I know no one has insinuated it, that's why I posted it as a question. But if the police were already there then there was no reason to call APS. Why wouldn't the person assume the police were handling it?

The police provide different services than do APS. The neighbor, likely a friend probably felt it was necessary and NG needed outside intervention. APS wasn't called to search for NG.

And age-related changes in physical and mental abilities vary a lot. A group of 20 year olds are going to be a whole lot more similar to one another than a group of 80 year olds. That's why it's important not to stereotype.

Bryan Kohberger was on the loose for 47 days. Perhaps they do have somebody and they’re trying to build a rock solid case against them.

The bigger problem here, IMO, is that tragically, BK’s victims were already dead.

In this case, though the hope is now feeble and dim, the ultimate goal would be to bring Nancy home ALIVE, so time is of the essence, more so than when they were searching for Kohberger.

I'm a mandated reporter; I'm well aware of the services that are provided. The protective services don't search for missing people, you're correct. And they can't provide any services to a person who is missing.

The police were aware she was missing. Therefore, if APS was required, the police would have notified them at such time that they were required.

I can't believe that people think that this is an appropriate call for someone to make when the police are already there. Just for the record, it is not. If the police are already involved then they will take that next step if it needs to be taken. No one needs to insert themselves beyond that.

The call was because she was missing. They KNEW she was missing and they thought it appropriate. Remember, all they knew was she was missing and probably believed Nancy had wandered off. There is absolutely NOTHING odd about that. The only unusual thing is APS showing up and putting the card there during a huge investigation.

It isn’t clear to me that the neighbor called after they knew NG was missing, and that the neighbor thought NG had wandered off. Could be, but it isn’t clear, to me.

The day she was reported missing = Sunday, Feb 1 (911 call by AG at 12:03 pm)

So, the neighbor called on that same day, but no time of that call to APS is stated.

Ruiz says report was made after NG’s suspected abduction.

Suspected abduction time (to my thinking) is estimated to be before or around 2:28 am-ish on Feb 1, when the pacemaker app could not connect to her Apple Watch.

I thought maybe it plausible the neighbor made a report the morning of Feb 1 before anyone knew NG was missing. Maybe based on something the neighbor heard in those wee hours when NG was being abducted. Nothing has been reported in the news about that, but then I’m sure there’s always many things not released to the media in an active investigation.

Yes, and also cartels usually shoot the person they want gone, and leave them there. They don’t usually take a victim for ransom.

They are fast, They would not stay inside for 40 minutes!

They don’t wear elaborate disguises,(maybe hoody, glasses to avoid cameras going into house), as the person will be gone, so can’t ID shooter later.

They threaten first, that if not paid, the family could be in danger.

So my opinion only, not cartel.

Maybe a lower level drug dealer. NG saw something she should not have, had to be gone.
Sorry about NG, just an idea.

Yes, this has always felt different and sadder. A case where the victim is kidnapped and unknown to be alive or dead should surely have much more urgency and not include "biding time." I know LE has been trying, but it's just sad that we're three weeks in and no sign of what happened yet.

Maybe the neighbour phoned APS before the family or police had been made aware that NG hadn’t turned up at theirs for the church service livestream.

I realize this could be nothing but it gave me chills.

In the Google trends stories they pulled up other states with news anchors and their home searches/street views (Anderson Cooper, Sean Hannity) and it was more than Guthrie's, so there's that.

After SG featured her mother on TV including Tucson in a "Homecoming" segment on NBC in Nov. 2025 there would likely be someone looking it up (it was a minuscule sampling).

We have two very different ideas of how this occurred but at this stage we don't know.

I didn't see it as somebody inserting them self into the situation, I imagined AG walking next door and saying, "Have you seen my mom?" and then returning home to eventually phone police. Early on, my guess is that people assumed she wandered off, including the neighbor. I imagined the neighbor thought it was a good idea because they viewed her as not well enough to manage on her own.

A Republic reporter saw the card on Feb. 3 while taking photographs at the front door. A reporter called the phone number listed. An agent said the card was left after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, not before.

It was left so Nancy Guthrie, an older adult who lived alone, could contact the agency if she needed services once she returned home safe.

As I posted earlier...The APS card is insignificant. I think we are beating the APS card into a pulp! Plus a lot of the elderly folk of today were the young and middle-aged people working nights in their younger years, and your body clock just gets used to living your life around later hours, being more productive, focused and energised later in the day and the evening than early in the morning. I worked in pubs and music venues for much of my life from a teenager onwards and my body clock and sleep pattern are still very much “wired” for that kind of schedule years later.

I agree that they have checked the threads (which creeps me out) but law enforcement and prosecutors stated clearly that Pappa Rogers (or whatever the spelling) wasn’t BK in the press conference after the sentencing. Yes, I remember all that, too! Thanks for info. I don’t want to derail to another case too much.

It still seemed to me, that some PR posts came across taunting, and misleading to LE.

Anyway, I think perps, at the very least, follow closely, mainly “read only”, see what theories are coming up. So they know if it’s time to flee.
