To me it looks like dark spots on his jacket. I am hoping that is not blood. If they were able to get nest cam footage after the camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. this could be sometime around or after 2:12 a.m. Maybe while the perp was in the process of getting Nancy out of the front door. Notice how the doormat area is cropped out in this picture too.

Remember I think LE went back to the house and removed what looked like a camera middle of front of house on the outside? This may be footage from another camera.

if there is one thing google is good at, it’s storing customer data under and over the table. imo they have more footage and will receive additional if they haven’t already

They look the same to me. I think it is just because the picture of him without the backpack is cropped more making it less clear and more distorted.

That's because they have no local storage and any video recoved is not magically done with forensics... Either Google has a backup of the video on their servers or they don't. At most they would need to find and decompress the video. The other possibility is that the cameras just don't work. Anyone with video cameras in a hot climate can tell you that the summer heat can cause them to stop functioning altogether.

Yes, but Google wasn't positive they would be able to recover any images or video from the doorbell Nest camera either, but they did. Hoping for another miracle.

as per cnn, they’re doing just that. they used a term that’s basically “scraping the layers” to retrieve the data. imo they’re using specific language because google is inundated with lawsuits regarding customer privacy, so they don’t want to outright say that they have data that’s not kosher

but that’s speculation in my part (though partially emboldened by cnn’s current reporting with the google/nest rep)

100% agree. IMO Google likely doesn't want to admit they are retaining video far longer than their policies/agreements state they are. Thus the claim that the video was recovered through some kind of elaborate forensics process.

The shoes are so clearly different though. There are no black marks on the lantana man’s shoes visible throughout the entire video. And the man without the backpack has black markings on his shoes. I think it is either two different people or the same man on a different night. I lean towards two people though IMO

Might sound dumb but I think it might be socks or toed slippers at first, when he knows he’s going to be going indoors, so as not to leave shoeprints, then when he goes back to get the camera, after Nancy has been taken out of the house and he’s ready to drive away, maybe after something has gone wrong and he’s not so cautious, from the panic, he’s got his shoes back on. Not 100% where my mind’s at, but think it’s at least a possibility.

yes!! call it hopeium on my part, but i think they have a decent to strong lead or visual and are trying to nail this at every angle.

Sure I understand that. Just like I understand they have to test every disposable glove they find on miles of roadside even though chances are they are not linked at all. Both are stretches. But again, what purchases are they tying? Leads? Walmart universal pistol holsters? They don't even sell those in that color and the details of that holster is different. That universal nylon holster seen in the dark IR lit Nest footage can be over of dozens of models produced by multiple companies over decades. Looked like a yard sale holster to me. So they are tracking down guestimates at best.

I am curious, what color do you believe that holster to be? I had seen this one (which does sell from Walmart), which was made of black polyester and polyester lights up like it's electrified under IR light (white). The strap and shape also fit within the style. I'd like to know what details you see to be different, just for my own knowledge base and to search around. I don't find others like this one, though I am sure ebay has them. ( I don't buy cheap holsters, so have no frame of reference).

I'm positive they are just attempting to cover their asses legally with that explanation. It doesn't pass the smell test IMO.

Interesting. It did not look thick enough for a walkie to me, and I did not see an antenna or buttons, but it was such a quick look and pretty bad quality. I'll put that on my list of possibilities.
