property," but he wouldn't say if it was found in the home or outside the home. In the following linked article, he is quoted as saying that the unknown DNA found on the property was not a CoDIS match.

Authorities in Arizona have found DNA belonging to someone other than Nancy Guthrie or those in close contact with her on her property.

Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County, Arizona, confirmed this to NewsNation during a Friday evening appearance on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

The sheriff said the DNA was collected from the crime scene the morning investigators processed Nancy Guthrie’s home but declined to specify whether it was found inside or outside the house. The DNA has not matched anyone in CODIS, the national database for people convicted of crimes.

No the FBI said the glove sent for testing is different from the searchers gloves:

The FBI says investigators collected “approximately 16 gloves in various areas” near the Guthrie house, but most of them were searchers’ gloves discarded in various areas when they searched the area.

According to the FBI, the one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video.

SOURCE: Guthrie disappearance could be result of burglary attempt

imo

I think you may have misread my post. I said nothing about the "searchers" gloves.
I referred to the single glove found which is similar to the perp gloves, and which was sent for testing.

Yes, feds have jurisdiction in ransom cases and FBI is running that part of this investigation. MOO

I like finding out info like this but at the same time, I wonder if whoever did this is also finding out this same stuff

So frustrating. We have man on camera which shows visible eyes and general body type/height; a forensic sketch; a bunch of clothing/equipment to track down the purchasing of; unknown DNA in the home; a glove which looks like the one porch guy is wearing with DNA on it; a man who apparently spent over 40 minutes in the home; video/camera of a truck/suv which is suspected to be kidnappers', etc. We are three weeks into this. So many clues. So little results.

I’m assuming anything released is purposeful. There seems to a lot that has been released since the SWAT raid this past weekend.

I think they’re putting the pressure on someone.
MOO.

I agree, and I also wish it were done sooner.

Or, that FBI experts on kidnapping and hostage negotiation told SG exactly what to say to get the best response from the kidnapper. Saying "just do the next right thing" to the perpetrator might give them confidence that SG believes in their goodness, that this was all a terrible mistake and he really is a good guy who usually does the right thing.

SG is appealing to his goodness and his desire to do good things and to continue to do good things.

I think SG's language could possibly make a positive difference with the kidnapper. She's making a good case for why he would return her mother. JMO
On MS Now in the last hour or so, a profiler said she doubted the appeal would have an effect on the person or persons who took NG (who she thought were cold sociopaths) but that it might have an effect on someone who knows him/them.

Retired FBI agent noticing both SWAT raids involved someone living with their mother (I think CP’s was MIL, but still). Maybe that is part of the profile and appeal is to the mother?

Makes sense, and excellent point. Mother, perhaps?

I am not a genius and this seems like a logical strategy so I'm sure they are aleady doing this-but being that much of the suspect's clothing is being reported as being from Walmart, I would thing that would be a fairly easy find? If I worked at Walmart and someone bought a jacket, holster, skii mask, etc. I would remember that and connect it to Nancy. I wonder if Walmart has put out a mass email to their store managers? And if ordered online, can't Walmart search their orders? They could have purchased items separately, but still, this seems like a good way to find the him/her/them.

Not sure if LE found unidentified DNA on property or is saying this taunt the perpetrator with the hopes they'll make a mistake and do something that will help LE build a case against him (e.g. cell phone call etc)

If LE did find unidentified DNA on NG's property and it didn't match anyone in CODIS, LE could plug it into a genealogical website such as Gedmatch and figure out who this person is by looking at their close DNA matches. JMO

Unless they are negotiating secretly behind the scenes, I don't think this feels at all like a kidnapping for ransom. You don't want someone for 3 weeks, especially an elderly person with health issues. This feels like a famous/rich person went missing and con artists are taking their shot at money. I don't think any actual communication from the individual in the video has occurred. My thought, terrible as it is, is that this is a serial offender and had nothing to do with who her family was. This feels like a bad situation and I feel what happened has already happened within a few hours of her being taken. I hope I'm wrong and someone returns her safely. But this just doesn't feel like a sophisticated kidnapping for money.

Was thinking mother, too. Perhaps perp is getting increasingly nervous and scared, and somebody close to them may be starting to wonder if this perp could be their son, their son's friend, etc.

That Robinson that was flying around the mountains yesterday is circling over NG home. Albeit at 3,000 ft which is way too high for "signal sniffer" or any search effort. My guess is private owner taking a look at the house out of curiousity. JMOView attachment 645574
FYI, that's 3,175 feet barometric altitude, not absolute altitude.
