Regarding ransom note to TMZ: if I wanted to give a tip but keep a low profile with the folks I know who are implicated, I’d be stealthier. Send to local newspaper and tell them to give to police. A tip to TMZ seems like a death sentence for the tipster if you really did know who did it. You can’t be one of many who knows. Unless it’s a ruse and it is the perpetrator posing as a bystander.

While this is possible, I think it's likely that the "camo" pattern was created by the methods used to enhance this very low-resolution photo.

I also think this is the same guy -- lantana man -- and the same jacket, which looks very different in the higher-resolution photos & video. In both cases, the use of an infrared camera may further confuse the issue.

I just thought of something, I apologize if someone beat me and this has been discussed. Nancy's ring subscription was not being paid, correct? So, to most of us, that would mean it doesn't work, and record anymore. Someone close to Nancy would know that the ring, and security subscriptions weren't active. They wouldn't have been worried about them. Am I right? Am I missing something?

What you said about simply removing the door camera from inside the home is one reason of many that I had pause when people were adamant of family involvement.
The other was the man looking at the side of Nancy's porch for something to help obscure and/or remove the camera.
Another thing is Nancy's door, her neighbor said the man appeared to her to not be familiar with that type of secure screen door.
Family and friends would already know about those things.

I don't think the man initially planned on removing that door camera because I don't think he thought it would be working.
Now this is working on the data that the camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. and he is seen at 2:12 a.m.
I think he might have already been inside and he was coming around to the front door to have someone open the front door for him to bring Nancy out.
Was he a lone wolf and was Nancy still conscious and alert albeit bleeding and he told her to come to the front door so he could bring her out to a waiting vehicle?
Or was it an acomplice of his who was already inside ready to help bring Nancy out?

The point being - he knew he had to remove that door camera the moment he walked up to her door and noticed it was still active. Active more than likely due to it being battery operated if disconnected or the power being cut - like yours.

If you look at a picture of the front porch you will notice the doorbell is located well to the right of the camera. This is important because this means the camera is probably battery operated and not powered by the 24V AC from the doorbell. If lantana man cut the power to the house he was probably surprised by an LED illuminated on the battery operated camera.

I don’t think someone who knew that there was no subscription, and, like you say, wouldn’t have been worried about them, would have gone to the trouble of disabling and removing the camera, or trying to conceal themselves from it.
