Interesting. It did not look thick enough for a walkie to me, and I did not see an antenna or buttons, but it was such a quick look and pretty bad quality. I'll put that on my list of possibilities.

I am curious, what color do you believe that holster to be? I had seen this one (which does sell from Walmart), which was made of black polyester and polyester lights up like it's electrified under IR light (white). The strap and shape also fit within the style. I'd like to know what details you see to be different, just for my own knowledge base and to search around. I don't find others like this one, though I am sure ebay has them. ( I don't buy cheap holsters, so have no frame of reference).

In IR the black neoprene will show up much lighter (white) compared to the stitching. Many pigments that are "black" in the visible spectrum become transparent or highly reflective in the near-infrared range (700nm to 1100nm)

Not in my experience, but yours may be different. Nylon and polyester are bright (look whitish) under IR, even if they are black in color. Neoprene mostly absorbs the light in my experience. That is why the Walmart holster made sense to me.

100% agree. IMO Google likely doesn't want to admit they are retaining video far longer than their policies/agreements state they are. Thus the claim that the video was recovered through some kind of elaborate forensics process.

I think you're right on the nose with this. I was thinking the same and this at least gives me hope that they'll be able to recover more.

I thought it was established that the FBI (stupidly and amateurishly IMO) released AI generated images of the perp without the backpack to make his height more discernable and in the process inadvertently altered other aspects of the photos.

I agree - I thought it was reported they generated a photo without the backpack and front holster, so people could see him without those things on.
BUT when I saw this first photo without the backpack, the background was inside a home. Behind him was an end table with lamp on it and a big picture on wall. At first I thought it was a photo of him inside the home. I believe that post was on
Fri Feb 6. Does anyone else remember seeing that photo? I have not seen it since…. It is always the outside background with arch entryway as the background for photo of him without backpack.

The shoes are so clearly different though. There are no black marks on the lantana man’s shoes visible throughout the entire video. And the man without the backpack has black markings on his shoes. I think it is either two different people or the same man on a different night. I lean towards two people though IMO

Quite possibly. I just don't see why they wouldn't say this could be two individuals in these images that we are looking for. Or if they knew it was a different date that would also be helpful to share.

I do think the man without the backpack looks a tad shorter and a tad heavier than the one in the video but it could be that he is just further back and at an angle.

Random botched burglary is not even possible in my view. A common burglar isn't escalating an unforeseen botching by adding the logistical nightmare of lugging and loading up a 84 year old mobility challenged woman in whatever car he happened to drive. He's leaving her there, dead or alive, and taking his chances.

She was clearly targeted for kidnapping in my view. And targeted for either ransom or to punish someone. No other realistic reasons to take her with you. I mean, yeah, there can be outliers and people can conjure up all sorts of fantastical reasons a perp might choose to bring her along, but I'm going with the most likely and saying it was ransom or to punish. And every day that goes by without her return, the latter is looking more and more like the true motive to me. And I don't like that I just had to write that.

One thing that stood out to me from the porch footage is the suspect’s silhouette. The FBI has confirmed the individual is male. He appears to have a notably wide hip area along with a wide stance and minimal knee bend when picking up the lantana. Together these features create a distinctive outline that someone who knows him might recognize even without seeing his face. Just an observation.

The front doorbell camera they were able to recover video from was taken by the perpetrator and disabled from further overwriting more footage so it worked in Google's favor. The other cameras were not taken and are in possession of Google. Those have been overwritten many times since 3 hours of event-based cloud video history is the limit.

I'm inclined to lean toward the punishment motivation. If this was a person obsessed with SG in some way, her perceived lack of communication with him could be enough motivation for him to target her mother as punishment. I think there is another punishment motivation possible too with more of a political motive, but either way, the perp could be acting on the impulse to punish SG.

Maybe a WiFi jammer? He's so calm about that camera I wonder if he thought it was jammed. IMO

I have a half-cooked theory about that.

I’ve learned that Nest doorbell cams can connect at 2.4 or 5GHz. Many IOT devices only connect at 2.4 GHz, but not the Nest cam.

The 2.4 GHz frequency has lower bandwidth but greater range. Perhaps Nancy’s cam was slightly out of the range of the 5 GHz frequency.

Now, what if the suspect had one of the cheap pocket Wi-Fi jammers that only jam 2.4-2.5 GHz, and it initially jammed the Nest. But the internal memory held onto the clips. Then, after dislodging the cam, he walks to a location closer to the router and it connects to 5GHz, uploading the videos. This could possibly explain the disconnection reported at 01:47.

The doorbell video/photos were released on Feb 10 so it couldn’t have been before that, and no I don’t recall that at all. Respectfully, I don’t think that photo exists. IMO

as i understand it, the system maintains a rolling window of accessible cloud events. the 3 hour overwrite isn’t wiping the drive. it’s a rolling buffer. moreover, it’s my opinion that google can feasibly access the footage due to their lackluster retention policies in the past they are literally being sued for

eta: imo, they def have metadata that can at least guide this process as it’s lightweight. great way to start scraping away

I don't know, but suspect, that this image of the person - at greater distance from the infrared light of the Nest doorbell camera because he is standing outside the arched portico front entry - was more difficult for Google to recover and so there are some "missing pieces" from the image and that accounts for the dark spots (which you may note also appear here and there on the ground around him) as well as the seeming absence of eye and mouth holes on the mask. However, it does appear that there is a faint horizontal dark line across his upper chest (at just below armpit level) which is likely the backpack sternum strap and there is an irregularity visible on his left upper shoulder which may be the backpack shoulder strap.

However, I may be completely wrong.

ETA: Upon reviewing the other images, I see that the horizontal dark line across upper chest is actually part of the jacket the person is wearing, rather than a sternum strap of the backpack. So, now - without that additional evidence of a backpack - I'm uncertain whether or not the irregularity I thought I saw on left upper shoulder is a backpack strap or not.
