Right - anything is possible but given the background and wealth of SG's husband, I think it is pretty unlikely he is being considered as having hired someone to kill his 84 year old MIL and then they convinced him to fly in for a polygraph. IMO I think it is more likely he flew in to be with his grieving wife and in laws as support. JMO

Is the sheriff's office not searching for a specific vehicle that was spotted in the immediate vicinity of NG's home between January 31 & February 1? With residential and commercial cameras practically surrounding her house, they must have captured something.

NG's secluded neighborhood does not have street cams or lights, and Tucson has a low light ordinance that makes it very dark at night in that area. Neighbors are spaced out and set back and their personal residential cameras do not effectively reach out and detect cars in the street (some were interviewed and attested to that). I have dozens of cameras on my property and none would capture a car in the street.

To compound matters, major nearby streets only have DOT cameras at intersections/streets that DO NOT RECORD. These cameras are not police cameras like flock cams in other cities.

If it was a crime scene as soon as LE showed up, or I assume it was - considering what has been said about the signs that instigated a call to homicide, is it possible someone with LE had one of "Debra M.'s" business cards in his/her car and left it behind as they exited the property (after searching) with the thought that NG might come back and see the card and seek help (if help was required). A convoluted theory for sure, but I don't see how some rando (APS employee) could have approached the house when it was cordoned off as a possible crime scene. OTOH, the sheriff says the neighbor called it in, but again, how was Debra M. able to access the area?

It is odd.

But it's my understanding that at this time (Sunday, February 1) the first ransom communication had not been received.

ETA: On Sunday they didn't know she had been kidnapped. I'm sure LE sees all kinds of situations, including elderly folks who get involved with other elderly folks who could take advantage of the person and mistreat the person. They had no idea where she might have gone so is it possible they could they have considered all possibilities and wondered if she had left with a male suitor.

To add to the random ideas...what if the perp was the one who left the card in the door as a misdirection tactic? When people finally show up after the crime, they realize that NG is missing, notice the card, and immediately start suspecting elder abuse.

I just can't wrap my brain around the timeline of the card being put there after the crime with such short notice, blood on the doorstep, family/LE on the scene.

Nancy Guthrie case using similar genetic testing that caught Bryan Kohberger​

A pair of gloves found two miles away from Nancy's Arizona home on Thursday, February 12, did not "trigger a match" in the "national CODIS database."

"Investigators are currently looking into additional investigative genetic genealogy options for DNA evidence to check for matches," the statement read. (Investigative genetic genealogy - commonly abbreviated to IGG - was utilized in Kohberger's 2022 arrest in relation to the Idaho college murders.)

According to the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, IGG involves "the science of using genetic and genealogical methods to generate leads for law enforcement entities investigating crimes and identifying human remains."

My opinion: one of these gloves could show a DNA connection to a relative of the person who wore the glove.

In his update tonight, Brian Entin specifically talks with a retired FBI agent about how dark it is in NG's neighborhood at night. They were saying there are no lights, and it would be easy to escape detection if a car rolled through with the lights off.

WE had a guy where I live who was loosing his mind. IE: Dementia or Alzheimer's or something like that. A seasonal person to the area (think snowbirds) decided to purchase his house from him as he decided he was going to travel the country following NASCAR. Well, the poor ole fella was the victim of a robbery in New Orleans and his friend was killed. (he told me that story) Anyways, he also told me the person who bought his house would NOT sell it back to him and he had to rent his own house back. We are talking maybe a few weeks. She also locked him out of his garage where he kept his race cars and couldn't access them.

In any event, I called Adult Protective Services. I didn't call LE. I thought he may have been financially exploited. However, unfortunately APS didn't do anything. It was really disappointing. Others in the area thought he was being exploited as well.

Long story short---when you think someone is being exploited--you call APS and not LE. BUT---that being said, who called and why? What did they know that caused them so much concern that they felt APS needed to get involved?

This was my thinking. I’m not terribly familiar with APS but my understanding is that it’s used more for something that is an ongoing abusive or exploitative situation but not an immediate emergency. 911 is for immediate emergencies. An elderly woman not showing up to a scheduled get together and not answering her door or phone with blood on her front walk is an immediate emergency. APS makes absolutely no sense to me.

The other possibility is that as with a lot of other things in this case, it’s misinformation and we’re missing a lot of pieces of the puzzle. Maybe a neighbor didn’t call APS directly that day and also called 911 and it was officers who decided to loop in an APS worker…?

He's having to address every rumor. I feel badly for him but I don't know the full story of the SO politics.

I think it's very normal to feel territorial about where you work. You need to hide it but this is a crazy situation for all involved.

I haven't seen any specifics on the meds she takes. I just remember it being stated as far back as day 1 that it was medication that she couldn't go without.

I think she takes daily meds. All meds are different but usually you can go some time without them but comfort level would be compromised. JMO

also, judging from Google street view, residential cameras won't cover much beyond their immediate vicinity. tall vegetation, 1 story houses, and flattish landscape mean there aren't a lot good lines of sight.

come to think of it, you can see why a home invader would pick this neighborhood. ...if we take away the assumption that getting to NG was the whole point.

If this were indeed an apple watch or something similar, can't it (and a phone if one were being carried) be geolocated to another nearby device? For instance, NG's phone, via nearby cell towers?

You are 100% correct about calling APS over LE. LE won't touch suspected adult exploitation with a 10 foot pole. I recently had to deal with 3 different LE agencies in 3 different states involving my mom with Dementia after she got herself into several compromising situations. LE did the best they could within their power, but they all didn't want to have anything to do with an elderly woman in trouble. They all asked me if I would come get her, but I insisted upon hospialization. When I finally did involve APS, it has been nothing but a positive experience.

Yes, Michael Ruiz’s explanation of the APS card still leaves even more questions.

“The day she was reported missing a neighbor called Adult Protective Services,” [Sheriff Nanos] he says. “They sent an investigator to check on her.”

This confirms the report was made AFTER her suspected abduction.”

So:

What prompted the neighbor to make the call that day she was reported missing (which would have been Feb 1, Sunday).

Just some of my thoughts, no basis. This makes my mind swirl—

Did the neighbor hear voices or something that led them to believe she was being abused by someone familiar to her? As in, something like, “No, I won’t go with you!!” (not knowing at the time NG was actually saying that to a kidnapper). jmo

Did the neighbor’s mind go to the abuse angle rather than a kidnapping because it’s a safe neighborhood and nothing close to this has ever happened before? Jmo

I make no guesses about the APS card.

However, I disagree regarding the public, including much of Tucson, not having some idea that NG is Savannah's mother.

Savannah has often talked about growing up in Tucson. Her mother has been on the Today show, and Savannah televised a hometown special in which she went back to her childhood home, talked about her family and early years, and interviewed her mom.

That does not mean that everybody or anybody in Tucson particularly cared about that until now. But for those who did, as Tucson is not a celebrity town as it is here (NYC) or in Los Angeles, NG may have been viewed by some as a quasi-celebrity.

They may not have known her elite area very well, but anybody can find an address and phone numbers on the internet.

We have numerous celebrity relatives in San Antonio and we have few celebrities from San Antonio. John Quinones is from here. But I don't know much else about him. All I know is that he's from here. (I literally just now looked up what high school he went to..LOL)

We have famous basketball players, but I sure as heck wouldn't recognize their parents. One of them has a sister, but she serves in the Texas House of Representatives, so she is well known. (Both are in their 70's, and I don't know what the heck he looks like now ) Spouses and parents of elected officials are known entities, but most criminals don't follow them. One time, a campaign sent me to a bad part of town with a very bad list of voters. I asked if they were going to vote to re-elect the mayor. They responded, "Never heard of the guy".

This vehicle is on camera somewhere in the vicinity during this timeframe, imo. Driver is not escaping the area without being on residential or commercial cameras, or the plate being hit by an LPR.

Maybe it wasn't a camera from Nancy's neighborhood, or a business just down the road, but a camera around the block.

LPRs are usually positioned on the top of utility poles. They read above-down the vegetation and landscape.

Neighborhood cams would just be a bonus.
